    Sometimes I need a simple pattern to fall into as I try to figure out what the band director is trying to signal. Having rhythms like these "in my pocket" is super handy. Thanks!!

    We agree,we bought Bongos years ago and was ready to toss it out.
    The issue was with no training we did not know placement.
    Our fingers got sore hitting the rim. So every one lost
    interest . Now we are energized. So, thanks Kalani.
    Also sharing this with readers:
    My sibling has a bruise lip from the Trumpet.
    My best friend has hearing loss from his gigs.
    Now to produce music entertainment without the side effects?

    I would love to hear you suggest is different bongo patterns to different song beats. 4/4 3/4 6/8.
    What I would *really* like to hear is snippets of actual songs (if you don’t get into copyright problems).

    PS, I have had excellent success using old X-RAY NEGATIVES for bongo heads! BTW the black scrapes right off once you tighten the head and play it for a few days, so look like a normal clear head.

    • @nicks4802
      @nicks4802 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I recommend perhaps getting yourself a tuning key or a tool of some king that fits the little bolts that tighten the skin to your drum.
      Loosen for more boom, tighten for more pop,
      Just be sure to turn each tuning peg an equal amount, and dont turn too much or you’ll have a loose skin thats out of tune.
      Bare in mind, you may just have a pair of trebley bongos, which aren’t bad, but perhaps not that deep sound you were after.
      A shallow, high pitched bongo can only tune down so low.
      Remember that.

    Hello. I've recently gotten a pair of LP performer Series bongos and I'm struggling with the sound of them. When I tune them up they tend to have a lot of really bad overtones that sometimes change in pitch a half step when I play the same stroke with another hand. I checked if the tuning was even and if the hardware was decent and both seem to be right. So I've started to think that maybe my technique was off. When I play, I hit the drum with the last third of my ring, middle, and pointer fingers and let the tips bounce off. should I instead let parts of my fingers stay on the drum to mute the overtones? or is my playing good and it's the drum skin that may need replacement? Thanks.

    • @lishavi6607
      @lishavi6607 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought a bongo set LP Aspire 601, size "6 3/4-8". I can't get the distinctive crisp and high pitch that i hear on most videos about bongos. The highest note i can get safely on the macho is less than 330 Hz, which is E3 on piano. I guess the macho diameter head is too small and i should have bought a bigger model.
