However, use at least as much power as it takes to maintain best climb speed in level flight. 4. In case of oil leak, you might want to set prop pitch to manual low (like 0%) to reduce engine wear and oil heating. Keep oil radiator open until oil temperature reads "Empty", then you can close the oil radiator because it won't make any difference. 5. In case of water leak, same applies as with oil. You want to keep the temperatures down as long as possible, while maintaining the speed for best endurance. Keep radiators open until water temperature reads "Empty", then you can close them to minimize drag. 6. On air-cooled aircraft you can usually close the cowling flaps entirely when operating at cruise power or lower settings, but obviously if you start getting high engine temps, pop open the cowling flaps a little to keep the engine within operating range of temperatures as long as you can. 7. The mechanics of overheating damage are not entirely clear. To me it feels like you can prolong the engine's life time by running at low RPM and no WEP, but I haven't really tested this hypothesis. But if you need the power, then you need it. Once the engine is at the point you can't maintain level flight at best glide speed, you might as well just put the engine on WEP in the hope of getting the most out of it before it dies completely. 8. In case of fuel emergency, there are two options for maximizing your endurance. If you only have a few minutes' worth of fuel left, the best option is likely to climb at full engine power, at best climb airspeed, for as long as you have fuel left, in order to maximize your glide range. This is usually the safer option when you don't have the opportunity to estimate any other variables in your head. Just slam the throttle open, turn towards closest airfield, and fly best climb speed. The other option is to try to fly at the best climb speed but only use enough power to maintain level flight. This can be useful if you have over 3-5 minutes of fuel left, and you're already at high altitude. On some planes, a reserve of just a few minutes at full power can turn into something like ten or fifteen minutes of flight time at low power settings. A typical recipe for best efficiency is low RPM, with moderately high manifold pressure. 9. In case of fast fuel leak, climb at full war emergency power for as long as you have fuel left. This will allow you to convert the most amount of available chemical energy (fuel) into mechanical energy (which you can use to glide back home). Overheating won't matter if you won't have any fuel in one or two minutes. In case of slow fuel leak, climb at maximum sustained power setting, i.e. most power you can get without overheating. 10. After engine turns off due to overheating, direct damage, or fuel starvation, follow the general items for power off glide: Feather the propeller or set it to 0% manual pitch if it isn't there already, close down radiators, and fly the aircraft at best climb airspeed. Make sure your airbrakes, flaps, and gear are not out. So I joined in on a WT CB "Operation Crossbow". It was a 64 player CB that had Germany with Bf-109s and a few Fw-190s defending a factory from a large bomber force of B-17s with some P-51 escorts. Not every battle or player will have the communication to even make it work. Most battles will just be you climbing alone for 30 mins not seeing a dang thing.
it was fun but the fact the B-17 E/L sections were having a few miscommunications and ending up with no respawns was a tad annoying (I think C sections leader left mid battle and thus they had no communication and that might be why this happened) well anyway D section best section

You mean P51´s actually escorting the bombers???? Ik right? Thats why i love the German Ju88 series and the Ju288. They can fly high and fast enough to dodge enemy fighters on a regular basis and can survive without a escort. the B17 is literally a sitting duck without. Any german fighter will make mince meat out of you. Weirdly enough against russian fighters the B17 did alot better but vs German fighters it was horrible i sold the darn thing quite quickly
When I’m a bomber I get either spawncamped or shot down half way to bombing point because everybody ignores my screams for help, and when I’m a fighter and try to escort allied bombers they usually start trying to get away thinking I’m gonna attack them
it would be nice if long custom battles like this would generate either SL or RP. i understand why maybe not RP, but i feel like SL would be a good reward for doing stuff like this

For you plane nerds out there, when they're talking about the "slipstreaming" to help him glide home and someone mentions that they don't think that works in real life...that's correct. It's called "wake turbulence" and it is nasty.
IRL german pilots who got good and survived attacking "viermots" usualy used head ons from high altitude, very limited firing time but you have more chance of surviving and if manage to hit, you often hit the cockpit!
This is how battles should be in air rb. or a historical RB mode that you spawn at about 7k meters in a formation with other players and you have to attact them. not just fighting the AI but an actual PvP and not a PvE natch.

Yes, people signed up to roles that were available. The roles aim to be semi historical so no gun pods were allowed for this event. Decals were to be kept to as little and as tame as possible.

This was recorded in 2019? It should be pretty clear that since 2014 Gayjin has been going down the bias route setting BR's of german vehicles unrealisticly high and putting far post war tanks versus mid war tanks whilst giving every allied nation biased armor and canons and taking a shit on anything the germans ever made. Be it armor or canon, not just the stats are completely wrong and 100mm of armor is thinner/weaker for the german vehicles then for other countries but also damage of canons is biased bullshit. 3 hits of a 20mm FLAK with HE rounds would rip your plane to shreds, exactly what 50. cals do... that the germans dont have, yet the same caliber and almost the same round do twice the damage on vehicles of other nations then on those of the wehrmacht/german vehicles, again, flaks are the best example for that. So the BF-109s getting absolutely annihilated by the bias birds and numbers getting the win was pretty darn obvious. Yet i cant say i didnt enjoy it.
Do the higher battle rating fighters just have it where u an see the bullets very shot or do they just have tracers on cause I’m new to this game and the fighters I have only have a tracer every three shots or so
