That's just so beautiful a description, I can only think you were high while writing that. But seriously, that's the best way I've heard their writing be described.
When I first heard of this band, I hated them. But they've grown on me so much. These guys write the best lyrics I've ever read, and you can pretty much feel the emotion in his voice. It's different, yeah, and it takes a while to get used to... but once you get used to it.. oh man. This is perfection.
Lol, same. My sis showed them to me like maybe 12 or 13 years ago, I was like "eh, guess they're alright. Not really my type of music tho." but then for some reason I kept listening for a while - maybe to figure out why she liked them so much - and they ended up becoming one of my all-time favorites.
La Dispute is better than poetry, better than a painting, better than music. La Dispute gets it, the lyrics make you cry or make you feel strength you didn't know you had.
La dispute isnt about vocals.. jordan created 'la dispute' years ago, it wasnt a band it was poetry reading, he did not sing or even try to sing for the first 2 albums. and they werent music albums it was just poetry look up 'one, two, three, four, and so on till 10' example -la dispute, four, in youtube search. he accidently came across this style while reading a poem live. then added music to it and melody, he is litterly just a poet, thats why his 'music' is so beautiful, theyre peoms made to be spoken aloud, not orginally intended as music, take it as you will, but thats all just fact...
His voice might sound annoying to some...but I find that I feel the pain behind his voice. It sounds like he is crying out. And his screams are FLAWLESS. He isn't just a song writer. This man is a fucking poet. The lyrics are BEYOND amazing. Screw all of those pop bands that people say they can "relate" to their lyrics. THIS is music to relate to.
This is seriously one of the most powerful musical and literary expressions of two lovers caught in an adulterous act. The passion, the failed trust. Wow. It's all I can say.
This is spoken word off the henges. Like with energy. Where he's actually yelling at top of dbhis heart trying to be heard. It's absolutely magnificent. La Dispute forever.
I feel like the voice is an accompaniment to the words, unlike so many other hands. The lyrics are so meaningful, and only a handful of bands I believe are the same. It's kind of amazing when lyrics can mean so much. So many bands now a days aren't like that. Glad I've found another that is still like this :)
Listened to this about 35 times now. (Yeah, it's been about 4 hours of just this song) I'm writing and not paying attention to the lyrics and it's helped me focus.
So true :) At first, I didn't like his vocals either, but I loved the melody and the lyrics, so I listened to the songs anyway and soon I got used to the voice too. In fact- I fell in love with it, because of all these emotions behind it.
Am I the only one who thinks that this song is twisted with "New Storm For Older Lovers and Last Blues For Bloody Knuckles"? I mean, the lyrics of this three songs make perfect sense together
No, that's even confirmed. Just like "Such Small Hands" and "Nobody, not even the Rain" fit together and "Damaged Goods", "Bury your Flame" and "But then again, maybe you were right" do. All of their albums are concept albums, especially the two after this.
Skar3 Kid from what I've found out this entire album is based off is the same story. or every other song or something like that. you should look into it, it's a great story.
I remember seeing an interview where Jordan Dreyer said that Somwhere is not a conceptual album, but the songs you mentioned fit together since those are part of the same story. New Storms For Older Lovers talks about the conversation of the husband and the guy who stole his wife. Las Blues for Bloody Knuckles is about the husband talking to his wife and finally this one where lovers talk about what they did
I love how the lyrics could be mistake as whiny, but when you actually KNOW the band for who and what they are; and have heard everything they have produced- you come to this realization that he's not really even whining. Most of it is stories about his life, and he's stating; not whining. Like a poetic biography about him, masked in poetry and stories.
@WhitePanda18 touche amore, pianos become teeth, are two bands with similar music style. if your talking about lyrical content la dispute is in a league of its own. The lead singer is an incredible poet and im not sure i've ever heard anything quite like it.
I think this song is about being in an overwhelming kind of love. You know the kind where you both literally go crazy over each other? “Lord did we kill a man and woman just to lie here skin to skin” is saying how they have lost themselves to be together. At first it’s lovely but very quickly it becomes almost like drowning. No matter what you do to try and get back to that lovely spot you once had, you’re both so lost in each other that you can no longer love each other. Love becomes pain and everything becomes a reminder of the mistakes that have been made and even though you desperately want things back to how they were, you come to accept that they never will be, and it’s terrifying.
i love his voice. if you were reffering to technical skills musically, listen to he is here he is not afraid, the surgeon and the scientists, only everything below, shall never lose it's power, said the king to the river, and the last lost continent.
La Dispute is like listening to a painting.
That icon is very fitting
That's just so beautiful a description, I can only think you were high while writing that.
But seriously, that's the best way I've heard their writing be described.
hahaha oh my god, i've said the same thing about la dispute for years. can't believe someone thinks the same. that's so cool!
because some people don't understand, or appreciate its beauty.
A very unattractive and abrasive painting
poetry and spoken word are my two favourite things and la dispute manages to be both
Can't forget post hardcore too
Bruh yes they're so lovely c':
Whats up i make music that emulates this band a lot would love for you to take a listen
@@IAmZeKittyCat hey whats up i make music emulating la dispute a lot and would love for you to please take a listen
Cried* word

i get blown away when he starts screaming the vows...
Damn. This band is so good. "What is life without a purpose, a purpose without love?" Damn.
La Dispute is better than poetry, better than a painting, better than music. La Dispute gets it, the lyrics make you cry or make you feel strength you didn't know you had.
you'd probably like hotel booksxx
+Derek I found la dispute through hotel books playlist
"I have washed my hands a thousand times, but still can see the blood."
"get scent of blood" I think
No, can see the blood.
reminds me of macbeth
This hit me hard.
“I have washed my hands a thousand times but still can see the blood." Is the correct lyric
+john bohlander it is music, music is poetry and poetry is music.
Regardless, I think every aspect of this band is perfect for the mood they try to create and their general subject matter. Nothing is out of place.
Sometimes I just replay the part he says "I wasn't happy" over and over.
The wife's section in this section is incredibly emotional. One of my favorite albums since I listened to it.
I absolutely love their lyrical prowess and their rough voice/yelling. Sounds stressed, which is perfect. I've always loved rough vocals.
I know i tore two worlds apart but i cant change the way i felt...
Saw these Guys live Yesterday Fucking awesome!!!
He IS a poet, I agree. God, this band is beautiful
i feel these are the greatest lyrics i have ever read in my entire life. something changed everything.
Love your use of the word flawless. Flawless: without fail. And that's exactly what he does here. Perfection, from every angle, and viewpoint.
best gym music ever. this band makes me fucking cry.
same but i don't recommend crying at the gym
Tom Guerrero The Last Lost Continent always makes me cry. Even now after 5 fucking years. Can't get over that song
crying while doing deadlifts ;)
I feel like the voice is an accompaniment to the words, unlike so many other hands. The lyrics are so meaningful, and only a handful of bands I believe are the same. La Dispute is a band that has managed genius with good music and good lycris connect! Incredible! My favourite song!
Listened to this about 35 times now. (Yeah, it's been about 4 hours of just this song) I'm writing and not paying attention to the lyrics and it's helped me focus.
35 is a great song aswell. Hm. Could listen to that now. Yep, I'll do that.
Oh haha I do that too! Sometimes not knowing the lyrics of a song, but just having it play while you write really helps. Thought I was the only one!
They have some of the most amazing, meaninful lyrics.
I love them
Got goosebumps at "To have and to hold".
I WASN'T HAPPY! I WASN'T HAPPY WHERE I WAS!!!! OH WHAT IS LIFE WITHOUT A PURPOSE?! WHAT IS PURPOSE WITHOUT LOVE??!
damn I LOVE this part!!!!
I come to these songs just to remember you.
I saw them live 1 time...I would give anything to see them another time...Best show ever !
This is a true emo band.
That one emo band im proud of liking
I know im barking up an 8 year old comment about a 25 year old complaint but this still isnt emo, this is post-hardcore.
I love La Dispute. I can't wait to see them in March!
how am i just finding out about this, this is the purest music i've heard in years
to me la disputes a cry for help their poetry is fucking amaising
the lead singer puts so much emotion into each word he sings. like he was telling someone he loves his feelings for them. THAT much emphasis.
Saw them live with Thrice in LA, Awesome!
from 2:42 to the end of the song it always blows me away...so fucking powerfull and awesome
I can respect anything with this much emotion and sincerity.
Got me through highschool 2014
this band is untapped potential if i ever saw it.... they're immense
but their lyrics really kill it for me
still a 5/5
La Dispute - every guitar riff/ solo is beautiful. Musically fits the lyrics. Good stuff :)
can't believe it has been 10 years already
Patrick Damacet duuuude
Do they have one bad song? I don't understand how a band can be so amazing.
the more i listen to them, the more i love them
wow amazing, that heartbroken voice, i searched for something like that a long time oO
Oh,Great Mercy I'm here to beg forgiveness for this mess..
i NEED 2 see them live ASAP
His voice....you hear it...the words...you feel
saw them last night in boston with moving mountains, thrice and o' brother.
THIS is where modern music needs to be going
So true :)
At first, I didn't like his vocals either, but I loved the melody and the lyrics, so I listened to the songs anyway and soon I got used to the voice too. In fact- I fell in love with it, because of all these emotions behind it.
if jordan ever wrote a poetry book, id buy that shit in a heartbeat.
It's all understood, even if you don't understand.
are you high?
+MobCastLyf absolutely not. perhaps everyone?
I respect your opinion. The way I've always looked at this band is like.. Spoken word poetry put to music.
Best lyricist I know.
I've never heard a bad La Dispute song
Am I the only one who thinks that this song is twisted with "New Storm For Older Lovers and Last Blues For Bloody Knuckles"?

All of their songs are intertwined like this. It's simply beautiful.

Lunatic Prodigy i thought it was a baby rattle
Amazing...
so good. i cant believe i missed them when they came to tc. :[[
this song is excellent.

"Should we feel guilty for this sin?
Lord, did we kill a man and woman just to lie here skin to skin?"
THIS. IS. LYRICS.
I really need to make a playlist of this band... and eventually buy their albums.

La Dispute. Im so pumped. oh my god.
@WhitePanda18
touche amore, pianos become teeth, are two bands with similar music style. if your talking about lyrical content la dispute is in a league of its own. The lead singer is an incredible poet and im not sure i've ever heard anything quite like it.

Love it!
I love this band, because you can understand the words, and its screamo :')
Lyrics and guitar and everything is love
Damn, song gave me chills.
La Dispute gives me strength when mine is low.
I think this song is about being in an overwhelming kind of love. The Lyrics, there beautiful
Still here ❤
@MasterBlade4 You took the words right out of my mouth. They're the best. :)
They amaze me.
I WILL NOT BE DROWNED
I love how different these are.
I like his voice :O it sounds--legit, in pain, something... It fits the lyrics I think.
my wedding song
you know... this song is about divorce right..?
This band reminds me of the band Thursday :D
la dispute, touche amore, balance and composure, and daylight. all discovered in the last week. never been happier :D
I listen to this and i ask should I share this? I think he said exactly what my heart felt 🖤 and I ask is it moral?
If only I had a dollar for every time this band hit me harder than I wanted it to. I'd be rich
Amen!
ohh i like this one alott!1!!
@sportsmusic114 Not to mention how beautiful their metaphors can be as well.

i love his voice. if you were reffering to technical skills musically, listen to he is here he is not afraid, the surgeon and the scientists, only everything below, shall never lose it's power, said the king to the river, and the last lost continent.
I wasn't happy I wasn't happy where I was until I discovered La Dispute
