if i may? the tickover and carbs are operating a mile out, first off you have fitted in line fuel filters to not only the fuel feed line from the tap to the carbs on the right hand side but also the vacum port hose on the left hand side ,!?? thats not a fuel delivery hose on the left thats the vacumn hose line from the tap to the carbs the left hand side is a different sized smaller "vac" hose, and that is the vacum line only to the carbs there should be NO fuel filters on that left hand vac hose whatsoever , thats not helping how the carbs are currently operating at all sorry secondly this is a vacumn drawn fuel delivery system if you start fitting in line fuel filters in the fuel feed hose line then you risk starving the float bowls of fuel ,when the demand for fuel delivery is higher at larger throttle openings when the bikes being ridden, those in line filters act as a BLOCK in the vacumn fuel feed system, fuel cannot get through them fast enough to fill emptying carbs back up at higher rpms whils riding the bike, it starves the carbs float bowls of fuel because fuel flow cannot get through those paper element fuel filters fast enough respectfully there is no need at all to start adding additional in line fuel filters on vacumn operated fuel delivery systems such as these on the GT model range from 250cc's upwards , if the fuel tank internals have been properly cleaned out of any surface rust? thats collected over the decades? by buying a product thats designed to simply melt that out over 48 hours or so , then before the fuel even reaches the carbs there are TWO filters in the mikuni vac fuel tap itself one each on the very top of the tap for the main feed from the tank and the reserve feed, and then another filter in the screw off circular base of the tap also, thats TWO filters the fuel goes through before it even leaves the fuel tap you just dont need a third in line one at all , and again and more importantly those in line filters will starve the float bowls of fuel flow from the tap at higher constant rpms when the bikes being ridden the carburation needs setting up correctly im sorry but its a mile out, thats not something you do after riding it a while, it wants setting up right from the off these GT750 engines should all idle at tick over at 1000 to 1200 rpms and no more than that , there is a long thin alloy knurled knob between the centre carburettor and the right hand caburettor that is what is used to set the tick over speed on a warm engine, you turn it anti clockwise to reduce the tick over rpm's thats ticking over way to high, you need to reduce the tick over speed by turning that knurled knob anti clockwise when the engines warmed through, you want to be aiming at 1000 to 1200 rpm only thats the correct tick over speed on all these GT models from 125 cc up to 750cc's , if the carbs have never been off ? completely stripped ?and ultrasonic cleaned ? at the ages these bikes all are today then there are endless carburettor running issues with all these GT 750's if you cannot strip and restore carbs yourself ? then send them off to Barry wilkes in dudley west midlands he offers a carburettor restoration service on all these GT 750 carbs on e bay uk , under his e bay user name "bluesmokebaz" he has done literally hundreds of sets of these carbs for GT 750's down the years now, it will perform DIFFERENT again once thats been done regards .
Thanks for all information this is a new bike to Paul he has only ridden it we have lots to sort out it is the first time I have seen the bike we know that the carbs need to be stripped down and serviced We need to to go through everything on the bike
You have an in line fuel filter on the vacuum pipe ! When you "set" the carbs up you need to block the vacuum pipe with a small screw to stop it drawing excess air in ! I'm sorry but this is a pretty poor video if your trying to help people 😔
Love to see how you got those coils fitted, looks like the same ones as i purchased but my centre one won't fit under frame
It’s a wiggle and a jiggle to get them in lol
Good luck
I'd love another GT. Out of my price range now though.
Nice bike.
if i may? the tickover and carbs are operating a mile out,
first off you have fitted in line fuel filters to not only the fuel feed line from the tap to the carbs on the right hand side
but also the vacum port hose on the left hand side ,!??
thats not a fuel delivery hose on the left thats the vacumn hose line from the tap to the carbs
the left hand side is a different sized smaller "vac" hose, and that is the vacum line only to the carbs
there should be NO fuel filters on that left hand vac hose whatsoever , thats not helping how the carbs are currently operating at all sorry
secondly this is a vacumn drawn fuel delivery system if you start fitting in line fuel filters in the fuel feed hose line then you risk starving the float bowls of fuel ,when the demand for fuel delivery is higher at larger throttle openings when the bikes being ridden,
those in line filters act as a BLOCK in the vacumn fuel feed system, fuel cannot get through them fast enough to fill emptying carbs back up at higher rpms whils riding the bike, it starves the carbs float bowls of fuel because fuel flow cannot get through those paper element fuel filters fast enough
respectfully there is no need at all to start adding additional in line fuel filters on vacumn operated fuel delivery systems such as these on the GT model range from 250cc's upwards , if the fuel tank internals have been properly cleaned out of any surface rust? thats collected over the decades? by buying a product thats designed to simply melt that out over 48 hours or so ,
then before the fuel even reaches the carbs there are TWO filters in the mikuni vac fuel tap itself one each on the very top of the tap for the main feed from the tank and the reserve feed, and then another filter in the screw off circular base of the tap also,
thats TWO filters the fuel goes through before it even leaves the fuel tap
you just dont need a third in line one at all , and again and more importantly those in line filters will starve the float bowls of fuel flow from the tap at higher constant rpms when the bikes being ridden
the carburation needs setting up correctly im sorry but its a mile out, thats not something you do after riding it a while, it wants setting up right from the off these GT750 engines should all idle at tick over at 1000 to 1200 rpms and no more than that , there is a long thin alloy knurled knob between the centre carburettor and the right hand caburettor that is what is used to set the tick over speed on a warm engine, you turn it anti clockwise to reduce the tick over rpm's thats ticking over way to high, you need to reduce the tick over speed by turning that knurled knob anti clockwise when the engines warmed through, you want to be aiming at 1000 to 1200 rpm only thats the correct tick over speed on all these GT models from 125 cc up to 750cc's ,
if the carbs have never been off ? completely stripped ?and ultrasonic cleaned ? at the ages these bikes all are today then there are endless carburettor running issues with all these GT 750's
if you cannot strip and restore carbs yourself ? then send them off to Barry wilkes in dudley west midlands he offers a carburettor restoration service on all these GT 750 carbs on e bay uk , under his e bay user name "bluesmokebaz" he has done literally hundreds of sets of these carbs for GT 750's down the years now, it will perform DIFFERENT again once thats been done
regards .

Running not too bad but could do with a nice long run out and the carbs setting up with the vacuum gauges and then it will be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet, 😎
You have an in line fuel filter on the vacuum pipe !
When you "set" the carbs up you need to block the vacuum pipe with a small screw to stop it drawing excess air in !

Thanks for your input all greatly appreciate and received
