    I loved Season 3. The poster for the season tells us what's going to happen. The image of the fridge door being opened represents Carmy's mind. Carmy is still in the fridge in his head. He's trapped in his idea for what perfection is, where the beauty of imperfection of the other cast members is further explored. It's genius.

      Great take! Seems that getting stuck in the freezer shifted something in Carmy's mind so I'm with you on that one. Have a feeling it will lead to Sydney eventually leaving though.

      I also noticed that Carmy is looking at the restaurant, while Sydney is looking at the door, which I found interesting.

    For me, this season focused on character development. Finding out about what motivates them. I loved this season.

      Yup! They all seem to have pathways set up but I trust them to stick the landing for all of them.

    I immediately picked up on the change between this season and the other and I was taken by surprise, but I loved it. I really like how it seemed more character concentrated and a little less plotty if that makes sense. I think this season provided something necessary for the future seasons to build on. Great video.

      Appreciate you!! I fully agree and they introduce that tonal shift with the first episode imo. Definitely a necessary season for sure. Probably will be looked at differently as time passes.

    Thank you! So many people found it boring, but I thought that is was nice to get some filler that is actually good! Season 1 & 2, plotwise, went by so quickly. The show is going to end with either the restaurant failing or suceeding. There's definently not much more content left without running the show into the ground. So many shows have SO much filler and it's so bad, or they exhaust the plot by s2, because the writers focused on action and swiftness. I compliment the creator and the writers because the character episodes were nothing but filler, yet they were SO GOOD. So many people complain about the oversaturation of content, and how so many directors and writers cannot for the life of them "show, dont tell," but then also don't like this season of nothing but showing! It still had the pure anxiety of s1 & s2, the heart, the sorrow, the anger, the suspense. The only critque I can take serious is that it didn't have an end, technically, but a "to be continued," but even then, cant we argue that all seasons of tv usually end on a "to be continued?" Just without the flash card of "TBC," being displayed? There's always loose ends being stored away for the upcoming season.

      1000% agree with everything! I never thought of the character driven episodes being filler but you're right, they technically ARE filler yet they're the best episodes. Show don't tell is so important in shows/movies and this season showed perfectly. I personally would've cut down a bit on the frequent flashbacks but I think it's a metaphor for Carmy's mind being constantly at unease. The great thing with the bear is that they release a new season every year and don't make you wait too long so that's why I'm not insanely upset at this season feeling "incomplete."

    It’s social media making a small amount of opinions seem like the majority. It’s great it’s just not as concise and focused on the same kind of continuity. I enjoyed the first 2 seasons more but just because breaking bad is a 10/10 doesn’t make el Camino bad it’s just not as perfect, though it’s still so good in its own right. Though s3 is artistic and personal in a new way

      Perfectly said! Love the Breaking Bad - El Camino analogy btw thats so spot on tbh.

    i hated it at first, because i loved it i think- it’s a definite set-up for season 4 and i can appreciate it but i hate cliff hangers.. with that being said tho, i personally thought it was great and im excited to see what’s next.

      @ourtwocents  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the mixed emotions towards this season are normal! I'm with you on the whole cliffhangers thing too - I get you wanna build excitement for the future but I'd like somewhat of a closed chapter with what I'm seeing. Excited for next season as well - Richie's ex wedding, Sydney's future and Carmy becoming like his old chef are all insane teases!

    Another banger Chris, I agree season 1 and 2 are better but on its own it is an enjoyable season. I heard season 4 will be the last! Should be great.

    • @ourtwocents
      @ourtwocents  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      GOAT and yeah I think it should be the last but a part of me wonders if they shoulda just dropped all 18 episodes they apparently shot at once. Woulda been very mid 2000s of them to do that tbh.

    i think season 3 was pretty good. season 2 was just so good that it makes it look worse than it actually is (which it isn’t)

    • @ourtwocents
      @ourtwocents  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is exactly what I thought as well. Anything short of the standard season 2 set was going to be unsatisfying for people.

    Season3 was great.. Until the end. I think the first S03E01 might have been the best episode ever made. Tina's episode was brilliant. Until the last episode. The last episode was ass. The last episode was pretentious, boring pointless blah.

    This video essay might be one of the best that I've gone through. I agree with you. People can be stupid sometimes and that if something moves on without you, it is okay.

      Appreciate you very much!! And yeah I agree, change is never a bad thing but people can never react normally to it. I think anti season 3 folks will look back in a few years and realize they were too harsh.

      @@ourtwocents True! This season was a proper introduction to each character and I think that it set up the next season very well.
      I don’t know if you are going to make a video for The Boys but I hope that you do. Would love to hear your opinion.

    • @ourtwocents
      @ourtwocents  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Didn't have a vid in the works for The Boys but I personally loved season 4! I know a lot of people are saying it's one of the weaker seasons but I thought it was fine. Definitely coulda done better in some aspects but the show knows what it is and it excels at what it's really good at it. Extremely strong finale too and I think season 5 should end up being the best one of the show tbh. Definitely gotta watch Gen V though!

    We arent comparing it to season 2 or season 1 and we ARE judging it for what it is - disappointing, disjointed, unfocused, and borderline inconsequential (on its own, at least, we'll have to wait for the next season to see what mattered, which, in itself, is one of the main issues). Who are you to say people are not criticizing it on its own? We absolutely are, and the Bear simply fell short in season 3, big time.
    Anyway, theres nothing "wrong with us", we simply didnt like someone the things youre praising. Firstly, you say the scene with Joel McHale delivers on three seasons of buildup. I highly disagree. The small amount we see from McHale was all we needed to understand Carmy's anxiety. The confrontation was written with such an on-the-nose approach, and with such a lack of nuance, and played out in such an expected way that it just felt redundant and the writing even felt a bit amateur-ish. In essence, less is more.
    The Tina episode seems to be very liked, but it was a big nothing for me. Her backstory originally implied that she had the "been there, done that" for forever in the kitchen, that she was a know-it-all, and didnt need to learn anything else. She had since grown, and taken her craft way more seriously, which was the character development she needed. This episode seemed to ret-con that which made the entire "woe is me, but Michael saved me" plot feel very shoe-horned and unnatural.
    Secondly, by showing so much of Michael, that episode takes away the mystique surrounding his character. Michael's absence is something we are supposed to feel, thats why, with the exception of the Seven Fishes episode (which was presented as a sort of a one-off), we get to see so little of him. Thats part of the feel necessary to the emotions hanging over the characters that knew him. By showing so much of him, we lose that sense of absence. Furthermore, the trope of "rough around the edges guys" secretly having a heart of gold trope is something we've seen ad nauseam in The Bear, and it just gets beaten to death in that scene, I feel. Once again, less is more.
    Anyway, theres a lot more criticism I feel is valid for this season, but I'll leave it at that.

      Damn who hurt you? It's not that serious Zachary! Lot of word salads just to say you didn't like it my guy, which is fine. Hopefully you'll like the next season!

      @ourtwocents LOL you're the one who said there's something wrong with people who criticized the season and I'm the one taking it too seriously? I just threw it back at you a little and laid out why I think you're wrong, my guy. Happy to discuss your reasoning and have a friendly disagreement any time.

      @ourtwocents  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Idt I said there was something wrong with people - just rather confused at the heavy backlash! But it's all good though, we can have a discussion about season 4 when it comes out as well. Until then bro!

    Why do I !!!!! DON'T hate The Bear Season 3... What, are you "woke" people mad because they didn't force any political agendas, or any racial agendas or sexual orientations.. they just continued the story like normal showrunners and I respect The Hell out of that... and now The Bear sucks!!! Are you kiddind me??? Lol.. then go watch The Acoshyte and enjoy yourself..
