@@tweedcouch Yeah, so full and beautiful. I understand that burstbuckers could cut through a mix. But I'm a humble bedroom guitarist, so I don't need no cut.
It's pretty much subjective I'd say, and the music you'll play well most likely lead you to choose the best one for your needs. I personally like both, also can't find huge differences. Thanks for making this. The burst had more edge to my ears. But maybe not enough of a difference for me to justify upgrading to the custombuckers. Thanks!!
@@tweedcouchthanks for the tip man! I have an SG Vibrola with the 61 burstbuckers and always wondered if the custom buckers that come in the custom shop version would be worth it, but now I see its not really the case. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I thought the Burstbucker bridge sounded best and the custom in the neck sounded best. This is what my ears heard. Thanks for the demo. Great quality of tone in your set up.
Very good comparaison just simple as it need with no too much distortion it's perfect to make his decision. For me i think i will install the burstbucker. Thank you a lot. Very well made video it's perfect👍👏😊
The BB2 and BB3 sound their best with the guitar straight in and no pedals . Especially pushing a cranked Amp . That is why Joe Bonamassa loved the BB2 and 3 before he started buying vintage guitars .
CustomBuckers have relatively the same output values thus I prefer Burstbucker 2/3 . I recently purchased the NEW Epiphone Les Paul loaded with CustomBuckers and immediately returned it . I found a near new Limited Edition Epiphone 1959 Inspired by Gibson Les Paul with Gibson Burstbucker 2/3 pickups in them for $625 from a seller on Reverb . I also prefer Alnico II magnets in my guitars .

Thanks for the comparison. Maybe I have a tin ear but pretty much in every PAF pickup shootout the differences are so subtle that it’s not worth fussing over
I use to swap cabs and speakers. Totally makes a difference. Tubes can be a game changer too. Especially the V1 preamp tube. When going digital I often run my guitars through a Quad Cortex for live stuff and IR’s and amp swapping in there is so easy.

Thanks for sharing that info. I have a set of 490R, 496R, 498T, & 500T... Can't remember the outputs off hand but they are all hotter than these "PAF Style" pickups. They are also uncovered.

Not sure if the HH Strat uses a 3 way or 5 way switch but the CB is only a 2 wire pickup. So you could only get 3 sounds. That said, I’m sure it would probably sound good.
Thank you very much to the author for this video!I'm very very curious, If put the custombucker on the neck, burstbucker 3 on the bridge, I really want to know what the outcome will be😂
Custombuckers have the right amount of warmth and more of the woody harmonic qualities you find in acoustics. Burstbuckers are just trebly, unsophisticated.
Anybody with Custombuckers find that they squeal under high gain situations? I personally love the sound of Custombuckers, but I play punk rock with heavy distortion and am worried about bad feedback (as the “new” Custombuckers are not wax potted). The other option is Bare Knuckle Mules. They don’t sound quite as nice as the Custombuckers to my ears, but they’re lightly potted, so I’m hoping they wouldn’t have any squealing issues. Thanks in advance for the replies.
Volume will make a difference. So will the placement in relation to the amp. That said, these are unpotted which will increase the amount of potential harmonic feedback.
Custombuckers are a little bit clearer but in the same ballparck yes. I owned a lot of Gibson (335/les Paul) with both and this is my conclusion I still love Burstbuckers
I can hear a difference. Some people don't know their tone, Def. BB2,3 have more bite. And good midrange crunch. Custombuckers are clearer. Both are great. I like BB2,3.
I'm personally a fan of the BB 1s and 2s. Have a set of Seth Lovers (unpotted) in another SG-style guitar and wow, they're pretty special too. I'm dying to know what they would sound like in my Standard, but don't want to touch anything on it. FWIW, I have the same BBs in another Les Paul, but uncovered. I don't know if it's the guitar (a Classic) or that they're uncovered, but I prefer the uncovered set a little more.
Burstbuckers for sure
Agreed. Every time I plug it in I am glad I made the change.
Burstbuckers all the way.
Ya. I agree. That set in that guitar is perfect.

This is a perfect example of how tone is subjective. The CB’s sound glorious!

I think that it’s not worth it to change from one or the other if a guitar already has one. If it has neither then you might pick your favorite here.

It depends on what music you play. The Custombucker is an excellent rock'n roll pickup and the Burstbucker 3 is suitable for heavy rock.
I love the BB for that big clean to mean sound. The CB are more for breakup to rock overdrive. At least for me and what I play.
@@tweedcouch Really, a matter of taste. Custombucker is PAF, BB3 is not.
