Place a pot with leca under the McDowell ‘s straight growth, keep it moist and let it root, then cut it separating it from the original plant. Shouldn’t lose much for size I imagine as it’s already rooted before you’ve cut it
I keep my Dean McDowell in a Lechuza self-watering Balconera. There's two 40cm sections which actually works well because as yours does, Dean McDowell grows in a fairly straight line, so I let mine grow into the next section and root by itself, and when it's ready and if I feel like it, I just propagate in between the sections and I've got a fresh new mature plant :)
Lol I just got the same pot for mine, he’s outside for summer and in winter he’ll go in my bathroom behind bath tub, I guess lechuza makes bracket for that box but they’re out out of stock at moment
I have a P. Gloriosum Dark Form, definitely not a myth haha. The leaves are darker indeed as compared to the other forms of P. Gloriosums and the white veinings are more pronounced and prominent. Petiole is round instead of D-Shaped, the veining in the petioles are dense and closer to each other. Leaf is quite flat and not as pillowy as the regular form.
Love the McDowell, I keep multiple in the same pot to make it look fuller. With mine I just use a large gallon zip lock bag , fill it with moss, cut the sides halfway down and wrap it around the stem sticking out of the pot. It roots itself super quickly into the moss and then you can give it a chop or let it keep doing it's thing.
I have had a Philodendron El Choco Red Cutting for the longest time now and it finally decided to live! It's growing roots and I am so excited to finally and officially say I have that show stopper in my collection❤
I have my McDowell in a rectangle pot. Last year I cut off all the leaves because it was ugly. Now I have 5 growth points, with leaves growing different directions. It looks better an ever now! Such an easy plant
Your videos always inspire me to extend my plant collection. I absolutely love watching and getting ideas of new plants I’m going to get! Beautiful plants and awesome videos! I hope one day (soon) we can get your fertilizer here in the states! 😊
I think that Dean McDowell deserves a long pot - Lechuza Balconera is great. And since he's tall, he can peek up from behind a couch or have shorter plants in front distracting from the long pot. Talk about jungle vibes! He's done you a solid, and I bet he keeps growing beautifully in the trough. Can't wait to see your house!
Honestly, the feed deserves all the praise it gets. My collection has been very neglected for months due to poor health and barely anything has died and my collection generally looks pretty good - would not have been the case with a competitor brand as a previous health dip didn't have this success 🌿
Tenue can tend to funny light colours sometimes, then you have jose in there so I reckon that hybrid is just light coloured like that - I think it's really pretty!
Are you feeling better?!?! ❤❤❤ How precise are you with your fertilizer, you said you feed all your plants from the same bucket sorta right? I saw that some plants need more, some more sensitive so need less, do you care about that or all gets the same amount?
You will be SO GLAD you put the jose on a moss pole!! I am a moss pole freak, and this is the best grower i have ever had experience growing on one!!! DO IT KAYLEE DOOOOO IT
I would love to see you grow that philodendron hybrid on a moss pole!!! It would be gorgeous. I’ve found that the solid backed moss poles are WAY less annoying than pretty much any other kind I’ve used, they only get watered 1-2 times a week and have a much cleaner aesthetic appeal
I absolutely love my Dean McDowel. It grows upwards. This way I can tie long petioles to the pole and keep it compact. It picked itself to grow this way. My pole is just a stake wrapped with the coco fiber. I never moistened it. It only supports the stem and roots do not grow into the pole. I have seen more Dean McDowels growing upwards, so mine is not a unique one.
Theres a few different growth patterns, though. I'm not necessarily a fan of the climbers - they get so leggy even with good light. But the bush ones are cool, and crawlers are really growing on me.
I did the faffle, Good luck to everyone, I love this idea of giving everyone a chance to win that little lovely. I ordered my feed from your website. I can't wait to get it. I won't order on Amazon. I can't entirely agree with the way the company treats its employees or the damage they do to the environment. I understand you selling with them from a business point of view but I am a tree-hugging hippy at heart and have to go with my heart on no ordering via Amazon.
You should definately put that Sharonii on a pole. Not sure if I spelled it correctly but it was a beautiful plant! Not sure what to tell you about Mr. Dean, he is a bit unruly that one, beautiful none the less, but unruly! I look forward to seeing what you decide to do.
What you're looking for is Lechuza CANTO wider (hella expensive but one large pot) or you go for the BALCONERA 80 with two pots inside. Regarding the powmanii... welp... the hybrids don't like repotting, either. My Mamei looks like I pulled it from the trash right now.
My Dean drives me crazy but I moved to tropical North Queensland in Australia and have put him outside and damn is he sexy. I say he’s best as an outdoor plants because you can stick little caladiums under his leaves which provide shade and the long petioles are a bonus. Hard as an indoor plant though. Such sexy leaves though
Oh no not the raffle 🥵🤣 That is amazing!!! I’ll be kind to my wallet cause it’s just a gamble lol, but a couple entries won’t hurt 😂 Beautiful philo for sure!
I picked up a Dean McDowell x Gloriosum recently from a couple in Australia that has bread them. They call it P route 66 It's definitely got a better petiole to leaf ratio in my opinion 😁
It comes down to hazardous liquid regulations which are a lot different to plant regulations. In the US you have to pass regulations on a state by state basis which is extremely extremely expensive. It costs a substantial sum of money per state that you would want to sell fertiliser in.

That Dean McDowell bit had me rolling 😂😂😂😂 FORWARD IS MY PATH lol - Kaylee you are HILARE to watch

Do you have an insta with a pic? I'd love to see it to compare to my regular one!

Whining from the US....we want your feed too😢
I know right.

I love the shininess of the plowmanii.
I have a nice McDowell in a beautiful Elho long pot! Thank you for your amazing chaos!
Your videos always inspire me to extend my plant collection. I absolutely love watching and getting ideas of new plants I’m going to get! Beautiful plants and awesome videos! I hope one day (soon) we can get your fertilizer here in the states! 😊
'forward is my path' 😂😂😂
I think long petioles look lovely
I am using your feed now loving it grow everywhere
I repotted my dean M in a long rectangular pot recently and it cannot be happier

Yes! Pole it! Take it home!
LOVE my longbois shirt so excited for the new merch :)
You could put a bit of moss around the extended part and root it a bit and then chop off
I still love the Gloriosum, the one that you have as well as the El Choco Red. Yours look so so much better than mine!
Tenue can tend to funny light colours sometimes, then you have jose in there so I reckon that hybrid is just light coloured like that - I think it's really pretty!
Good philo update!
My God I just loooove your videos and your personality 😂❤ always makes me laugh 😁

That gloriosum is freaking gorgeous so raffle ticket bought! Also, I need that shirt and you look beautiful!

My Jose has lighter green leaves so I’m thinking since the Tenue is lighter green too, it’s probably normal for the cross to be light 🤔🇨🇦
"Inheritance" ✊✊🖐️ 😂
LOL Pointy boy 😂. Really got the giggles with that one.
Dark form has round petioles instead of D petioles. Its also has little red edges and petuiole, back sides. Ive got one but its still a baby plants.

I usually don’t care a lot for philodendrons because I don’t like their growth pattern, but man… these are incredible 😩❤️

@@BeckyS you’re right !! I don’t like climbers as well… The crawlers are often beautiful but the growth pattern isn’t easy to manage either
put a pot with growing medium under where he is, and let him root into that :D and you can even place 2 if you wanna cut it in 2 xD
I killed my El Choco by accident, so I'd definitely buy one if you pop them on the shop at any point.
I did the faffle, Good luck to everyone, I love this idea of giving everyone a chance to win that little lovely. I ordered my feed from your website. I can't wait to get it.

Oh no, I was late for the raffel. Better luck next time. Serves me right for watching the video late 😆
Do you have an update on when the feed will be available to the EU market? 🙈

Could you air layer the Dean Mcdowell then chop it once it had roots?
Oh no not the raffle 🥵🤣 That is amazing!!! I’ll be kind to my wallet cause it’s just a gamble lol, but a couple entries won’t hurt 😂 Beautiful philo for sure!
Why not put another pot filled with leca and water under the stem to encourage new root growth before cutting.
Pole it

Do you have a website link for where you bought it?
@@kimcofield it's from floradeco, but you'll have to email them. Their website is definitely not up to date 😅
@@MrPerson101 ok, thanks 🤩
More anthurium content please!!!! Ps tell Ben to check email ;)
Did you get the Billie x el choco from a supplier or did you hybridize it yourself?
Do you ship nurture system to US?
Is your fertilizer available to buy in the US?
Apparently my bank blocked raffal due to the currency exchange.. I tried though. Good luck to who gets it!
So I guess we still can't purchase the plant feed here in the US. What is the problem? If we can buy plants why can't we buy the plant feed???

@@KayleeEllenOfficial Thanks for your reply. So, in a nutshell, we won't be getting it. 😒
I have my dean mcdowell in too much light then 😢
My dean mcdowell is actually climbing, is that weird? Lol
Is it official yet that El Choco Red are called Rubrijuvenile now? Because I prefer the old name😅 Rolls off the tongue better
If I was a plant I’d be a longboi I’m 6 ft 6 inches tall 😏
*The philodendrons I have are the best because of this channel.*
Are you shipping in Canada? I know that our regulations for importing plants can be... difficult and restrictive. 🪴
