I was thinking "Why are they covering that beautiful wood?" Then when they flipped it over, I thought "Oh, it still looks nice on the inside." Then, they covered that, too! 😢
That was seriously awesome! I have done small fiberglass repairs on projects for years, but wow what a difference vacuum bagging makes! Thank you for taking the time to film and edit all of these adventures with us. Keep up the good work.
Just watching all of that glass and carbon makes my skin itch. Maybe I do it wrong but I always seem to itch for a week after playing with fiberglass. The boat looks like it is coming along nicely. Happy Birthday Jetty, make sure you get kisses from mom and dad. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Wow! I know this is such a project of love for Billy and it has been great to watch it come to fruition. I think we are all just so excited to see your new Cat that we are on the edge of our (helm) seats! 😂 Those Jetty shirts, tho. I love the design with the flags in the bandana. Happy birthday to our favorite canine gypsy!! xoxo
8 days and counting down. 👏 How about doing a live or at least an Instagram post. I cannot wait to see your faces when you see her for the first time.😍
One would think, but the wood covered was pretty blah. Think of it as covering the blah to accent the bling. There was some pretty wood left without carbon that will show up clear when finished.
Very involved processes. A genius use of carbon fiber. Only real-time experience can work out the sequence of steps. I look forward to seeing this in the water. By the way, what is the name of the song at 3:40 ?
Cool boat, but why did you build a wooden boat if you will see nothing of the beautiful wood? Wouldn't been easier to do a fiberglass/carbon canoo? Dumb question I know...
Great project! I love seeing this technology in process. I'm curious, what becomesoff all the excess and process materials; all the plastics and synthetics, especially? Does it all go in a landfill, or worse...to "recycle" in China, et al.? Can those materials be re-used? I see...not. 😮I LOVE boating, sailing, diving...but this just makes me feel hopeless about our planet. God, I wish it didn't.
Look ! This looks like a fun thing to do. But! You don't have any place to put it on the Boat. And it is just wasting time. WE WANT TO SEE THE NEW Boat. It is Obvious that ya'll have seen it and that you already have the Boat. So let's get to it already. Hopefully you will show it some day. But I am Running out of Patience! So show us the New Boat!!!!! It's ben 5 Years already. Ok I am going snorkeling this morning to cool down. So until next time. Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!
Epoxy does not “require” masks as it is low in VOC’s and the Total Boat brand is very low odor. The bagging process also encloses the surface while in cure stage. Now once the sanding starts, respirators are a requirement. The shop also has two air scrubbers to pick up any particulates.
You obviously don't care how much plastic waste you're creating !!! Remember this project is just a toy for you to go play in. You don't even need it. Have a good long think mate.

I bet it all gets painted for UV protection
I was thinking the same! Probably necessary, but such a pity!😮
awww man yall covered the beautiful natural wood look.
It is super cool to relive that project! I had a blast, and enjoyed every minute of it.

Love the new design with Jetty! I'm a huge fan of older dogs!

We loved seeing this come together!
Well there goes the nice wooden look.

I made a splitter for my car and it its quite a process! And that peel-a-ply, man I was feeling ya there, remembering my fingers hurting!
I have been carnivore for 140 days and I feel great. My dog eats the same menu. Good job on the boat!
Poor dogo does he know he is in the menu lol

My oldest brother lives in that town. Hi Bill.
Covering up that beautiful wood? You may as well of used foam core.
I use a lot of these methods in aircraft maintenance composites repairs

Not enough Sierra smiling in this one. 😁. Lol
How are you going to get this to your boat and where are you going to keep it on your boat?
Hella cool you guys

Cedar is a wonderful core material, far better properties than foam.

Are you tempted to name the boat "Cheap Taco" or "Wet Taco"...?!
👍

Truly a shame to bury all that beautiful wood.

Why use that pretty wood if you were just gonna cover it with carbon? Such a waste 😭
Hope that building has good ventilation? None of you are wearing masks?
😮

Stop using foam rollers, they are useless.
where are you going in it?
You will see it's purpose, another big adventure Billy has been thinking about for years.
Truly a shame to bury all that beautiful wood.
