You’re so blessed to play this game. I enjoy the fun that comes from the vlogs. I love seeing Eric Gagne. One of my memories was seeing him come out of the bullpen. Freaken beast.
Think about it. The "positions" were originally already set up in a way that would cover most of the infield. It didn't take into consideration that 1: the batter could learn to hit the ball to a certain zone, and, 2. that infielders would notice a pattern and adjust their position accordingly. Why wouldn't you position yourself in the best spot possible? Back to the batter. They have figured him out. But now he can hit it anywhere. The infielders are back to not knowing what he's going to do and we have regular baseball again. Just give it time.
I AGREE WITH YOU TREV. NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHEN A BATTER COMES UP AND EVERY PLAYER IS ON THE RIGHT SIDE, THEY STILL TRY TO PULL IT. I WAS ALWAYS ONE TO HIT THEM WHERE THERE NOT. I LIKE SMART BASEBALL NOT EVERYONE GOING UP TO HIT IT OUT !!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello Mr Bauer. If you need another catcher at CTTP I would love to put my application in. I live in Tempe, AZ. Former collegiate catcher. Rawlings 2nd team all american. I do not have a social media following but I would be very interested in learning more about that as well and reach as many people as I can with knowledge about the game
A bit annoyed they are still holding you out right now. You were cleared. MLB shouldn't be trying to punish you anymore at this point. They'd be going after you despite there not being a violation.
As for the shift, I think batters need to be better. If you give me the entire right side of the field, and I consider myself a major league hitter, then I should be able to put a ball over there and get a freebie out of it.
Was watching a spring game yesterday. The talking heads commenting on shift rule changes, ... "look at the defense all stacked, there's no hole anymore for these left handed hitters". Ball gets put into play and the camera angle changes to showing the defense. And then you see the largest hole imaginably possible on the left side of the infield. All I can do is roll my eyes.
You realize that it a lot easier said than done right. You don’t just get to choose we’re you want to hit the ball lmao. There’s more too it than you think especially if you currently play above high school or ever have played beyond high school before.
@@2chainz299 I'm willing to accept that and I and most fans out there could be wrong in saying, "duh, just hit it to the left instead of the right side". The hitter swings and I just goes when it goes, they have no control? My instinct tells me it's more about the all or nothing nature of swinging for the fences that most hitters employ by choice.
Banning the shift will be good depending on: the limits of it. I for one say just keep infielders in the infield you can have 3/4 or more on one side. It’s the line shots where that hit grass and the 3rd basemen is short right and making a play. It effects lefties more so than righties imo. Just using dodgers for an example. Belli and Muncy’s batting average would jump 20 points. They hit to that area hard with a line drive and 3rd basemen is there. Move the 3rd baseman to edge of grass same location, ground balls won’t get through as much still but unless it’s a heck of a jumping snag those line drives would. I’m of the mind too to keep it 2/2 in the infield as well, but that’s just for me I like seeing a SS/2B run up the middle dive and make heck of plays and it’s few and far between now with the shift. In closing I like my first idea better because it does take away the rolled over ground ball hit between first n second. Lastly not part of the whole shift thing but more so in beating it. Freeman is great and driving the ball to left field. Playoff Cody Bellinger as well as. But we all know singles and bunts don’t pay anymore. Chicks along with owners and fans love the long ball. So instead of beating the shift they try to hit over the shift. So IMO a happy medium keep infielders within 2/3 steps of the infield dirt, to account for creeping in and such.
hey TB when you do weighted balls the target you are hitting the wall with is so you can catch the bounce. I doubt that is the same release point that you would have to home plate. you should explore that. i take cash or check.
I hate getting ride of the shift. As a infielder by trade it sucks because we always used to shift when I would play, and it makes fielding easier. Another point if you really can’t hit to one side work on that. I understand not putting all the infielders on one side that makes sense but getting rid of the shift in all will hurt the players hitting and fielding.
hey trevor, im 17 and 5,5 abt 150 and decently strong but i dont throw very hard, i pride myself on control and have been having an increasing amount of success with your curveball (knock on wood), ive started working with your slider but my hands are way to small to get the full grip on it, should i go back to. my old slider grip ot should i study to find a new one, by study i mean ive started talking to my icp teacher abt baseball physics the way you did
Don't ban the shift, alter the bunting on the third strike rule. If at any time during your at-bat there are three or more infielders either side of second, you don't automatically strike out when bunting foul on a two strike count.
Don't like banning the shift. If you can't go the other way then it is what it is. Also Trevor what do you think about the Universal DH and is there any chance your administrative leave will be coming to an end soon. #FreeTrevorBauer.
Allow 3 shifts per game, per team I think it will make using it more strategic and will keep hitters on there toes, could also change the course of the game.
For the shift being banned, I think that for the infield it should be as simple as two players on each side, can still playback a little or in. However, for the outfield, I'm not sure how it can be ruled.
Bunting away from the shift is a great trade for the defense! I takes way from the pitchers having to actually locate a pitch. The shift allows a pitcher to only have to locate to the inside of the zone. A COP-OUT!! Be better at baseball. Relying on a shift is soft. And the shift has “slowed” the development of baseball!! Not the other way around!
I think the only thing that should be banned from the shift is having an infielder in the outfield grass. I’ve seen a lot of line drives that should land get caught by a 2nd baseman 50ish feet behind the dirt
Banning the Shift: STUPID! It simply makes hitters less willing to develop their hitting tools. It's obvious all MLB wants are HR's...the longer the better. HR's are cool...but whatever. Getting more chess pieces on the board is what makes baseball so much fun to watch, and the more that get on, the better it gets! IF they wanted to do anything, makes the shift player stand on the infield and adjust to the hit from there.
Thought the LA times said they didn’t want you as a teammate anymore? They seemed like they’re still homies with you I think you’ll be on the dodgers my man!
For the shift I think the infielders shouldn't get too far away from the dirt into the outfield before the pitch is thrown, maybe have a line for the furthers infielders can go. I don't like seeing 4 outfielders. Let the 4 infielders shift however in the infield and the 3 outfielders wherever in the outfield.
Really don’t like banning the shift means batters can get lazy and not adapt to hitting the other way like Joey Gallo as he is one of the worst players against the shift and doesn’t adapt to the change of the infield or outfield
