Hey I’m in the video in the queue hall! At 4:04 I look right at you lol I have the beard and slicked back hair but I don’t think I was looking directly at you. Big fan of the channel. Victory Comics is also a favorite of mine to dive into while there.
Sounds like an awesome Batman run (100-up). Good luck on your 121 hunt. I got lucky and got mine for $40 30 years ago. 🙂 And FYI, Disney World opened in 1971.
Really good pickups. The Space Adventures 33 is a ghost 👻. I have never seen that book in the wild. It’s cool watching you fill runs. If you can do a show floor video from Sunday that would be great.
Was there Thursday as well, and I hit up Victory Comics (once I found the actual comics section at a comic con! 😂), looking to fill in my Flash run, mostly the mid-to-late 200s.
How do you deal with schlepping all those books around the Con? You bring short boxes & bag check them as you go? You walk around with a gigantic duffel / army bag? After about 80 books, I just can't carry the stuff around for hours & hours.
Great episode Jim! That is an awesome haul of books. What is the relevance of the May 1946 books? Also, you should try ComicBase to keep track of your books. They had the Marmaduke book listed. I’ve used ComicBase for about 20 years plus. Awesome program! Keep reading those comics!
@@AgentDeCamp4 I have a Mac, not a PC so I had tried using comicbase but I had to use a PC emulator on my Mac. CLZ is a mobile app so it’s easy to use on my phone (when I can find cell service at NYCC)
If you follow Angelo and Sara @ The Comics Den, Angelo just got a graded HERO FOR HIRE #1 that plans to break-out and read aloud on the channel... Maybe you've started something...?
Once again, amazing books! You're the only other person I ever really see picking up the Charlton heroes! That Space Adventures is tough in a decent grade
There is a crime story in DC Super-Stars #9, a reprint from Gang Busters #47 from 1957. That issue of DC Super-Stars is kind of odd, there's really no connection between the stories except for the presence of firearms, a rather tenuous link. Human Torch better watch where he throws those fireballs, one stray could lead to a caramel tidal wave. James Gunn and Ambush Bug: the ideal movie union. The Marmaduke book reprints Brad Anderson's newspaper strips from 1958 to 1960.
Jim Re May '46 collection! Why that particular year to base a collection on... judging by various biographical comments you are not born in 1946, so baffled?
Always fun seeing you at the cons!
I bring a battery pack to recharge my phone during a con. Great video!
Enjoyable video Jim --
I also remember those early '70s DC 20 cent issues fondly
5 comics for $1!
Great pickups, Jim. I always love seeing what you manage to find. I couldn't make it, but hopefully, next year, I can.

I love hearing Jim always giving the benefit of doubt to James Gunn’s selection of the most obscure characters for the DCU. “Put it in the spec pile.”

My objection with N.Y. Comicon is they didn't Invite the creators Bernie Bubnis, and Ron Fradkin this is sad. WHY NOT????
Nice pickups!
That Space Adventure #33 is hard to find...most Charltons I found years ago in 1970s were usually not in good condition even back then...
Certainly all of the Batgirls have their fans, but Barabra Gordon will always be My Batgirl (Yvonne Craig, y'know!)

Jim saw you on Sean's POP COMICS 'cast...!! Cool seeing you!! Did you have to spring for a new con badge?
Jim , I get it .....your basement is a mess, because you lost your badge... got it...!!

Do you normally go to shows with a list of books or do you just kinda wing it?
@@achtungjamie I have a very long list I my head and then when I’m digging for run filler I use the CLZ app.
Bart Sears claims he drew the Invasion cover, so the site you've visited very likely is in error.
Tons & tons of Kirby Kovers...!!
