Zapp really puts out some incredible steels…there’s lc200n, obviously. But I really love their branded “z-wear” version of Cruwear (at least what spyderco does with it). I have a couple mules and a shaman in z-wear and their edge retention is *seriously* competitive with my k390 knives. I know it’s basically the precise same thing chemically but the fact remains. Some of favorite “Cruwear” models are actually z-wear.
T.C. this is an excellent series on blade steel, and thank you and your team for making the video. I love the historical content and the blade steel knowledge in these videos. Can you make these videos a couple of minutes longer? The Spyderco Caribbean was my first LC200N, the Spyderco Atlantic Salt 2 was my second LC200N and both knives have performed flawlessly in salty coastal environments. I hope SMKW adds more LC200N SKUs to their inventory soon to match or exceed the inventory SKUs of one of your major online competitors. Thanks T.C.
B WAX thank you so much we really enjoy bringing this information out there and there’s so many fascinating things we’ve discovered in the process, I agree and maybe you will see some more offerings in this blade steel! I’m definitely all for that
Yes there is, they made the CQI change in April of 2018 from what I can tell, so the date code on the box will be two letters, DR represents April 2018, D=4th letter of the alphabet so 4th month, R=18th letter of the alphabet so 2018, if the date code is newer than that it should be ceramic
I am not a millionaire but I do wild camping and bushcraft. I previously had very good knives but they are not UK LAW friendly so I decided to buy this one: SPYDERCO UK PENKNIFE SALT GREEN FOLDING KNIFE it has an LC200N blade. I am super excited
Mike Love Yes we still do giveaways on Wednesday on facebook. It’s a much easier and more friendly platform for the giveaways because it’s much easier to contact contestants. TH-cam is not as of right now.

Because Spyderco always has the balls to use the good stuff and not only the popular stuff. I have a Spyderco native 5 salt in LC200N and it's excellent.

It also strops up easily compared to steels with similar edge retention.
Thanks a lot for covering my favorite blade steel.
Envisioning my LC200N shaman. I'm also gonna say, the siren is underrated!
Thanks man trying to learn the basics of budget ish blades.
We have several out in this series and will have more coming out soon as well
Love this series thanks for all your hard work
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment! :-)
It's also called Bohler N360. Just a phenomenal steel.

Hi there SMKW. Can you make a video about all types of steel for knives from budget to premium steels and all the pros and cons?
Great Information. I like these videos. Thanks.
Thank you Jimmy, we really like bringing the information to you all!
The Spyderco Caribbean is awesome!!!
Never had anything in this steel, still want one to give it a shot. I didn't know these two steels were the same though.
Nice good to learn something everyday. Thanks 😊!!
Thank you Mike we really appreciate it and love bringing this content!

Is there a way to tell if your Spydiechef has a ceramic detent ball without disassembling?

Florida's official steel 😃
You got that right lol
Indeed. Enjoy my siren down here in orlando lol.
how about the difference between 440A and 440C or 1095 and 1098? thanks for the information on this toppic.
Jeroen Voss that’s a great idea and we do have 1095 coming up we might just do some comparisons there
@@TCB2Country122 Great that would be very nice.
What is the knife you open in the opening sequence, right at the end? It has a warncliff type utility knife shaped blade.
Spyderco SpydieChef

No, it is at 52 seconds on this video.@@SMKWcom
I've always wondered why more knives aren't made in ths steel since it is so good.
Because it’s not “premium” steel. Companies want to sell stuff so it has to be premium: elmax, M390, etc
@@kpfagerberg but it is a "premium " steel
@@alibby22 but it’s not M390 which seems to be the holy grail of steels.
Nice Tc do you still do give away knifes on Wednesday,? Thanks TC.

I have only ever heard of Spyderco using this steel. Why is this???
Because Spyderco always has the balls to use the good stuff and not only the popular stuff.
I have a Spyderco native 5 salt in LC200N and it's excellent.
What kind of hat is that bro?
You can go to our website and search for the Sasquatch hat at www.smkw.com and it will take you straight to it.
What happened to Wednesday Giveaway. ???
