They were getting ice treats.
By the way, Genki's belly seems to be getting even bigger.
She is healthy except for her cavities, so maybe she has gained some weight.

He is hesitant in new situations and is a loner.
His father died before he was born, and he had never spent time with a silverback.
He had already turned into a silverback by the time he was 10 years old.
He is struggling with unfamiliar child-rearing.
MOMOTARO's father is BIJU.
MOMOTARO's mother is MOMOKO
Mother GENKI ♀ (1986/6/24)
She is 14 years older than Momotaro and has a role to support the whole family mentally.
She has had a tumultuous and eventful life.
She has returned to her birthplace, Kyoto City Zoo.
She had never been blessed with a baby but after meeting Momotaro,
she had two sons.
She is a very maternal female gorilla.
GENKI's father is MAKK.
GENKI's mother is HIROMI.
First son GENTARO, male (2011/12/21)
He was separated from his mother Genki soon after he was born.
Genki's milk production was not very good.
He was raised by his keeper for his first10 months.
Because of this, he is very fond of humans.
His face is so expressive, and everyone enjoys watching him.
Second son KINTARO ♂ (2018/12/19)
He is just very strong-willed and independent.
He has big eyes and long eyebrows.
The way he plays a lot with his brother Gentaro makes everyone smile.
We can't wait to see what kind of gorilla he'll become!

Great video, GL! Loved learning Genki's measurements. For me, personally, I'm less concerned about the size of Genki's belly than I am about her overall health. And from what I've seen in your videos, from last fall, this is the healthiest Genki has been in a long time. Her energy levels are up, we see her at the ceiling more frequently, and she doesn't appear to have had bouts of diarrhea. She's getting regular dental check-ups and treatment. And I trust the keepers monitor her nightly food intake. Let's face it, Genki is blessed with a healthy appetite.😊

My priority is Genki's health. She is actually at an age where she is high risk for pregnancy and if she gets pregnant and gets another dental infection they may not treat her with antibiotics. I care more about Genki than her getting pregnant again. She is a beautiful mom and would be a great surrogate like Freddie but I dont see this happening in Japan. Let her have a peaceful existence for the duration of her life. There is no perfect situation or answer. Just my opinion. I have a 20 year background caring for pregnant moms and neonates so this information comes from experience. And yes I know gorillas are not like humans but age is a factor. And potential risk factors. An example would be Momoko with Haoko's group. She had a tough pregnancy and she is advanced in age. I only say this with love and care for Genki and all moms.
Given your background, I appreciate your opinion on the subject. Since we share 98.6% DNA with our 'cousins' and the gorilla's gestation is 8 1/2 months, it is feasible that many pregnancy features are the same. I also agree, why take a risk? Her two sons both are quite active though at different stages of their lives. No doubt, Kintaro would be jealous of a little one's taking all of mom's attention. The risk with Gentaro is the need to demonstrate his strength - the possibility that he would 'fly' by mom/baby and give them a push or a slap causing injury.

@donataj2213 Genki only has 2 offspring, Gentaro and Kintaro. The zoo"s Instagram account is a reliable source to check for OFFICIAL announcements concerning the troop. Gorilla Life is also in daily contact with the zoo.

Possibly the video distributor must have released the video by using a past footage with baby Kintaro.
On other channels, they reuse old footages.
In terms of the quarrel or dispute , a channel reposts the same scenes again and again.
I still wish they could have a baby girl. Genki is a fabulous mother for sure
I imagine that her stature, being shorter than Momotaro and Gentaro, makes the weight distribute and look larger as well.
Genki is a beautiful mother. She's gone through a lot. Genki will lose her belly in due time after her teeth are treated and it's all right even if she doesn't.

I just got done eating water melon,its hot in Kentucky,USA,in around 95 degrees, which feels like over 100,its humid here, but cold watermelon I bet they would love, nice to eat when hot., and it has alot of water in it on good for hydration.

How often does this zoo perform wellchecks? Is Genki acclimated to ultrasounds? My concern is that uterine or ovarian cancer can cause a pregnant-like appearance as hormones are out of balance. If her breasts enlarge and/or she reacts negatively when they're touched, then I'd get her examined pronto.
I understand the process of hind-gut fermentation, but that's *always* happening, it shouldn't make such a visible change in circumference in a healthy gorilla.

Genki is short for a female isn't she, I wish you could give out measurements of the rest of the family, but I guess he that would be hard to do.,, you probably check Genkis, when you are checking her teeth, do you have to put her to sleep?

Yes, Miss Hina is the main caretaker for the gorillas.
Gentaro plays with the zookeepers less frequently but he loves them.
Kintaro is still a child. Yes he does it all the time but from our side, we find it hard to see such a scene since the bushes are being expanded.
The zookeepers put oil or lotion on the apes’ hands, which they love.
Actually the zookeepers apply.

Meus dois amores Kintaro e Genki, a linda Genki realmente está com distensão abdominal, concordo que Genki pode ser treinada para procedimentos como, ultrassonografia, raio X, Genki teve um problema dentario sério, que causou muito sofrimento e não está curado, fico preocupada com a Genki, amo essa gorila inteligente, forte, mãe extraordinária, doce, interessante, ela é o pilar da família,. Não vejo Genki a vontade com Gentaro, ela na maioria das vezes tem medo dele e fica muito ansiosa, acho absurdo essas insinuações maldosas, mas é proprio do ser humano, espero que o Zoo preste atenção se está aparecendo os dentes da arcada superior do lindo Kintaro, eu li que tem pedaço de dente, espero que Kintaro tenha dentes saudáveis.
