Watched this video yesterday and this morning before work striped my shock off, have now cleaned it and regreased ready to replace it after work. Your video and others that show the step by step tutorials in minor maintenance has given me the confidence to undertake these simple but otherwise (dealership) expensive tasks to keep my bike running. I'll be doing this annualy now as it's an easy task. Many thanks and keep them comming.

Thanks for that sqeak sort video. My tt travel has 5300 miles and has started speaking just as yours. In for 6000 miles service in few weeks . Looking to get that sorted plus oil leak on bottom right of sump which dealer thinks is from oil sensor. Had triumph for 25 years and never such basic issues. Built quality good on Guzzi but disappointed if these two issues are really down to poor quality work on production line. Thanks for help . Nick from Dumfries Scotland on 1 year old v85tt Travel.

Hi Cubby, great Video, like your others. Very helpfull, thanks. I think on mine the sealing rings were aasembled the wrong way round. I think the faceted side is supposed to face outwards and the side with the groove inwards.
Hah, snap - literally just done the same job! My bike only had 3K miles though. Same as you, the bottom bushing was just about ok and the top one was nasty. It seems like it should be part of the service schedule - as they're clearly not sealed well enough to deal with road spray and grime.
I know, I thought about letting the service center do it under warranty, but I wanted to see the problem myself. I will have to be more careful at the car wash from now on.

Yeah I don't think they even check for grease. Somebody takes the shock from a tray and assembles it onto the bike. The shock itself most probably comes straight from its manufacturer as 'ready to use'.
My front forks squeak on the v7. Never took forks apart so that would be a new one for me. I think if I actually do it myself I'd look to upgrade them. Think the rear shocks are pretty good on v7 but front suspension is weakest part of the setup.
I don't know, I have a 2021 model now and traded that one in. This new one is still quiet after 12000 miles so I don't think it's an ongoing issue. I believe some just didn't get greased enough and that should be a long term fix. Thanks for watching.
Beware .... WD will help cleaning out any crud , but it will also remove any grease . WD is not designed to be lubricant , you need to use grease . It would be fantastic to have a grease niple fitted so newly forced in grease from a gun could push out all the old grease without any dismantling needed . I wonder if anyone knows if that would be possible ?

It would seem like a logical solution. My luck, I would do that and void the warranty for the entire bike. I believe a lack of grease during the assembly process is the biggest problem and cleaning and applying good grease is hopefully a practical solution for the long term. Only time will tell.
After upgrading countless suspensions on various bikes over the years, and not using enough grease. My bet is on the factory not using any or close to none haha. Gotta love Italians

@@cubbysue thanks, I sat on dealer one and loved it so much. It feels like real man bike but I didnt driven it yet. How about issues? Is anything happening with shaft? I know about pushrods etc but can't find anything about shaft. Bmw for example did a shit shaft which is covered in rust after 2 months..
Only issue I had was down to a lack of a rear hugger.. in Ireland, it gets really wet, and the muck from the road went into the gear selector, and stopped it from working.. have to invest in a Pyramid rear hugger soon, as we're coming into the wet months now. Only other issue I have is because I'm 6', the screen is too low for me, even with the extended screen from Moto Guzzi.. ordering another bigger screen from Givi, here's hoping it works better.
@@hensola I had the same problem, even with the taller screen. I got a cheap screen extender attachment off ebay and it helped a lot but I don't like how it looks.

10K on my 2020 and no squeak. Yet. OTOH, I had one of the bikes with 70cc of gearbox oil instead of 700cc. Thanks for the video.

Seems like the factory was a little stingy with the grease.

If you replace your forks, you must do a how to video on the process. It's state law.
I Had the same issue, I fixed a few months ago with a little grease
Appears to be a common problem on this model. Maybe Moto Guzzi will add a grease fitting to the top of the shock to allow for servicing.

I had the same problem. We shot it with WD and, all gone.

If the ball is that damaged, you can claim a new one under warranty. Maybe is worth to pay the difference for the Ohlins one?

Yeah, if there was any grease when it left the factory, 13,000 miles, riding in the rain and countless car washes eliminated all that was left.
Should've used olive oil. That crap sticks to everything.

I usually average about 50 mpg (4.7L/100). One negative is you will have a lot more felt vibration on this bike compared to your CBR.

After one year and 13,000 miles, I haven't had any issues from the shaft drive. Feels just as good as the day I bought it.
