Thank you for these vdeos Mr. Tugwell, they are very helpful. I have 2 questions if you have a moment or if anyone can answer. 1- Is there a way to have have the IF STATEMENT allow a condition for manual entry without overwriting the formula in the cell. I wanted to have a dependent cell autopopulate cells but give the user the option to manually put in different numbers without overwriting the formula? 2- Is there a way to use a check box to toggle between manual inputing and autopopulating dependent cells? Thank you!

This is very interesting and I see plenty of uses for this
    Examples:
Show full names, first names only, or last names only
Show all upper and lower case letters, only upper, or only lower
Show all letters and numbers, only letters, or only numbers
For dates, all dates in list, only today, only before today, or only after today, etc

It was a great video. I've a query here. What if I have to set a default value to be reflected in every drop down of the column when nothing is selected from the list.
I've tried using IF formula referencing the before cell value to the data validation cell and it worked only for that row. FOr Example if I'm doing data validation on B2 cell, I've created a formula If(A2="","Default_Value").
ANy Alternative to resolve my query???

Thank you for this video! Do you know of a way to create a list dependent on NOT including a condition? For example- I want to create a list of tasks (written in column B) except for those tasks marked "Complete" in column A. Could I use this formula to do that?

Im trying to make Excel show "PENDING" in all drop down list cells by default. But having trouble because I already have a rule created that makes the text orange colored when the word "PENDING" is present. So when I create ANOTHER conditional formula involving the word "PENDING" Excel tells me the formula creates circular errors.
Any ideas on how I can have all cells show specific text in a specific color by default but also have a drop down list of additional text options?

Select the cell that have the conditional formatting. You either delete or change it. Remember if you have the same command on the same color the one in the bottom will be ignored.

Hi, Many thanks for this:) Could you help me with the following? I would like to use your formula, but when the IF condition (in the data validation) meets "false" I would like to be able to type a text instead of using a list. Is it possible?

I need to use the If formula in 1 cell without a drop down list but the if statement references a cell that has and needs a drop down list but I just keep getting false. Can anyone help
