- Alcatraz Island is a small island offshore from San Francisco, California. The island was developed in the mid-19th century with facilities for a lighthouse, a military fortification, and a military prison. In 1934, the island was converted into a federal prison, Alcatraz Federal Penitentiary. The strong currents around the island and cold water temperatures made escape nearly impossible, and the prison became one of the most notorious in American history. Alcatraz Island was once the most secure federal prison in the USA and held notorious inmates. The most impressive parts of the tour were inside. The tour was informative and very interesting. If you’re going to Alcatraz, it’s more than worth your time to check out the island and learn about the prison. There is a ton of cool looking vegetation on the island overall. It’s pretty cool and a part of history. If you decide to go you have to book way in advance as it sells out quick. Overall it's a great tour and Nice boat ride to the island with great views of the surrounding areas 👍

I visited the prison in August 1 1998 .
Where did the three prisoners come off the top of the roof at? that's what I'd want to see. and maybe the trail that they might have went down to the water? I know it was some pipes that come from the top down to the ground but where? I think that's interesting. and they ever show it.
Alcatraz should be open like prison again.
Since it is abandoned from long back, not sure if there is any possibility.
