They did that in Chicago. Unfortunately, progressives don’t get the concept of unintended consequences. When progressives decided to go easy on punishing crime to “protect” people of color, they actually allowed crime to run rampant. And since 80% of the victims of this crime are African American, they are fleeing the city. There used to be 1.2 million blacks in Chicago. It’s now down to 700,000 and declining. The Urban Institute estimates that another 500,000 blacks will leave the city in the next 30 years to escape the crime. And they are fleeing to suburbs with much stricter crime prevention measures. Turns out law abiding citizens, no matter what their color, don’t want to live with a lot of crime. Way to go progressives.
They would never win any elections, that's why they're part of "the big tent party " of communists, socialists, M.A.P in the democratic party.
Sincere liberals of the past, which I was myself before abandoning the liberal movement for obvious reasons, already have an alternative: Libertarian. They won't take it because like conservatives they want an authoritarian regime where half of the population is the enemy and must be repressed in other to appease the other part, instead of a system that actually respects everyone represses no one and keeps its nose out of social issues.

The Gaza war was all Hamas they knew exactly what they were doing, the intention was to provoke a reaction from Israel so they could play victim. Biden didn't do that either. I am a conservative, and could get behind having something like universal healthcare except for one fact. The Government is terrible and inefficient at everything they do. It also removes checks and balances as the single provider. Just look at healthcare for veterans or Medicare to see how poorly they work.

I can not imagine it working on any business but a small company like a coffee shop or winery. If it was a successful business model, we would see a whole lot more of it in practice.

The major parties have put up huge barriers to any third party being able to get on ballots, and the media generally actively ignore them when not smearing them. It makes it very hard to run outside the 2 major parties. That's to the point of firing people for covering them as multiple journalists found out during Bernie Sanders's first run.

Here's a question about this whole national minimum wage issue. If Democrats really care about it, why not do a tiered system or age based system so that small businesses can still hire 16 year olds to scoop ice cream or get experience, and companies like Wal-Mart or Amazon have to pay their average worker more money? Why does the local mom and pop coffee shop have to pay someone $20 an hour to do that job? Make the giant chains pay a higher minimum wage, or at least raise it by fifty cents per year for each year over 16 up to age 22. $12, 12.50, 13, 13.50, 14, 14.50 and finally $15. This also rewards older workers IF they reward the higher pay with more reliability and maturity.

Why should someone have to live in effective poverty just so as the business they work for (be it largo corpo, or mom n pop) can pocket a profit?

I thought the same thing. Considering her biggest achievement as first lady was CHIP - medicare for all children, basically, as best one could do at the time. it was a pure progressive move. amazing she feels so differently about fighting the power now. weakness ahould not be rewarded.
She had ideas when she first started she talked about universal health care. It tells you how the system corrupts them it's set up like that that's how they've turned against us.
After she f*cked up a Golden Opportunity to "reform health care" in the early 90s by pandering to the industry, Bill and his handlers made sure she returned to the background for the rest of his terms.
Alas, after the landslide election of 2008, Obama and the filibuster proof majority of Dems in Congress extended the lease by passing the industry written, multi-trillion dollar stimulus for the failed remedial sick care industrial complex driven by corporate profits. Nixon - Heritage - Romney - "care". While Obama's OFA stormtroopers stifled any mention of Medicare for All out in the grass roots and execrable tools like Max Baucus had anyone mentioning Single-Payer arrested.
Hillary never did squat. The profit-obsessed greed that saturates the abysmal medical care in this country has hurt far more than it's helped.
This Healthcare for all citizens issue can't get addressed until we resolve the issue of our border. I would MASSIVELY benefit from a healthcare overhaul, and see the benefits to such, but with millions of undocumented individuals crossing the border that will without a doubt be a drain on our healthcare network I just don't see how this can be feasible. The border shouldn't be partisan. It shouldn't be closed either. It needs to be overhauled so that many more immigrants can LEGALLY immigrate therefore being vetted for economic viability and criminal background.

If you watch the full clip, the history she is talking about is how when Bill Clinton was president they brought forward a proposal for a 2 state solution for Israel and Palestine and it was Palestine that turned it down and walked away. Young people, even if you explain that to them, plug their ears and refuse to acknowledge Palestine's history. And people like Bri will dishonestly cut the clip to avoid having to acknowledge the real world.

@@AFSOC2 I disagree. None of us gets to to decide who people vote for (or not) simply because we don’t like someone’s policies, character or party affiliation. We get to vote and people should have the opportunity to hear from every candidate available vs what’s happening today.
Americans can't vote for what they want. They have to chose from one of two Right-wingers presented to them by the business class. It's no different to China, where they get to vote for a choice of communists presented by the CCP. The only democracy in the US system is ballot initiatives when people routinely vote for Left positions like $15 min wage, and cannabis legalisation.

It took me a while to get a clear answer as well. Left wing is anti capitalist, liberals are pro capitalism, and progressives think that capitalism can be safely controlled. Liberalism is a right wing ideology. Go right of liberalism and you begin to enter the fascist ideologies.
The left is about economics and anti war. If you accept these policies you belong and we want everyone to feel equal and contribute. The liberals are pro corporate and pro war. Controlled by money and have no room for free thinkers. Identity politics is just putting a different face on the same policies of endless war and corporate control. I really think as the years go on we have more in common with libertarians than liberals. As a leftist Thomas Massie is my favorite politician right now. A true American and a man of principle.
Left can be anything left of center. Liberals tend to be moderate want gradual reforms and compromise with people who don't agree. Progressives used to mean left economically like staggered tax structure and heavy investment in education and other public goods. Now progressive seems to mean wokist and or socialist. Basically liberals are what progressives used to be and progressives are now wokeist and socialist. A few are actual communist, but I am pretty sure they are still a small of very vocal minority in the left half of the democrat party. At least I hope they are. It is funny, because everytime Bri opens her mouth I think to myself that people like her drove me out of the Democratic party. Point of reference, I used to call myself progressive before 2020, I am now independent because I actual believe in liberal values and progressive don't anymore. Sucks because I now despise pretty much every political charity I have every given money to because they all seem to have lost the plot, or I am just getting old.

The thing that I have found the most disturbing about our current National Healthcare is the government flexing its muscles to impose mandates for experimental treatments under an emergency act that the patient needs to sign a liability waiver in order to comply with the mandate. Medical slavery? I would much rather maintain autonomy over my body and pay out-of-pocket for every drop of healthcare I receive. We should be able to enjoy healthcare and autonomy, but if we must pick one - autonomy is the way to go! Its mind-boggling how many people have lied to the Public how many ways!
