    This is more than just a lecture. This is a wise man speaking, who has taken a great time and effort to learn and understand history and then piece it together for everyone to understand. I noticed the guy in the bottom left stopped taking notes and just realized he needs to just listen. This is the unfortunate reality of Parenti, as he time and time again reiterates the same message, with more than enough fortifying evidence and facts, but is powerless to make an actual change. A true diamond in the rough, a gem indeed.

      The days of "world reserve" currency are going coming to be a thing of the past soon... a rather abrupt end to the current system seems plausible.... based on what has ben going on over the past few years... China, Russia, Europe are starting to realize in earnest that a new system is needed and they are working on a few possible systems... Chinese digital Yuan is one example... Russia has already developed it's own payments system that they can use in case SWIFT disconnects them...China also has a payment system for the same purpose .... Some parts of the world are ready or very close to being ready... to disconnect from the "world reserve" currency system.... I doubt we will be waiting another 20-30 years for this to happen... A basket of currencies are more likely to replace the dollar, rather than a single reserve currency .... It's a multipolar world now...

      @@robertmoffat5149 I think there is an important distinction to make between Michael Parenti and Chris Hedges, which many on the Leninist "old left" would agree with. Chris Hedges, a formidable ally against imperialism, is a little too "New Left" for many on the "old left". Hedges is in many ways more like Chomsky than Parenti. Although it's clear to see why many progressives would think this debate is splitting hairs or a petty squabble there are considerable differences: www.google.com/amp/s/www.laprogressive.com/the-old-left/
      Personally, I don't think Chris Hedges would have written the book titled " Blackshirts and Reds" or Parenti's "Reflections on the overthrow of communism". It's an important distinction. I don't think Hedges romanticism and idealism, can stomach the violence associated with class struggle. Truthfully, it's all a big mess. The old left has some valuable criticisms to make of the new left, such as the fact they can hardly utter a positive thing about any existing or attempted revolutions, and sound more like the CIA than the left; blaming "failed attempt" at socialism on some inherent moral or psychological flaws in left leadership. The new left may say the old left is dogmatic, communist apologists, anti- democratic anti-ecological etc both have valid points.

    The U.S. is often after the countries that vote "against" them in the U.N. If you ask most people if they think it's OK for other countries to disagree with us once and a while most reasonable people would say "of course they are allowed to disagree". But see, this isn't what our "leaders" think. This is not the mindset of our "leaders" either left or right. See this is where there is a tremendous disconnect. We think reasonably and our leaders don't yet we don't question their directives at all because of this appeal to nationalism makes people forget how to think for themselves, to engage in critical analysis. This is not the philosophy of our geopolitical philosophy, that countries are allowed to disagree with U.S. policy abroad, this is the mandate of corporate interests and here is where it is incredibly apparent. But as George Carlin said, "nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care".

      Amy Bloom I don't like how that pastor in Sweden went to jail for his sermon against homosexuality. They claimed that it was a "hate speech", and that violates new international treaties with the U.N.
      I call that sleight of hands. First of all I am not a Christian, but it is common sense to me that man should not be homosexual. One in five homosexuals in the USA have HIV or AIDS. It is promoting an unhealthy lifestyle and I would hate someones child to catch a disease because he has an identity crisis. My concern is I think that they want to sex traffic us to have sex for these bisexual or gay men. They are using crafty stratagem and they want us to use "romance speech". That is really sexual harassment and stalking. I think they want to sex traffic us to have children so that they can have sex with and so our children can't produce offspring to carry on our family tree. The pastor spent a month in jail. People better wake up. That is another form of the civil liberty movement like you were saying about the reverse fascism. I don't want to have family for a bastard or have a bastard for a gay man that I'm not married to. I don't want them to take illegitimate authority away from the forefathers and family tree and hand it to a circus freak. That is U.N. stalking!

    • @budcat7
      @budcat7 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amy Bloom I have no hatred for individual gay people but I don't agree with homosexuality I don't care for it and I don't want it. I don't think it is "normal" behavior and that is my opinion. But now you have these phony liberals on the left who want to say any criticism of other people who's lifestyle you don't care for somehow is illegal. They are trying to legislate morality and that just isn't possible. Either you got it or you don't, simple as that. They just came out with this movie 50 Shades of Grey which is a celebration of the sickness of our society. You're so freaking damaged by this piece of shit society that's been created that you can't even enjoy normal sex and you want to be hurt physically by someone as well. This is maybe because the sick society shuts off peoples emotions, desensitizes them to other peoples pain so in order for these degenerates to feel anything they need someone to hurt them and to hurt others. Now the government is going to step in and tell you what you should like or not like? Shouldn't it go both ways? If you give people the right to like or love whatever they want they must by standards of logic be free to dislike or hate anything they want as well, otherwise you don't have true freedom of choice. I don't like it, not the people who do it, just like I don't like other behaviors that people engage in. It is their right to like it and my right to dislike it otherwise you can throw the Bill of Rights in the garbage because then it doesn't mean anything anymore.

    • @budcat7
      @budcat7 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Amy Bloom Check out Bill Donahue and the Hidden Meanings Christian Village Church for a most interesting take on Christianity. He'll be the first one to tell you that everyone in the Bible never even existed and that the Bible is simply a spiritual guide for those who wish to meditate and discover the power of their own minds. He knows everything about the Bible he used to be like all the other Christians but for like the last 20, 30 years he has preached that the Bible is just a book of symbolism for how to meditate properly given to whomever wrote the Bible from Buddhist monks that traveled to the Mediterranean area. And Buddha was just a man not a "god" and Bill Donahue says he didn't even really exist either these are all teachings about meditation that have been passed down and hidden in code in the Bible with a bunch of symbolic stories. The "Son" of God is really first and foremost, the Sun there in the sky. Does it give life? It sure does, without it we'd all be dead. That's a pretty simple concept for anyone with half a brain in their head.

      @stephenbatchelder5739 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I disagree. The US, by the way, is consuming all over the world and so are several other large nations, through oligarchs who run fragile supply chains. Forget the food sourcing, landfills, global warming, viral mutations, and scarcity issues the overpopulation causes. There is another reason more to the point of what Parenti was discussing. The empires can’t really exist without exploiting the masses through their satellite puppets and businesses oligarchs. If there was a much smaller population it would make oligarchy less possible since it depends on mass marketing. Hopefully it would also return people to the land, end large supply chains, and result in a more educated and healthy populous. I do believe it could work voluntarily too.
