    Anyone watching this clamp the shifter rod first then cover the knob with a terry towel and use a strap wrench around the terry towel hold the clamp in place and proceed to loosen it helps to have someone hold the clamp steady while you twist the knob off.

      Always before you make your decision to buy always research because you will be living with that decision for a long time. I almost bought the stillen shifter and Stillen gave me such a hard time canceling the order and even charged me a 15% restocking fee on a item I never received. I’m never buying from stillen again.

    This works perfect on 370 Z‘s if they do not have a black box blocking the two lower bolts that go into the fork otherwise you’re going to have to remove the black boxes to remove the lower fork bolts I have a G 37 sedan 2012 S model manual transmission and I found out this hard way.

  • @simonhughes7382
    @simonhughes7382 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Most how-to guides advise to have alternate mole grips or similar on both the knob and the shaft so that when you put that much force anti clockwise on the knob, you support the shaft twisting clockwise, so force on the lower assembly is reduced and you're not damaging the lower mechanical parts/ box.

    Second on removing the stock shifter without damages. I even try to use the rubber torque grip and not vice grip hoping to save it for mementos to no avail. What year is your Z? And how did you keep your 14mm bolts so clean? Mine is a '09 and pretty much all 14mm bolts that I had tried to removed so far are rusted/ or stripped. At one point, I gave up after sawzall'ed the bolts out of the exhaust system and paid the the mechanic a whole day to torch the last few ones to put in the HFC. Been following you for a while and found you originally by looking for review of the RJM Clutch Pedal Kit.
    My Z shifter now is rattling at 2500~3500 rpm and seemed to improved after my recent oil change. I'm unsure if the problem was from the transmission mounts but I might as well replace the urethane transmission mounts & this shifter if I have to go back under the car and struggle.. lol

    • @milanmastracci
      @milanmastracci  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah I don't know how the shift knob could be salvaged.. My Z is a '14 and barely sees rain, let a lone snow and salt. Yeah some of those exhaust bolts can be a huge pain in the a**. Eh that's awesome! Thanks for sharing that! 👊
