Just got one of these tumblers, I think I need to up my browns, it's a lot harder I think to use one of these up here is Canada , Ontario specifically since we have so many cold months but I'm giving it a go! Side note, your dane looks so much like mine!!
1.5 cubic feet of compost, 4 to 6 months to get, frequent wetting required. $80 for the tumbler. Sounds like a commercial to not get one! You're better off just tossing that on top of the ground and waiting for it to break down naturally by vermiculture. Take it from a guy who added 1,200 cubic yards of mulch to his backyard in the last 3 years. Just get a truck full of wood chips to dump their load into your driveway and you will have enough mulch to last you for a few years. Your backyard will thank you.

The temperature definitely plays a role, you need enough sun to heat it.

Great job
Thanks for all the great information. I've been thinking about composting and learned a lot for you!
It’s a huge expense you can save, and at the same time have more control over what goes into your garden! Thanks for watching.
How often do you add water? I live in the Central Valley of California. Very hot.
The short answer is: when I think of it, or it seems dry. Moisture is also controlled with the vents on the sides.
Araucaria heterophylla (Norfolk Island pine)
