    Im a new baby witch so this might sound kinda dumb but,can u use a candle to cleanse the jar at the beginning?..i dont know what to use :(

    • @MysticMarketNH
      @MysticMarketNH  4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      You can use incense smoke, or burn sage, rosemary or cedarwood - all great cleansing methods. You can also use Florida water - we have a recipe for this in our private facebook group. You can also use charged moonwater to cleanse and clear. Candles typically aren't used for cleansing.

    im a baby witch and was wondering if I could use rosemary (fresh), amethyst crystal, and salt for a protection spell, for that's all I have on hand. or do I need certain materials for my protection spell to work properly

    question, if i’m making it for a friend does it have to be on them or in their possession in order for it to work?

      I would recommend it be in a place where they can see it often to serve as a reminder of the intent. :)

    i was wondering if using palo santo is closed practice? i’m mixed with a lot but mainly latina african and indigenous. is it safe for me to use?

    • @MysticMarketNH
      @MysticMarketNH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Here is what I know - My understanding is that there are two trees called Palo Santo. Which is why there is such confusion about it. Palo Santo from the threatened Bulnesia sarmientoi tree is dark and reddish, like mahogany. Palo Santo from sustainably harvested Bursera graveolens, such as what I use is a yellowish-tan, similar to pine, and sometimes streaked with darker shades of gray or brown. Bulnesia Sarmiento, the threatened type of Palo Santo, grows in the Gran Chaco region of Northern Argentina and Southern Paraguay.
      I also buy from a company that only gathers their palo santo from fallen trees that have aged. I also have had my one stick of Palo Santo for about 11 months lol. :)
      My practice is based on the use and energy of items within nature. I am not "stealing" anyone's culture. I am not being disrespectful and I am ethically purchasing my palo santo. Again, I can't even tell you the last time I purchased it. I purchased a bag of 7 sticks probably about 1 year ago and I haven't even used up one. :)
      In my heart, I do not believe Mother Nature intended on one person or culture claiming a natural item. (that is my own personal belief) I respect all cultures and their practices and will do my part to make sure the items I do buy are from ethical companies & sources. I will also do my part to respect the plant spirits and give them my gratitude. I am very respectful within my practice. I'll also mention there are certain practices that I won't perform as I am not trained in them; such as smudging ceremonies.
      Also, if I may add, everyone always picks on Palo Santo and Sage as being sacred and cultural. There are indeed many plants that are sacred besides those two. Tobacco, cedar, & sweetgrass, just to name a few.
      If people are going to be upset & cry cultural appropriation over the use of one sacred plant then they need to be upset by all the others as well (and typically they aren't and they don't even know that there are other sacred plants)....they can't pick and choose which ones they are going to be upset over. (this was not directed at you personally, I am generalizing and trying to answer the best way I can without sounding like a jerk lol)
      And since I lean heavily on the Green witch side, I've also been exploring using other cleansing methods such as sounds, breath and intention cleansings verses using plants and herbs. I hope I was helpful with my answer. :) Blessed be.

      You can cleanse your bottles with many different things. Smoke from sage, palo santo, Florida water, cedar, sandalwood, - many many cleansers. You can replace any of the herbs with herbs that have protective qualities. Rosemary is a good one.

    How do I get rid of the jar when I'm finished with it ?

    • @MysticMarketNH
      @MysticMarketNH  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      When I make protection jars I do not typically get rid of them...as I always want protection. I would recharge the item every now and again to reaffirm my intentions. If you do want to get rid of the item I would bury the contents and thank mother earth for receiving them and I would cleanse and reuse the jar. But, as I said, I don't typically dismantle a protection jar because that is ongoing.
