No, absolutely not. The 'Lemond' saddle height equation is what I use to get in the ballpark. Google how to measure your 'cycling inseam,' and then take that measurement and multiply it by .883 - this will give you the approximate saddle height for your leg length. You want to measure from the center of the bottom bracket, follow straight up the seat tube and to the top of the saddle. That should be your saddle height - (cycling inseam) X (.883) = saddle height
Being a Bike fitter, I like this video and the info does give people the impetus to look to getting a PROPER bike fit, but cant emphasise enough how important a proper bike fit is, I have had customers that have come to me with 'mates' advice or something I read in a cycling mag and have done themselves some real damage.....
All rider preference. The consequence of a smaller frame means you'll have a shorter toptube, which will decrease reach and ability to get lower. Hi Maksim, if you're not uncomfortable, you're probably ok, but it could be worth popping in to see a local bike fitter and seeing if they have any tips for you about how you can improve your position on the bike.
Global Cycling Network Many thanks for the quick response! While I'm cycling I'm quite comfortable. I don't feel any pain in my knees, nor in back. That's the problem that i have no one to ask. Thanks again! Hope everything will be fine!
I keep getting quite bad numbing and pins and needles in my left hand when riding, is this due to incorrect riding position and what can I do about it?
I get this too. I read today that this can sometimes be too much gel. For example if you have 3.5mm gel on your bars, and then some good gel filled gloves you can cause the bones into the hand to relax into the gel, which then brings causes the bar to contact the gap between the bones and cut off circulation. I am going to try without the gloves (as I have a gravel bike and the bars do have quite a bit of gel padding)
Just remember that riding a bike for 4-5hrs almost every day isn't natural and there's nothing you can do to make it feel comfortable other than riding 4-5hrs almost every day!
I'd be happy if I could ride 2 hours (20-30 miles) every other day or 3 times a week pain free and in comfort. I would need to be on oxycodone 5 mg. for that. Then it would be truly enjoyable. I think it's just my age and arthritis.
Están pasando en Ecuador estos vídeos para los que no le hacemos al inglés como nos vamos a suscribir si no sabemos que dicen y se ve interesante no como esos otros videos de esas personas que dicen saber y no explican nada
That makes absolutely no sense at all. I have raised my stem as high as I can and still I get pain in my wrists and shoulders and numbness in my hands. I have my seat up at much as I can so my legs almost extend fully. I have tried for years to get the right fit and adjustment for a short person like me with my 1998 jamis cross country bike that I use for road pavement riding only. I am just finding out to take 500 mb. of acetaminophen before I go to stop all the pain. I have tried so many different positions over the years and now at 65 nothing has ever worked. I constantly have to sit up straight for a bit and then back over again for both hands on the bars. I have a 21 speed twist shifter x 2. I could ride almost forever if I was not in pain or discomfort just for the enjoyment as I ride around our lake levee that is paved. Thanks if your still alive and around. 🤔
Make an video: Take your normal beginner cyclist. Take him all out bikefit and all out new bike buy and ride...even one year followup for that. ✌🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
from the moment he mentioned the knee over pedal you know that he does not know what he is talking about. there is no evidence at all or anything that holds this “rule”. Also that “rule” is from the time your frame was a perfect triangle (every leg as long as the other) that is already a long time not the case anymore. you can also see it on where he puts the angle points. they are not at all related to the joints. so please take this video offline because you are misleading and 100% misinforming everyone. educate first yourself before you inform. check Neill Stanbury and you will all understand why Kops-methode is something you should bever do
Before the video began another 'Fitting Master' ran his commercial, and has different ergonomic points and thus all theses angles end up being CRAP. I like one uses the ear but is that head up or down like a racer. Different place. Angle of back he says in 45-50 deg the commercial said over 52. No agreement acuts or obtuse. Each rider would get a different answer by all these fitters.
i see riders all the time, that ride bow legged..? Why do they..? I rode motorcycle for years and was always taught to squeeze the tank with my knees. . On the bike, I have always concentrated on keeping the knees pointed forward and the hips level..
So lets get this straight - in order to set my bike up I need to install 'Steam' ... hmmm - does that mean I can play Call of Duty while kicking the breeze with my mates in the peleton.
Why cycling becomes for rich people only day after the other, the bicycles prices are crazy high and not justified, a trek bicycle is in the price of a Japanese car!!!
Where? I've been riding for years and still my hands get numb and my bum hurts. can never get fully comfortable enough to ride more than 40 miles at one time. I have a 1998 cross country Jamis and I'm 5'6", so I'm short. If there is a place in the state of Florida that an expert can adjust me to my bike, it would be worth the trip and charge to finally get it setup to stop the numbness and pain... just before ... I die. :-) thanks.
@@JohnSmith-uy7sv I'm right with you on this. I would give anything to rid myself of the numb hands issue. It really does take the shine off my whole bike ride. The thing is, I do feel that I have the bike fitting pretty well now and yet still the numb hands persist. I'm starting to wonder if I have carpal tunnel syndrome or something.

Can anyone help me? My frame size is 59/60 and I'm 5' 10" tall and while cycling I don't feel any discomfort, but I know that the frame size is a little big for me, so the question is - will it bring me any bad consequences in the long run?
Hi Maksim, if you're not uncomfortable, you're probably ok, but it could be worth popping in to see a local bike fitter and seeing if they have any tips for you about how you can improve your position on the bike.
Global Cycling Network Many thanks for the quick response! While I'm cycling I'm quite comfortable. I don't feel any pain in my knees, nor in back. That's the problem that i have no one to ask. Thanks again! Hope everything will be fine!
Maskin, measure your inseam. I am 5'10" too but my inseam is 83.5 cm or 32.8" and my road bike is 54-56
***** I have nothing left to do, but to ride it. I got used to the size. I dont wanna sell this bike.
Thanks!
I'm 5.11 and that's a 58 frame

I should use like 51/52 frame size... By mistake I bought a 54... Trying to sell the bike... But of course... I'll loose money...
That's a shame - always best to ride the bike before you buy to make sure it's right for you!
Go for a 120 and then you get the best of both worlds!
Ride your bike, ride your bike, ride your bike!
Get a professional bike fit at your LBS.
Make an video: Take your normal beginner cyclist. Take him all out bikefit and all out new bike buy and ride...even one year followup for that. ✌🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻☝🏻
some people just put very long stem to make their bike more cool, so they think
stem length..? different between road and MTB..?
from the moment he mentioned the knee over pedal you know that he does not know what he is talking about. there is no evidence at all or anything that holds this “rule”.
「ビデオコンテンツはとても素晴らしいです、おめで
i see riders all the time, that ride bow legged..? Why do they..? I rode motorcycle for years and was always taught to squeeze the tank with my knees. . On the bike, I have always concentrated on keeping the knees pointed forward and the hips level..
so nice to see you pick your bloody nose GCN
Can I send my picture? :v
What bike?
specialized tarmac
so i can do an onion on my way home from work
So lets get this straight - in order to set my bike up I need to install 'Steam' ... hmmm - does that mean I can play Call of Duty while kicking the breeze with my mates in the peleton.
Why cycling becomes for rich people only day after the other, the bicycles prices are crazy high and not justified, a trek bicycle is in the price of a Japanese car!!!
Literally told us nothing
Oli who?
Load of crap.
If you want to get your position right, seek out an old pro who's done the business.
@@craigherriot4026 If it's not my numb hands then it's the pain in my arm's and shoulders. I had left rotator cuff surgery 2 years ago but still I have pain there and in my left shoulder. I used to love to ride all the time, but can't do it with pain. Just not worth it. Thanks. 😀
A bit of bullshit on biomechanics
