One of my SNES favorites and a great Co-op game. You can choose from a ton of different weapons and items for slaying zombies, aliens, sea creatures and all kinds of classic horror movie monsters. The chainsaw killer was censored to a Lumberjack in the european version… he still tries to kill you though. The credits level at the end is a very nice gimmick.

I always used those blow up laughing clowns 🤡 on the chainsaw masked Jason guys in that level , it was hilarious watching them spin in circles as u made you're escape 😂😂
This game was ahead of its time for the 90s. Story mode was like being in a movie. The kids white shades always reminded me of the dude in back to the future movie who wore white shades too.

The re-release (at least for Steam) was disappointing on re-release. The iconic title screen wasn't there, and they didn't update it to have online co-op.
This game is insanely foundational to my love of horror. It's one of the first horror things - be it a movie, book, show, game, etc - that I was ever exposed to. Some things are so deeply nostalgic they kinda can't be described in simple terms as "I've loved this since I was a kid!" They're more elemental than that. Everything about this game and how it presents its horror in a bright, poppy, comic booky, kinda punk rock-ish way is still an tone and aesthetic I adore when I see it. The way it skewers early 90s suburbia is also deeply imprinted into my psyche, lol.
This game us an absolute classic. I have this game for SNES and Genesis along with a hack with 55 all new levels. This game deserves a re-release on modern game consoles.

Played this a lot when I was a kid round my neighbours house. I’m now 35 and think about this game a lot. I might download it to my Xbox and invite my old neighbour over and bring back some memories with a few cans of beer.
Zombies Ate My Neighbors was originally developed by LucasArts. It was published by Konami, a company already known for platformers in 1993. Music for the game was composed by Joseph "Joe" McDermott. The game was developed on the Super NES, before it was ported to the Sega Genesis about halfway through. The ZAMN engine would later be used for Ghoul Patrol, Metal Warriors and Big Sky Trooper. The developer wanted to include a battery save in the game but was unable to as they could not afford it. The monsters in the game are based on classic horror films released in the 1950s and more modern films like Friday the 13th and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Weapon effectiveness is also based on these depictions; werewolves die in one hit if attacked with silverware and vampires die faster if attacked with the crucifix. In the SNES version of the game, there's a flamethrower which is not included in the Mega Drive version. The North American SNES game was later released with a variant cover art in limited quantities.
This is one of my all time favorite games. Its a game that is just so addicting and the visuals are so amazing to me. Its just weird and cool at the same time. I recreate this character on stardew valley lol.

Pretty sure as a kid, the furthest I made it was Snakeoids. Usually at this point I messed around with the red potions too much that I could no longer turn into the monster. All my bazooka and pandora’s boxes were used up too. I recently got this game again and now I’m making it to the last level. Haven’t beat it though. First time I died. The second time I had all the power ups I needed but the game froze on me just as I was about to go into the room to fight the giant spider.😐

A lot of those go much further back than the 80s. Pod creatures, clones, giant monsters extend from the 30s 40s 50s all the way up. ZAMN is a celebration of horror for all time.

I was born in 1990. My grandma babysat me every day from as a baby to maybe 10 years old. I was in diapers, and she had a Super Nintendo that I always played. I remember playing this game at her house when i was a little kid. Seeing this takes me back to that time. Sadly my grandma passed away in 2016. I miss her.
When I just turned 5 years old my mom surprised me with a Sega Console, I was amazed, pretty good times. Thanks to my momma I became a gamer from that time, this was one of the very first games I had on that kinda casettes you had to put on Sega. I am 25 yrs old now.
