I believe it could be the Slime, or the steep angle on the handle bar stem addressing the wobble. Called the Rake. Adjusting that could solve pedal foot clearance and the wobble. I use a alarm system for a Horn.
Wobble was from the wight of the front rack and rear cargo basket. Once those were removed the wobble was gone. Haven't had any issue with the slime creating any wobbles or shakes. My step thru is set of for trail riding, so all racks and fenders came off and it is a fantastic riding bike.
I removed the front tube in the tire and replaced it with a new one with no slime and the wobble is gone.Cargo package is still installed .problem is solved.I bought the bike to use on the street and I am very pleased with it now.
That slime is what i suspect. Tires ballance just like a car. A car has powersteering. These don't. The Rake angle could really help. That could address the foot clearance issue too. I don't have baskets because of this wobble.
they should probably recall the Step Through. 😅 i think you’re right,, if someone isn’t aware of that wobble and it happens at speed, they will crash! Lectric should send people either the high step as replacement, or a refund.
I have not experienced any wobble yet on my Xpeak Hi step. Have 12 miles on it so far I love it. I will keep a look out for the wobble. My only issue so far it I don't like the seat and with the large basket on the back I have a hard time getting my leg over the empty basket. I currently have the small basket on the back. Also I'm 6'3" so I put a riser under the handle bars and it's about 4 inches higher. Glad I did that for sure. I have been riding a large framed Raleigh Mtn bike for years and I have a riser on that along with a more comfortable seat.
To get rid of the wobble on the step thru, I had to remove the front basket and mount, and the rear cargo basket. I do plan on rising the handlebars too, but just maybe get a set of bars with a rise instead of a stem riser. Will have to see how much extra break line I have first.
Nice review, we have both the step thru and hi step. The frame on the hi step seems more rigid and a better choice off-road. I have had no issue with a wobble on the hi step. My friend was riding the step thru and did experience the wobble issue however I read if you have the front lug nut to tight or to lose it can cause the wobble. I loosened the nut about 1/2 a turn and tightened the rear nut as it seemed loose. I also tightened the top Allen nut on the steering stem and issue went away. We are not using the baskets. We did a 22 mile run yesterday using pas2 1/2 way and pas4 to 5 1/2 way back and had 1/4 bars left. Amazing bike so smooth and quiet. We test road the Aventon aventure 2 and found the ride far more ruff and handled poorly even the motor was very loud. I really feel these ebikes are the best all around for the money you can find. Keep the reviews coming ! Thanks
I removed both front basket and mounting rack, and the rear cargo basket and the problem went a away. I plan on using this for off-roading probably more then cruising, but want to show both for those who want it for cruising and the for those who want it for off-road. I really like the smooth power delivery, I think this will work good off-road, and no surprises for those who want to use it as a cruiser. Glad you are having no issues and enjoying your new rides.
There are some fixes they are recommending that I am going to try, but yeah, this is an issue they should of addressed before releasing it to the public.
If you take a look on their website at the step over vrs the step through, you will see that the step over has the bottom bracket set back a little further than the step through. Both bikes have a very short wheelbase it appears like. I think a lot of the problem that is popping up with this bike is the fact that Lectric tried to market this as a E mountain bike. Expectations now become that this is more capable of doing that then the vast majority of other online ebikes out there. Hopefully the issues with his bike get resolved.
I'd be happy if the step thru didn't try to kill me riding with the rear basket on a paved road. i could forgive it not handling real trails as a step thru. the marketing around this bike was around safety and standards. i don't know how the step thru passed any standards tests. perhaps if you strip it to just the frame it is significantly better... but that's not how it's sold.
There are some suggested fixes I am going try. But yes, the geometry of this bike is more for off road then street cruising. So my expectation was that this was not going to be an awesome street cruiser, but more a o decent trail rider for an fat tire e-bike with okay street cruising.
Hi Lance…….curious……it seems you like the rad…..my wife bought me one for Christmas…..did you buy this bike for more off-road and the rad for cruising?
Yes. The Rad is a super nice cruiser that I love. Best bike for cruising I have so far. It is capable of off road riding, but more of the fire roading, dirt road and smoother dirt type trails. I am hoping, if I can fix the wobble, issue I can ride rougher trails on the Xpeak.
Wow that wobble is strange! I wonder how they tested it and accepted the wobble as something that people wouldn’t mind. I think that for a brand new ebike, that would be a deal breaker for sure. The bike sounds really quiet though so that’s nice and those tires are nice looking. Wonder how this bike rates against other mountain e-bikes?
My thoughts exactly. It seems that they either never tested it themselves, or just said let see what happens. Everything else about the bike works great with no other complaints, other then the front fender hit your foot on sharper turns.
It has been dealt with. The weight of the cargo racks was the problem on the step thru. After removing them the problem stopped. Still not good for those who want all the cargo capacity.
That wobble should be a deal-breaker for everyone. Your toe hitting the fender is called toe overlap. I wouldn't buy a bike that had it. No mirrors, bell, low bar height, and short wheelbase because it's designed to be a mountain bike. Then they put racks, baskets, fenders, and a step-thru frame, which a real mountain bike wouldn't be caught dead with. Strange mix of design and components.
There trying to appeal to a wide audience. Some will use it just to ride around on paved trails and bike lanes, and other will try some trail riding. I dont think there intent was to make it competitive with mountain bikes that are designed for hard riding, but more for fire roading and easy trails for the casual rider.
get rid of the baskets. that helps with the wobble. but of course, many people want the baskets. and it's not a 100% cure. don't stand up while riding with the baskets.,. especially if going over any bumps. i have both the high step and step thru. this is behaviour exclusive to the step thru. the front fender foot issue exists with both types. only option is to remove it or cut that trailing bit off. edit: also if you are raising the handlebars, be aware that the hydraulic brake line for the front tire has very little excess slack. Which is surprising considering the mile of extra you get for all the other stuff coming out of the frame port.

I took the baskets off. Rear rack has pannier bags. Have not replaced the tube's yet to address the wobble.
I dont thing you will need to repalce the tubes. I have no issues with the wheel.
It’s the front basket that causes the wobble 💀
Combination of front and rear basket.
I removed the front tube in the tire and replaced it with a new one with no slime and the wobble is gone.Cargo package is still installed .problem is solved.I bought the bike to use on the street and I am very pleased with it now.
Thats great. Did you change out the tube in the back too, or just the front.
That slime is what i suspect. Tires ballance just like a car. A car has powersteering. These don't. The Rake angle could really help. That could address the foot clearance issue too. I don't have baskets because of this wobble.

My high step Xpeak fully racked and my 300lb self has been 38mph on a 6% grade, wobble free
High step is having the same problem when weight is placed on the back rack.
My XPeak performs flawlessly. I had mine set up by a local bike store. I suggest everyone who isn't an expert do the same.
Gooad advice.
Hey Lance good job! Hope you find the reason for the wobble
Thank you. I have read up on a few ideas to tackle the problem.
I’ve read from several posts that removing the front basket eliminates it. I’ve not had it, no front basket, and step through.
Removing the front and rear baskets does help a lot, but does not totally eliminate it completely.

I also have the same bike. I had to remove the rear backet. Then I did not have the wobble on the front end! I could not put load onto the rear rack.
Unfortunately, that seems to be what helps.
I believe Richard from e bike reviews had that same issue with the weebble wabble. Time for Lectric to go back to the drawing board.
There are some fixes they are recommending that I am going to try, but yeah, this is an issue they should of addressed before releasing it to the public.

I was gonna get this like till I saw this review. But what bike would you recommend like this
I would look into the Himiway Zebra, Himiway Cobra and Cyrusher Ranger or Trax.
Hi Lance…….curious……it seems you like the rad…..my wife bought me one for Christmas…..did you buy this bike for more off-road and the rad for cruising?

Very good review... But the wobble??? No thanks.
I just bought an XP3 and I constantly have peddle strikes. Not happy!
Sorry to hear that. I did fix the wobble issue, but now I dont have any cargo capacity.

Ok I just wondered because he is like the 3rd youtuber who showed they were experiencing the same issue.
Wobble on a bicycle is not good! I wouldn’t feel safe on this.
It has been dealt with. The weight of the cargo racks was the problem on the step thru. After removing them the problem stopped. Still not good for those who want all the cargo capacity.
The wobble is usually due to frame flex & you see it much more on step through bikes. Lose the front basket that should help
Yes, had to lose the front and rear baskets to solve the issue. Thanks for the tips.
My wifes has a wobble but mine did not. Not sure what it is
Do you both have the step thru.
That wobble should be a deal-breaker for everyone. Your toe hitting the fender is called toe overlap. I wouldn't buy a bike that had it.

Nice run. There are definitely a couple of issues that you pointed out. Hopefully, you get the wobble sorted out
I have read about some fixes that I am going to try, and I am hoping it fixes tha wobble issue.
get rid of the baskets. that helps with the wobble. but of course, many people want the baskets. and it's not a 100% cure.
