I found that the international has a bit of an issue hauling trailers because of the shape of its frame but you get it so early in the game that it's invaluable until you unlock the western star. Despite all its quirks it's earned itself a special place in my heart, But that difference in tire size really does change the game 45 versus 47 what a big difference 2 inches makes.....that's what she said.

Looks like someone's got a bit of a preference. I've always used the Fleetstar for smaller deliveries, especially when completing the jobs in Black River. You'll get better at driving the Fleetstar with practice and start to pick up the pace while driving down familiar roads, and that's when you appreciate the fact that the center mass of the truck is a lot higher and that the body of the truck is thinner. It means you can take corners a little more sharp while at higher speeds, it's actually quite fun to rip around with a Fleetstar on tarmac. It's true that there's more chance of the truck tipping over unfortunately.

I like that bridge test you did near the end to see how the centre of gravity compared for both trucks. Interesting how the Fleestar tipped over, because I've had that happen to me too many times to count and I think that might be one of it's most underrated issues. Still a good truck though, and great video by the way
This popped up in my recommendations after I started a Hard Mode playthrough. I'm not using any mods and I'm playing the maps in order so I can't run to Taymyr for the Tayga. People tend to blow off these early trucks, but the Fleetstar has really impressed me with its' capability and the Western Star is just a brute. (Aside from one instance where I was too busy thinking about the next contract and drove past my fuel truck in Island Lake and ran out **facepalm**) Great stuff, mate. Thanks for all your videos!
Also something worth noting: some trucks have a slightly bigger/heavier front bumper. I don't know yet if smaller tyres affect it's height, but it's possible for trucks to get stuck due to the bumper scraping against the ground. This happens most on the mud pit test. Heavy cargo seems to affect it as well.
Thanks man! I just got the Western White Star! Hauled it back with my P16! What a battle that was!! Now I know it’s time to retire my fleetstar for the white western star! 😁

@@TDILMAN100 you can pull semi trailers on the high and low saddles but you cant add a flatbed with a crane and pull non semi trailers with the WWS. It's strong no matter what it pulls. I like the old girl. ... J
I myself am still using the Fleetstar since the start (Fully upgraded now), im now on 3rd section area in Michigan, While the western star looks good, its still somewhat lacking in the performance department compared to the fleetstar due to the upgrades being locked in Alaska, and for me im still doing Michigan first before moving on so fleetstar still number one in my books. This will probably change soon however once i reach alaska
But once you get to Alaska, you'll get an even better truck for free. That's the problem with alot of these early game trucks (such as GMC and Kodiak), by the time you get all their upgrades, you've already got something that's clearly better.
@Ian Goschman Thanks for the spoilers, Thankfully i didnt go and research where everything is yet, makes the game more fun, please consider that next time.
perfect. THIS is exaclty the kind of comparison that I wished for. Next: White western -> Tayga. White Western -> BM17 BM17 -> Tayga as those are free to get trucks and I feel are somwhat natural to get, unless you rush for best in class. also: cat vs P16, P12 vs P16, Cat vs P12 OH and as suggested by several others: Paystar vs Fleetstar, as well as Paystar vs White western
I did things the easy way and rescued every truck available on the maps I could immediately access, and opened all the roads, the Western Star was the champion of all that hard work. I don't think I've even pulled my Fleetstar out of the garage yet.
im running fleetstar atm in alaska and further on because of "hard mode". its kinda fun, since its a really tough truck to use in serious conditions and it wants to tip over all the time so every line you take is important. new trucks just plow trough it all without you having to think of it.
I'm over 30 hours in, and while I thought the fleetstar was a drag at first, being slow and getting stuck easilly, I have found it to be one of the most useful trucks in the game. Once it's fully upgraded, it almost doesn't feel slow, and I have gotten more work done with that truck than any other truck by far. I highly recommend chasing down the upgrades early on, especially the Westline V6
I love and concurrently use both of these trucks, I feel like the "heavy duty" class of trucks is the best all arounders. But you gotta love the looks of the western star!
Right now I am running the Michigan maps and not going crazy buying truck, just using what I find as I go and recently got he the White Western Star. With mild upgrades it is already better as these tests show, especially for hauling the very heavy loads and through mud. The Fleetstar makes for an awesome support truck though keeping it away from the worst spots. Throw a maintenance frame add-on and use it to deliver fuel and parts to specific parts of the map as way-points. I can also run a crane on it as needed or use it as a rescue truck. I expect the White Western will take this role once I find/buy the really big trucks though (or get bored and want to try other things). Having not tried all the trucks it seems these two have the most utility by way of add-ons so they should be useful for some time. Also I think the White Western Star looks a lot better and reminds me of the trucks the local loggers used when I was growing up.
In favour of Fleetstar: it is shorter, so more maneuverable, upgrades are available sooner and it has no problem with connection of the the trailer when crane and cargo is on, in opposite to White Western Star. Great video in my opinion, keep it up!
I'll be honest the white star is an awesome truck to have in game I had one personality with it all being stock besides a highway gear box and pull a trailer through the snow on alaska
I was hoping there would be a way you could test things like high-centering and stability on slopes (roll test). I think your new stability test is great.
Warning it is one of the few early game trucks that can use crane bed and trailer. I used it to complete Michigan almost single handedly. If you haven't invested in the lift kit you should before you sell it.
At begining i uswd a.lot these 2 trucks...i still do. These game for.me.was.always abput midium size trucks anf i.l9ve these olf school looks on them..super
White western star is an mvp. I did all contracts in michigan and alaska with it. Only changed over to Tayga once i went to Russia, WS is still part of my fleet and i still use it in russian when required and it still holds its own.
Author, thank you very much for the wonderful videos. I watched you for a long time, but did not subscribe. Yesterday I got to the WS truck and wondered which truck is better than Fleetstar or WS. So we can say that you read my thoughts and for this you my subscription and like.
i remember those days when we all believed chains were best because they were at the bottom kinda like cat trucks with gb8v 2300c even tho its very low power compared to 2700t its at bottom lol
If you have to choose one, choose both. Both of them are for FREE and they are really great trucks once upgraded. Reliable and dependable, they are also good-looking and sound good too, both being a joy to drive. Selling these two is a crime!
I find the fleetstar with a crane, a bed and a maintenance trailer as well as a scout in the bed to be the best combo to start clearing maps solo. The smaller with of the Fleetstar makes it very nible and capable of running tight forest tracks the are impossible in the western star. But the WS is always the second truck I bring along to do the heavier tasks. The combination of a heavy crane and a ramped flatbed trailer allows it to complete almost all task as well as towing the scout and fleetstar out of extreme situations (I play hardcore with no rescue like in good old spinntires/mudrunner). I hardly ever use other trucks except for transporting drills and the largest semi trailers.
If i had to keep 2 trucks starting out, it would definately be these 2. Despite its shortcomings the Fleetstar is an absolute unit when starting out. I think withthe stability test you should have logs on both. I know the fleetstar can only do small logs, but boy does it sway when loaded up!
The Fleetstar is massively underated. I used it to rescue the Western Star in the first place. I then (after upgrading it) took the Western Star out and managed to get it stuck. The Fleetstar came to it's rescue once again and pulled it free. I think the Tayga 6436 beats them both though.
The problem with these comparison videos is the trucks are better for different things. The fleetstar prefers to off road in most conditions in rwd instead of Awd.
Great tests. Stability test is a good idea. I'd like to see a turn radious test. Like start with a marker left of the vehicle and hard left turn for 180 degrees. Compare them.

The bumpyness is the reason, why i dont use high suspension on the fleet - better danger of getting stuck (you've got a winch) than flipping over
You make this game look so good and satisfying
I always loved those Fleetstar buses I used to take to and from school. I hope I can find one in good shape in the southern US.
There are tons on them right around where i live in the north east, i drove a 1963 fleet star, harvesting potatoes, and a guy just up the road ownes a one he uses for a car hauler still to this day his is sick straight piped with a 6v71 twostroke Detroit diesel it screams
I started with the Fleetstar and I still use it but once I got the Western Star it became my go to truck. Love your comparisons. ... J
@@TDILMAN100 you can pull semi trailers on the high and low saddles but you cant add a flatbed with a crane and pull non semi trailers with the WWS. It's strong no matter what it pulls. I like the old girl. ... J
I myself am still using the Fleetstar since the start (Fully upgraded now), im now on 3rd section area in Michigan, While the western star looks good, its still somewhat lacking in the performance department compared to the fleetstar due to the upgrades being locked in Alaska, and for me im still doing Michigan first before moving on so fleetstar still number one
in my books.
Next: White western -> Tayga.
White Western -> BM17
BM17 -> Tayga
as those are free to get trucks and I feel are somwhat natural to get, unless you rush for best in class.
also: cat vs P16, P12 vs P16, Cat vs P12
OH and as suggested by several others: Paystar vs Fleetstar, as well as Paystar vs White western
I don’t know why but the horn blowing at the end cracks me up every single time 🤣. Nice video.
Especially the slow falling barrels😂
Loved the original MudRunner horn on the WS
Rollover test is the most important test right here 🙌🏼
Right now I am running the Michigan maps and not going crazy buying truck, just using what I find as I go and recently got he the White Western Star.
I really like the butt clanching experimental test. There should be more of those in future
I would like to see azov 64131 vs Tayga 6436 or paystar vs white western star. Btw good video as always:)
I'll be honest the white star is an awesome truck to have in game I had one personality with it all being stock besides a highway gear box and pull a trailer through the snow on alaska
Both have chained tires instead of highway tires when racing on road since its the best alternative
I was hoping there would be a way you could test things like high-centering and stability on slopes (roll test). I think your new stability test is great.
Awesome reviews dude ! Very very usefull and deep test ! Thank you ! Keep it up !
I always seem to catch these videos shortly after they come out
I'm going to sell my fleetstar tonight because of this. Thankyou
Warning it is one of the few early game trucks that can use crane bed and trailer. I used it to complete Michigan almost single handedly. If you haven't invested in the lift kit you should before you sell it.
@@johnnyebertz279 maybe ill buy it back then
At begining i uswd a.lot these 2 trucks...i still do.
Video 3 of asking for scout 800 vs Chevy
Thanks for the vid
Author, thank you very much for the wonderful videos. I watched you for a long time, but did not subscribe. Yesterday I got to the WS truck and wondered which truck is better than Fleetstar or WS. So we can say that you read my thoughts and for this you my subscription and like.
A comparison between the Western star and and the Cat 680 would be interesting, their stats are very similar
I used the Fleetstar to scout all of Alaska. Purchased the fuel tank add-on and never had to worry about anything lol.
Out of the classic old type trucks I like the step 310e. with the best motor upgrade it is so fast, flys through early maps easy.
Considering Fleet star is your 2nd truck in game and your can use it until the very end means it is an amazing truck!
The stability test was a nice idea
Uhh aren’t chained tires for ice and snow?
i remember those days when we all believed chains were best because they were at the bottom kinda like cat trucks with gb8v 2300c even tho its very low power compared to 2700t its at bottom lol
Excellent thanks for these comparisons!!
If you have to choose one, choose both. Both of them are for FREE and they are really great trucks once upgraded. Reliable and dependable, they are also good-looking and sound good too, both being a joy to drive. Selling these two is a crime!
Loving 'em both so far as I complete Michigan missions.
Great video !!!!!! Next video: international paystar vs Royal BM17
Always waiting ur snowrunner videos comparing trucks
My go to trucks currently are the ank and the bm17 both very good trucks
I find the fleetstar with a crane, a bed and a maintenance trailer as well as a scout in the bed to be the best combo to start clearing maps solo. The smaller with of the Fleetstar makes it very nible and capable of running tight forest tracks the are impossible in the western star. But the WS is always the second truck I bring along to do the heavier tasks. The combination of a heavy crane and a ramped flatbed trailer allows it to complete almost all task as well as towing the scout and fleetstar out of extreme situations (I play hardcore with no rescue like in good old spinntires/mudrunner). I hardly ever use other trucks except for transporting drills and the largest semi trailers.
i like how the fleestar looks
No just no
@@bobbierowley9175 maybe he just likes them thick? Doesnt want no anorexic white western star lmao
YESSSSSSSS I REQUEST MORE VIDEOS ON SNOWRUNNER SIR SD1ONE
this videos are weirdly satisfying
The problem with these comparison videos is the trucks are better for different things. The fleetstar prefers to off road in most conditions in rwd instead of Awd.
Great tests. Stability test is a good idea. I'd like to see a turn radious test. Like start with a marker left of the vehicle and hard left turn for 180 degrees. Compare them.
ok...thanks for suggestion...will include that for other trucks
Even lifted the Fleetstar's front bumper is way too low
