As a nineties kid and a rail fan from a young age, I get a wash of nostalgia seeing phase III F40PHs, Amfleets, and Horizons. Also those grey and red SP engines bring back a lot of childhood memories.
Lots of really interesting stuff in here. The last P42s delivered in Phase 3 in the 110 series went straight to the Starlight pool and then immediately got Phase 5, so this is rare footage.
@jamesg2609 thank you. Finding this information is like pulling teeth from a mountain lion. Everything out there is locked behind some kind of pay wall it seems and I'm not willing to pay money for information that may not even be what I was looking for. Honestly this has been the most informative message I've ever gotten back...
20:06 I noticed that ex-Metroliner cab retained its small 10th window - not many of the cab car conversions seemed to have that, said window usually getting blanked out, bringing the number of windows down/matching that of an Amfleet coach.
Back in 2018 I took the Southwest Chief from Albuquerque to LA, and then the Pacific surfliner LA to San Luis then bus to San Jose and then the capital to Fairfield
Best west coast train video i have seen on u tube, lots of great footage of different locos and lash ups of cars on the old SP lines. love the wig wag crossings.
+BNSF1995 Valhalla Video Productions also produced Surf Line Commuters which covering the Entire Surfline from Los Angeles to San Diego in 1998 on VHS and In 2007 on DVD and Soladad Canyon Cabride in 2002 on VHS.
The Onboard Scenes were filmed on June 1st 2000 when The Pacific Surfliner started service on that day which is Why This was Filmed in Cabcar 6900 with F59PHI 457 behind it.
+TommyPickles Fan1992 Their was a TH-cam video I came across your channel name and you provides links to all the other train videos you had on Google Drive, What was that video called? I forgot.

It's nice to see AMTK 252, now Amtrak Cascades 90252, have the same bell that it has today in this video.

That AAPRCO special at 6:09, was it on it's way to attend the annual 1995 Private Car convention in Nelson BC.

Can you recall any of the names of the through freight from the 1994-96 era? Or just how many freight trains a day ran the line?

very enjoyable...great variety!
Crazy… i don’t even think wig wags are still around
I own this DVD! It's called "Coastliners Part 1" by Valhalla Video Productions. They advertised Part 2, but I'm not sure if it ever came out.
+BNSF1995 What did they say about what was in part 2?
San Luis Obispo-Santa Barbara.
And then I assumed part 3 would be Santa Barbara-San Jose, and part 4 would be San Jose-Sacramento.
+BNSF1995 Valhalla Video Productions also produced Surf Line Commuters which covering the Entire Surfline from Los Angeles to San Diego in 1998 on VHS and In 2007 on DVD and Soladad Canyon Cabride in 2002 on VHS.
+BNSF1995 Do you mean San Luis Obispo to San Jose/CP Coast was in Part 3?
+BNSF1995 It did!
GO Transit Bi-Levels were once here? Didn't think that was possible

I was hoping to hear some recordings of Metrolink's mythical Ohio Brass Air Whistles...

+TommyPickles Fan1992 Their was a TH-cam video I came across your channel name and you provides links to all the other train videos you had on Google Drive, What was that video called? I forgot.

The City of Los Angeles was the last privately-operated intercity passenger train in California.
At 1:50 you mentioned the 2 Genesis locomotives well they were P32 not P42. It debuted in 1995 and 1998.
Those are P42DCs. The P32AC-DMs are in the 7xx series, and were delivered to New York, and the furthest away they've been from NY is Indiana.
Wow 2472! Niles Canyon owns it now.
19:47 The Operation Lifesaver Unit!
I agree! 😃
At 55:33 it looked the engineer flipped the bird to the cameramen.
