The fact that I completely remember all the noises.
me too and I didn't played it for years
Bruh...... I can remember EVERYTHING 🤣
noises? it's pure music bruh.
Orrghh! Hew! Yar-Eaurgh!
Mee too...want to play it again.. 😍😍
As a kid I watched my dad play this almost everyday. I had no clue what was going on but I loved it sm. Everything about this is nostalgia
I watched my brother play it
sameee, i tried it myself but i had no idea what was supposed to be done lmao so i never got past the first stuff
you gotta play it. it was the best Singleplayer strategy game of its time
My dad played this game as well. Amazingly entertaining as a child
I would watch my uncle play and I recently just asked him what this game was, so now I’m trying to figure out how to play
My first PC game ever. I didn't sleep for days when I 1st played it. Got me addicted to RTS games.
S B lol mine to. I played the shit out of this game when i was 12.
I can easily say...i would destroy this gamer playing in the video hahaha🦍
My first RTS was Dune 2. But i have also invested hundreds of hours in this cool game. :-)
Im pretty jealous. I wish I had this in my childhood
I love the game🤤☯️
Also my first PC game experience together with quake 2 and Motorcross Madness, but AOE was my favorite, made me interested in world History ended up playing Assassins Creed games on later years
Okay how is this literally the only video I can find of Age of Empires 1 free play gameplay with no narration? This is a national treasure.
Nothing can beat the music from aoe 1. It's legendary
Better than DE edition 2019.
@Manuel l isn’t that strange how actual music from artist and bands can get old or you’re just tired of listening to it but the same song in a video game, you can listen to literally every day and we don’t have a problem with it lol I just find it interesting
Not a fan of this music at all tbh. Always turned it off because it was so annoying
@@TheBezerker14 I think that's partly due to video game music being made with consumers listening to them for hours on loop in mind. And I think in that sense it makes video game music somewhat more contemporary than "regular" music.
But also I gotta agree with José that the original is still better than the DE songs. They are more refined but they don't capture the same feelings. However that could also just be us fans being nostalgic about it.
Habadagus. Yeah the music was good
As a kid I played this for hours and it got me to the point that I started to love history, and guess what? As a grown man I am now a historian :D It is so strange to think if not for my brother (who got this game from somewhere) it might be that I would not be a person I am now.

@@KevinKleinman180 yeah my mom taught me this game
I remember playing one mission for weeks as a kid cuz i didn't knew english so didnt knew what game wanted me to do lol, but i never got bored playing this masterpiece.Damn the nostalgia is real

Damn, when you heard the war trumpets then clicked over to see what was going on and the first thing you hear is a bunch of WOLOLOLOs and you drop everything to find your closest thing on horseback lol.

I feel like most strategy games nowadays concentrate too much on graphics, which is too flashy but forgot the playable features.
Agree
Yeah there is not single 1 strategy game the last 15 years that can compare with age of empires 1 , Zeus(1990) or command conquer generals 3, today games are biggest trash i swear
This game was so incredibly before it’s time. They still dominate this style of game to this day.

Ah, the good old days where you couldn't even queue stuff.
what does that mean, queue what
@@alainportant6412 queue means to create a list of units to be created.... In the original version of Age of Empires you could only create an individual one at a time in a certain building... but with a queue you create a waiting list in a building at the expense of your resources
I remember playing this when I was like 8 on my dads computer. Those were the days man
This game pretty much gobbled up most of my free time during the summer of '98.
Lol I played this game in the early 2000s
That was when I was born... lmao.
Same. I'd be in 5th grade trying to figure out how many ballistas and war Elephants I needed.

I absolutely loved this game back in the day ! We had some epic battles back then, brings back memories
Omg this brings back so many memories!!! me and my friend used to sleep over all the time to play this all night! We had so much fun even though we didn’t know any English so it was hard to understand what you were supposed to di
I love the sound of MIDI music.
Better than DE 2019.
we didn't even have polyphonic ringtones on our cellphones until the mid 2000 or something
Ooooohh this feels sooo nostalgic, used to play this with my best friend like all the time
Absolute legend of RTS style games... I remember downloading the trial game at 150 mb, it took 2 days on a dial-up internet connection, and god forbid if you lost connection you had to start the download all over...
Oh God, dial up lol. "You've got mail!"
Good times. Its funny you can only create one villager or warrior at a time. Made the game go on longer. Also i really appreciate the animation. Good feels. Brings back great memories.

im 14 but somehow this is the game that i first played as a kid. i found it in an old garage sale and put it in my computer. loved it so much. i think it was the rise of rome one.
How I loved this game. Made some great friends online at the time and we’d fight online against other clans.

Only game I played. Still in love. And still playing from the childhood.. ❤️
I still have my uncles copy of AOE from when he was a young adult. He’s 48 now. We sometimes make contests. Start on the same map, same stats, and whoever wins first wins the contest. I miss doing that with him. He lives half way across the United States from me
Isn't that how all matches are played? Like how else would you do it?
Well you can do it on two separate maps but then theres different variables so it makes sense to do it on the same map (if that make sense)@@XYZ_55
I don't know how but, my dad bought this game when I was 6 years old. Several years later, my family's computer crashed. Now I am 17 years old, and I wish to play that game again. :')
Even if you didnt fight others it was fun and cool enough just to build your way through since the beggining, getting all the resources etc
I realize now that the boat's noise, when selected, is meant to be the creaking of its wooden frame, but because all the characters use a deep voice very similar to it I guess I always thought it was also a guy talking, saying "ee eee" in a deep voice.
Omg…. you just changed my whole life with this comment lmao I totally thought it was some type of throat singing this WHOLE time 🤣
I miss Age of Empire 1 and Red alert 2 so much, i played those games ALOT when i was younger those game hade some much replayability and their where so much fun and i enjoyed them alot, and watching this gameplay gives me so much flashbacks from Age of Empire 1
The nostalgia kick
Nostalgia. Best game music themes of all time
First played this game in 2010, I was young starting it off, booted off a old burned CD from my older brother when he used to game late 90s to early 2000s, gotta say I never played the game for awhile but when I played it again in 2018 it was so nostalgic, 4 years later I’m rocking definitive edition which I got a few days ago, the first age of empires alongside AOE II will be by far my most loved strategy games of all time 👑
You're a young'n. Glad to see you love this game. I played in the late 90s as a kid. I would spend time at school devising battle plans 😂
played this game when I just little kid at the cafenet, so many good memories
it refreshed my memories i used play it when i was 6 i had no idea how meaningful was it thanks bro
Wow,it's nostalgia!! Who is here in 2019???
mmm the video was uploaded in 2019 so...
Couldn’t remember this for years I loved playing this when it came out. Such fun
I was around 10 when i started playing this game for the first time. It was wonderful. Feels like there's unimaginable adventure awaits. What is hiding in those black area of the map? What are these button do? What these buildings do?
I t felt like i found a treasure
Even if i mute this vid. I still hear the sound effects. Crazy

I was studying 5th while playing this game , I still have Intel 845g motherboard and installed 2types of Os
1.Windows Me
for playing prince of Persia,nfs2,old bios games
2.Windowsxp for age of empires
Now I teach my kids, how I used to play games in my childhood 🤗 in which I used to play when I was a kid😆...
always watched my older brother playing because he had more of a strategy than my 7 year old self. you really gotta maintain shit to win. The key is getting to the next age very quick and producing soldier units as well as building a defense with watch towers. Upgrading the watch towers making them ballistas is the move.
My childhood. Spent hours and hours on this. I have no idea where I even got this game loo
My first favourite game!! I feel nostalgic😥😥😥😥
What a great game!!! I remember playing this for long hours!
Memories... I remember during the installation those units moving back and forth at the bottom and top of the screen :D It was all quite "new" and impressive to me this days

Hi Steven, do you know a way to play it on a chromebook or mac ? Is it available online
nostalgie i remember playing that when i was 10 years old
Age of Empires, Warcraft 3, Empire Earth, and Stronghold have immensely strong similarities in gameplay style. There are to some extent small differences between them, however core gameplay remains similar meaning if a person enjoy playing one of these sorts of strategy games there's a strong possibility that they'll enjoy all of them. I haven't played every game in every series, i played most of Age of Empires series and Stronghold series but i'm assuming Warcraft and Empire Earth series remained the same or not? In Warcraft 3 and Age of Empires 1 the UI or HUD is big which is annoying because it takes up almost half the damn screen, however in Age of Empires Definitive Edition and Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition you are able to adjust the size of the UI which is brilliantly magnificent. Empire Earth and Stronghold which is first in the series has a small UI which is superb they definitely did it the proper way at it's commencement seeing those games are the first games in the franchise. In Empire Earth while a citizen is busy building a structure you slowly see the structure becoming larger and larger raising upwards until completion which is cool, in Age of empires and Warcraft 3 the foundation is laid the villagers built it, in Stronghold you simply place a building on the map there is no villager which construct buildings, that's why i say there's differences between all the aforementioned games, yet they are akin to each other. The first stronghold doesn't have skirmish mode but it was added in stronghold Crusader it's splendid. I enjoy all of these excellently superlative PC strategy video games.
loved all 4 of those. Played 3 of them to death. Warcraft not so much.
brings back so many memories
My childhood right here baby
Ahhh....Those memories! I still play it online on GameRanger and last time I played aoe1 was now 15 minutes=))
How did you install it can you please tell me cuz I wanna play it again so bad
Esse jogo fez parte da minha infância, pqp que nostalgia.
Being born in the 90s some of my earliest childhood memories were of watching my mom playing this.
These sounds bring good memories. But I didn't remember how old school the music was !
Thank you so much for the nostalgia! 😢😢😁😁
From where shall I download this game for windows
This brings back memories... But sadly other games or apps have stolen video or sound from this amazing creation...
the music will randomly get stuck in my head.. nostalgic
That OST is epic
I got this game from my NutriGrain cereal box in Australia :) oh these were the good old days
found just today about this video its awesome its was my favourite game in 2000 best feeling ever to see agian
these sounds make me nostalgic. This is my childhood favorite and I could not stop trying to win the Death match
A esto amigos se le puede llamar un verdadero juego de imperios nostalgia 😥
I swear, everytime I played this game, I wod get terrified of the dead animal bones cause I was just a little kid that had no idea how to play the game, and I would be scared of the music too lmao
Wich a memories...my first Rts...the best in the history for me...fantastic...
Right before winning death matches, I would always leave one enemy storage pit alive, farm every resource on the map, hunt every animal, then use one catapult to destroy all my buildings and people, so by the end the entire map was empty except my catapult and one enemy storage pit. I have no idea why I had to do it every single time, lol.
I want to buy it again 😍
Interestingly me as a little kid used to think eagles (or other birds) are a source of food too, so I took few archers and we shot the bastard down. The bird exploded… as if it was hit by the ballista…
I was like: _WWWWWWWHHHHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY????????????_
maybe the eagles had cancer?
Same birds were originally ment to be a food source but they realised that its a bit buggy when you shoot it down same with water gates / walls beta tester used to use them to block the enemies port instead of defending there own so it was cut
Crazy. I remember walking into a Radio Shack with my older brother and watching him play this on one of their demo PC's they had set up.
goddd i used to force my uncle to play this all the time so i could watch... those were the days!
I want to play this game now 😩
Needs to use cheats like 'reveal map' and 'no fog' to save time.
Love this game have played hours before!
I used to play this on my dad's round screen computer around the early 2000s and I forgot about it then later when my friend showed my aoe2 I assumed it was the same game I had played. Looking at this video I remember the design for the town center and houses and lumber camp and realize that this was a different game. I don't remember the sounds because everyone in the living room would get annoyed if you had sound on.
I was lucky. Our computer was in the basement.
Pre-expansion even. Nostalgic.
