Ur dad speaks brilliantly for a non native speaker 10/10 for learning a new language and mastering it to that point. I wish us Anglo saxoners spoke more languages :P to reciprocate how hard it must be for everyone else to learn English...
"Like father like son". My children and I love all your episodes. This one was especially more enjoyable. Watched it with my son... You should definitely do more with your family. Great food and Family go together.
Condolences to you and your family Matt. When I heard of your dad’s passing I immediately remembered watching this episode of you and your parents bonding over something the three of you love which is food. I always hoped there’d be another episode like this :( stay strong
My absolute favorite Korean dish!!! And oh my, can I just say I love your parents in this episode. They bring so much interesting content with their stories. Please, please, please bring them on for more videos!!!! Btw, I realize I’m super late with my comment. Haha, sorry. But yes, love your parents!
Stumbled across this video, and I can confirm.. BEST bossam!! Randomly went to this restaurant when visiting LA several months ago and it was so visually pretty, thinly sliced, and absolutely delicious! 🤤
this was a great video wow I love it went you can enjoy the company of your parents and have a great meal at the same time btw your mom is very beautiful am fo sure trying out this place soon thank you for the video
Thank you for your vlog! Great looking pork belly! Have not seen Bossam ever in Korean restaurants here in Northern CA. Have to go look for it now after this!
This episode was awesome! That de-boned pork foot is epic! Reminds me of headcheese. His dad is right, gotta spice that heavy to get the pork smell out. Special dish after.
I cant believe how well his parents speak english. Im so accustomed to Korean or asian parents speaking broken english or speaking with an accent. I always seem to find asians parents who speak fluent english or speak without an accent fascinating. Wish my parents spoke english that well maybe there wouldnt have been such a cultural gap between us.
how do your parents speak perfect english? that is remarkable. My parents have been living in the US for 20yrs+ and still can't put together a coherent sentence.
My parents came to the U.S. when they were young. Dad when he was like 14-15 and my mom when she was in her early twenties. Both came from Korean via Brazil, where they grew up, so they could speak Portuguese. It's easier to learn English when you know a Romance language, I think. Korean and English are like different universes apart linguistically (hence, I don't have the easiest time speaking it! Unless I have to).
A lot of people say there is a critical period for learning to speak a language, but recently the emphasis in research has been on experience using the language rather than learning it early. There is still a critical period for learning language aka speaking in general though.
I heard somewhere that adults learn languages faster than children, but if you learn a language when you are young, you have the edge over adults on pronunciation. But I don't remember where I heard that so I can't cite my source.. :( haha
I knew a whole bunch of Korean foreign students when I was in college. So they were all in their late teens or so. So of course their English was not good. But now fast forward 25 years, I'm sure their English has gotten a lot better. And the best thing is, they all have kids of their own and they grow up to be bilingual. And they know the Korean culture. Me, I barely know the Korean language. So if I have kids, unless I marry someone who is fluent in Korean, they won't know the Korean language or culture :( Now that's I've gotten a bit older, that thought kinda makes me sad since I won't be able to pass anything down.
I've had that pork belly dish generally a first course or early in the meal, and usually it's room temp and kind of dry and rubbery. This restaurant looks like they do it a lot better.
Matt, you should bring your parents to other Korean restaurants that you used to go to as a kid in LA. They are utterly delightful!!
Your parents are awesome, and your mom is super adorable. Great video
Ok...we seriously need the Kang family K-Town series. His folks are not only good people, they are fun to listen to, and truly good hosts.
You’re not lying! I would pay to watch them!
Love it! You can see where all of Matt's humor, love of food, passion, and good looks originate from. What a great episode!
His relationship with his parents is heartwarming. Lovely family.
Love this video and the interaction between you and your parents. Great job!
Ur dad speaks brilliantly for a non native speaker 10/10 for learning a new language and mastering it to that point. I wish us Anglo saxoners spoke more languages :P to reciprocate how hard it must be for everyone else to learn English...
Thanks my dad would really appreciate this. He's fluent in Portuguese and Spanish (and Korean) as well. He's very good with languages.
Like papa, like son. Describing the taste of food. Every parts, every elements of it. 👍🏾
Your parents are wonderful and definitely the three of you need to do more videos!!
Your dad is super awesome and fun and eloquent, bring him to all episodes please!
"Like father like son". My children and I love all your episodes. This one was especially more enjoyable. Watched it with my son... You should definitely do more with your family. Great food and Family go together.
His dad's English sounds like he was born in the states. Now it makes sense why the host has such an accent when he speaks Korean.
Matt your dad is awesome!! Love your umma too!! She really appreciate food and she's Super cute!! More features pls!!!!!
Parents were hilarious with great stories. Excellent video.
Condolences to you and your family Matt. When I heard of your dad’s passing I immediately remembered watching this episode of you and your parents bonding over something the three of you love which is food. I always hoped there’d be another episode like this :( stay strong

Your parents made me visit this place and it was exactly as they described it. By far, my fave meal during my LA visit.

Love your parents! They're cool!
OMG I love his parents they so fun

It all depends on when they came to US. There is a critical development period for learning a language.

would be cool to see Matthew's parents again in future videos when he features restarants from his past.
I must try this place the next time I'm in LA.
This is a MUST visit restaurant. Why? Because even the older Korean generation approves of the food!
His parents are lovely.
Matt is an excellent host and his parents are adorable. What does it take for someone to say, "nah, fuck this," and hit 'dislike'?
So Mathew is a second generation Korean-American right...? I love his parents and his "non-asian" relationship with his parents haha
Phillip Park White people are all up with being inscrutable and maintaining face. Asians are relaxed and chill. 😑😑😑😑😑😑
His dad made this episode.
Great video, love your parents! Family is everything! Thanks
your mom is sooo pretty!
They should have their own show.
What do your parents do? Their English is awesome. Are they 2nd generation?
I've had that pork belly dish generally a first course or early in the meal, and usually it's room temp and kind of dry and rubbery. This restaurant looks like they do it a lot better.
