  • Welcome!
We are a homesteading, homeschooling family of 7. Due to recent events (job loss/career change, health issues, rising food costs, etc.) we are having a hard time making ends meet despite our best efforts at frugality. So we are tapping into our local food banks to help us feed our family. Come along as I show you what we are blessed with, what we add to it via grocery store and garden, and how I use it all to nourish our bodies.
Thanks for watching and God bless!

Tonight I’m making meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans! I’ve got three pounds thawing. Tonight meatloaf. Cooking the other two for the freezer….later this week chili and shepherds pie. Love when I can cook three meals of meat at a time. Time saver and kitchen mess saver and spend a little less in energy in cooking it all. I love meatloaf. Hamburger, onions, salt, pepper, garlic, ritz crackers, egg. Easy.❤️🧡💚💙🩷🦋🦋🦋

I like my mom’s meatloaf because she puts a. Little Coca-Cola in it not much it adds a “sweet” to the meat flavor. And we use pretzel breadcrumbs instead of oats like most people use

Gosh I love a good meatloaf! With mashed potatoes and any 2 or more veggies is one of my favorite meals. Such good comfort food. MANY years ago i was talking with a coworker and we were sharing our love of meatloaf. The next week she brought me a tee shirt that she found that said "meatloaf makes me happy." She had got one for both of us. We laughed but our coworkers looked at us like we had three heads! Thanks for this video, I like it when you do a whole day of meals and once before you did all the lunches for a week, which was fun too.

Meatloaf isn’t a huge thing in Australia like it is the US, so I never had it growing up. I started cooking it for my family a year ago and we all love it. Such a good meal.

Great video! I love simple, home cooked meals. I like that your children get to pick snacks at certain times of the day rather than them snacking freely all day.

I think everyone has a 20 set of routine dinners. Nothing wrong with it. It will be the things ur kids will ask for when they leave and come back for a visit. I ask my mom for her fried pork chops and chicken and dumplings still to this day, and my mom is 74.

Have you ever had a pan crack on you when you put it in the preheated oven? I would be very surprised if that's what happened because for decades and decades we all have been using Pyrex glass pans to put our food in and it's always a cold pan in a preheated oven. Now what one should never do is take out a hot pan and put it directly on a hot burner, that could cause an issue but not putting a hot glass pan in an oven.

@@weepingwillowhomestead just to reassure you and for anybody else reading who is also wondering there is zero risk of your pan breaking when putting it in a hot oven while the pan is still room temperature.

So new subbie here. I’m enjoying your content. But I’m very curious about why though you are so strict on when and how much and what the kids eat? My kids would go thru growing spurts and eat eat eat. And sometimes not much. But I never kept them or have never seen anyone be so regimented about when and what the kids eat. Like one piece of candy? What? I’m promising I’m not meaning to be mean. I can see you take very good care of the kiddos. I’m just wondering.

We focus on eating at meals times because snacking all day isn't great for your body. Your body needs time to digest one meal before going to the next one.
They get 3 meals plus a snack each day and have plenty available at those times to truly fill up on. If I have a kiddo going thru a growth spurt, they usually just eat way more at meals. My 6 year old usually goes back for seconds and often thirds. Lol And when they were younger (like 3 and under) they usually got more than one snack.
As for the candy, yes, one piece a day is plenty. Sugar is really bad for your body. An ocassional treat is all that is really needed. I notice my kids' behavior get WAY worse when they have more sugar and food dyes. And we almost always end up sick after a heavy sugar holiday.
I am so glad you found my channel and welcome all kind questions. 😊
