It could be because he just regurgitates review specs and buzzwords, doesn't talk about the *actual* downside to products (for instance the fact that these in comparison to the HD650's have a significantly reduced build quality, coming from massdrop and being almost entirely plastic.) , and spreads misinformation (HD6xx ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO UNPARALLELED FOR GAMING, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT) leading people to buy products they ultimately end up disliking. He is not honest with people and makes a pretty penny off of those who use the links he provides. Every review for open backed headphones has been about the same. Always the same con of 'these are open backed, people will hear what you're listening to'. No shit, sherlock. Got any other cons or are these just about perfect? Just about perfect? Awesome...Do not be mislead, this is just a product ad disguised as an unbiased review. He'll say that the only reason I feel this way is because I disagree with his opinion. Let me say this, if the opinion you give is your honest one, stop reviewing headphones, possibly stop reviews in general, because damn, what an incomplete, and poorly communicated opinion you give. Maybe focus less on the production value and more on being honest with your subscribers

I have had these for 3 years now in daily use. No problems so far and they work well in both music listening and competitive fps gaming.
It has been verified that they are the HD650. I ordered a set, I kind of missed my HD600, but these with a nice headphone amp and DAC are one of those cans that makes you want to listen ALL DAY.
Proven the sound is different from hd650, check rtings

I like bass, bass is natural when you hear live music. These headphones do really have a solid bass!
4:30 You said they are not to bassy. HD650 (HD6xx) are one of the most bassy open back headphones out there, bass is freaking awesome on these imo considering they are open back desing.

Your reviews are getting better! In your last review I watched, I didn't like it because you didn't really mention any negatives, and everything sounded very generic. This one was better, although you could mention the so-called sennheiser veil for some bonus points for having those extra special details . Lastly, I loved the b-roll, very visually appealing. I think your reviews are great for new audiophiles who probably wouldn't understand the jargon from a detailed head-fi review or something.

Bought these headphones this last spring/summer on massdrop... fopr $199. Rarely use them but they are phenomenal. I already own a pair of Sennheiser RS185s but I also don;t have a DAC. amazing quality for 200 bucks. You cannot go wrong man. Love these things.

Well 3 months later and still no drop :((((. I cry everytime I am really considering just go and get HD650 for extra 100$.

I have the 600 so I don't need another set of cans but I can say that the 6XX are worth every penny, massdrop is doing some real good for the mechanical keyboard, audiophile and the tech community in general.

I think the masssdrop model has a shorter cable than the retail version, which explains why some people said they were longer than 4.5 feet. My HD-650 is longer.
Sennheiser has always been a favorite brand of headphones of mine. These are definately something I'll look out for. Great vid!
I believe that the 6ft cable came with the 650's not the 6xx's either way there are a ton of replacement cables available

I bought mine last year and every time I listen to music through them, I`m blown away with how good they sound for such a low price! Highly recommend!
Are they good for gaming ?
@@g3neralcross911 I'm not a gamer myself but I would assume they would be good for gaming. The only thing is other people can hear what you are listening to so if you're gaming in close proximity to others, it may not be ideal but if not, I think they would do well.
After educating myself in headsets a bit and watching the drops on massdrop i highly regret buying a set of rig 500e's for $300AU. Could of gotten this or something similar and a cheap dac/amp combo. Live and learn. Great vid!
Every time you get a new pair of headphones it's the best headphones ever. I mean I'm all for hyperbole but I think you do it for click bait reasons. not tryna be a dick, i like your videos. Just giving some criticism so you can make better videos.

The Shanling up4 dac amp works a treat with these headphones
The Fidelio X2 already changed the landscape, extreme build quality with aluminium and memory foam, praised as better than the HD6xx by top audioreviewers, and better dynamic range but same exceptional resolution. All for around the same unde 300$ price. You should take a look at them also.
Ok the ultimate question for you would be: Will the HD6xx(Aka. HD650) replace your AKG7xx as your daily driver? The Massdrop AkG7xx is up and a lot of us here will be basing our purchase for the next 22hrs upon your claim here.

Yes, Massdrop sponsors many tech youtubers, so they send them free samples. Still, it's true that the headphones are great for the price.
What you're implying is kind of contradicting. The more people review them and say they are great, lesser the chance that they're actually shit. Because Sennheiser can't promote all youtubers, if only a few said they were great than the chances of being sponsered would be way higher. These are btw a massdrop, not retail price, and sponsering this massdrop to create lots of hype is a worse marketting scheme than sponsering retail headphones as much, because they are worse price/quality.

I'm surprised that you thought the bass on the 6xx was underwhelming when the bass on the 600 was the perfect amount for me. Love my neutrality and details I guess
what's the mic you can put on any headset that he did a video on that one time, they're magnetic to stick onto the headset if that helps I think

If you get these and need a budget option to run them I recommend a nfb11 if you can find it. I just bought this combo myself. You can start with a fulla 2 but just know you are not getting the full potential of these headphones with it.
Since they are open back does is the sound of a mechanical keyboard highly audible inside? Did you find it to be annoying?

How do you compare these to the 598 se? I've been looking to buy those. Price aside, which should I look into getting? Comfort, sound wise? These will be for gaming, movie watching, and music! Mainly gaming... and some slight video editing as well

I'm now considering getting these, my only issue is sound leakage.
MetaKnight964 you should 100% get them. I have them and love them. I tuck the cable through my chair to get it out of the way but the sound leakage isn’t that bad. They are great. If you are using windows mess around with the realtek settings. When I want bass I use the underwater preset. Great headphones and soooo comfortable.

I use the Fiio E10K amp and it runs perfect for listening to music and gaming and its very easy to use for under 100$ I'd definitely recommend it!

Hey frank, i know you review a lot of sound systems and headphones/headsets, but I am trying to find a 7.1(preferrably true surround) that are $200 or less that don't have mic so it isn't too bulky. I joined the drop, but they ship in 4 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why!!!!!!!!????????? Also, I hope the cable length is actually 6 feet. I also will basically only use these at my desktop and my bed is right next to it, so I want it to reach my bed and when I'm sitting at my desk.
I also need to get a amp, the FiiO E10k I bought for my broken and returned HE400I will not be enough. I want to get an amp and use the E10k as a dac, but I also have a Xonar DGX soundcard but am not sure if that will work well enough as a dac. Been looking into the Schiit Magni 3 or the Objective 2 or the monoprice amp/dac if I just want to replace the E10k completely and sell it.
For neutrality I'm leaning towards the O2, but the Magni 3 has more inputs so I would maybe be able to connect my desktop speakers and my dac as well as my headphones if I get it.
If I can just connect the speakers to the dac I guess it wouldn't matter either way.
I have ever owned a dac/amp combo, so have some simple questions.
If I have the e10k do I then connect that to the linein or rca ports on the amp? If so, the O2 on massdrop is rca only, will I be able to buy a male single rca to dual male rca cable to connect the single coaxial out on the e10k to the dual rca on the amp? Or will I need a different cable or a line in to rca cable/adapter.
Also, the connection order is amp to dac to pc? Meaning the dac is the bridge between the amp and the PC?
Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get the max enjoyment out of the HD6XX(without spending more than what I spent on them on an amp/or dac).
Thats why i bought a pair of brand new ones off Ebay (for about $50 more). I can't wait months.. so ill pay that premium to get them faster haha

Hi guys I’m wondering if I should the HD6XX or the HD58’s with a modmic or something. Because what I was originally going to do was get Sennheiser GAME ZERO heedsets with a Mayflower Arc amp/dac. Also I really only game on my pc so I don’t really listen to music Often, well I do, but I’m not a audiophile or anything. And the other thing is I want to get into DCS world and I basically need a trackIR for that and the current headsets I’m using right now are the corsair void pro wireless which aren’t that good and they fall off my head easily just by looking down, left and right. The reason I’m here is because I really don’t know too much about headphones/headsets and I’m so overwhelmed by all the choices and I want to make a one time purchase because I wasted 80 dollars on those crappy void pro’s when I should of done my research in the first place. Asking kind of late, but anyone here knows if 6xx/650 combo with GSX 1000 amp would be better than 598 se with the same amp? Adding modmic to that, I'd use it both for gaming and listening to music.

6xx/650 are in a completely different league but you'll need proper amplification

Well I’ve heard that the dt 990 pros were way better in the high end and medium end, while the hd6xx were better in medium to low end and I like mainly gaming. Why are you taking the dt 990s back?

Compare these to the K7XX for gaming and music?
K7xx has better soundstage so it may be better for gaming, however the 650/6xx have excellent imaging and are a good option for gaming. For music it's the 6xx and it's not even close.
