Thankyou for this review. Ive wanted to +up my power generating capabilities on bike. I have been using a 60w solar panel that stored in a pannier and if trailer was in tow, i could attach the 120w panel on the roof but this isnt ideal if i want to charge a battery while simply biking so i looked at hub dynamos and the pedal cell. All reviews of the PC were coming from the company so i was very happy to find this.
Which output did you use for your charging? I am assuming the high output. Did you run lights from the standard 3w output at the same time? That's information I would like to know, what kind of charging do you get when running lights as well as charging? Do you know what the output is? AC or DC? I have heard you cannot run some dynamo hub lights off this "Bottle Type" dynamo. The drag on my Son 28 is unnoticeable so I always have my lights on day and night. When comparing weights you are in a way comparing apples to oranges I'm afraid. You say the weight of the Pedalcell system is comparable to a hub generator setup. What you have missed is with this system you have to have a separate hub as well making the combined weight higher. I am going to be building a new bike up at the end of this month, or early next, and I am interested in getting this instead of a hub dynamo. I live in the UK so buying from you is not an option. I currently have 2 bikes with Son 28 hubs and due to differences in frame and fork, QR to 12mm Thru axle, I am having to buy different parts when I strip one to build up the new one. I am considering this with a regular hub instead of a Son hub.
I use high output to charge phone, other output for GPS device. I have used SON28 setup for many years, so that's where my comparison comes from . Drag is insignificant, and I was able to prove this comparing data across the years on Long rides
Joe, ever since this showed up on my feeds I have been thinking about it. I have been fence sitting on an SP or Son Dynamo hub but just could not justify the spend mostly for the reasons you described. Other than cost the deal breaker has always been that I can't just swap it out with different bike, which limits its utility. This seems like a great compromise and I think you just sold me.
Just checking in, do you still like it? I just tried my first attempt of the tour divide. How do you think it would do in several days of rain? Mud? Day to day rough terrain? Thanks for your review.
hey man - whats your take on the durabilty of the pedalcell? im planing on riding down central and south america but im not sure if the pedalcell is gonna last
Hi - I've been looking for some real world reviews on this product, with your use case seeming fairly similar to mine. Thanks for the info here and on your blog. Any other observations, after your longer term use of it ?

I've heard the output is better than a hub dynamo.
I also like that you can use this product on multiple bikes.
Great channel 👍🚲

I really can't find the disadvantage here...we sell them and ship if you'd like to buy through us.
Hello. Have you run lights through pedalcell?
Just checking in, do you still like it?
