It sounds like a busy life! I’m amazed at your effort pursuing this career! I hope to keep the mindset for years for this! I’m not as smart as I think but I am really hoping hard studying and seeking help would help me through all this. ❤️
Thank you so much for posting these videos! I started undergrad as bio pre-med, then switched to nursing, and now I am going back to bio but am trying to decide if I want pre-med or pre-optometry. All of the med school videos are so chaotic and stressful, and this video brought me peace lol! So thank you!!
Hello Megan thank you so much for your day to day video. Since your an optometry student, I wanted to ask for a video request if possible. Would it be possible for you to do a video showing you raising and lowering a patient up and down in the optometry exam chair?? That would be really awesome to see and my kids would love it. So if you could do a video segment on the eye exam chair or maybe add it into one of your optometry videos. That would be so cool. Thank you so so much.
Hi Megan! My name is Sara and wow, I can’t tell you how happy I am that I came across your channel. I am a recent grad from Arizona State University and I’ve applied to Midwestern and two other California optometry schools but I really want to stay in AZ! What would be your opinion on Midwestern like academics and campus wise?! I haven’t came across anyone yet who’s in the Midwestern optometry program and I want to hear all about your experience so far there :) Thank you so much for your video though like I can’t tell you how helpful even this one video is and the camera quality is A1. Can’t wait to watch more!
Hey Sara! Congratulations!!! I go to the Midwestern University in IL, but we basically follow the exact same guidelines as the AZ opto program :) Opto school is tough for sure, but it’s also extremely rewarding. Time in clinic is KEY to making you feel more confident in your skills and with patients. Any time you have the opportunity to be in clinic, do it!! We started having clinical observations during our first year of school (1-2 per quarter) which helps get you prepared for the future years. Year 1 is a lot of basic science courses w a few opto courses, year 2 is more 50/50, year 3 is strictly optometry/medicine courses + clinic shifts, year 4 is 3 rotations at external clinics + 1 at your school. Let me know if you have any other questions & good luck!! 🤓❤️
It’s actually the app our professors use to upload all of their class notes/PowerPoints for us to download - it’s call Canvas but you can only access it if your school uses it! Notability is a really good app for organizing notes!! I talk about it in my Q&A video and show how I use it if you want to see
GREAT VIDEO! Im thinking of going into optometry myself but sometimes get grossed out by certain things (i.e. if there was a large item stuck in the eye, completely bloodshot eyes, eye falling out of the socket, etc). What would be your advice for someone like me?? (i.e. you will get used to it over time, maybe optometry is not for you, you barely ever see scenarios like that, etc) ANY ADVICE IS APPRECIATED!
did ur optometry school required you to take 5 courses each term for your BSc undergrad major? how was the admission, because thats that required in here, and i can't handle that much
Hi Nice informative video I have a Qs if someone did 6 years Bachelor in Medicine can he apply for optometry course as international student Plz need ur guidance on this & what are the affordable & easy to get in universities in USA Thanks
New to your channel! Great video and interesting to get a small insight into optometry school! I noticed in lab you were doing reflexes and listening to heart sounds it looked like. For optometry do you guys learn full anatomy and do full physical exams like medical students (MD, DO)?
Hey! Thanks so much. We learn full head and neck anatomy. Many eye diseases are associated with systemic issues, so it’s important to know more than just the ocular presentations!

I really hope these videos keep coming! It was good insight and kept me motivated, I’m planning on going to pco after I graduate with a bio degree!
