As a Kings fan I haven't been this disgusted in the front office in a long time they make that joke of a trade for PLD, and they somehow get rid of his contract, and they use the extra money to drastically overpay one of the worst defenseman in the league, and sign Jeannot/Foegele it's unbelievable how incompetent Blake, and Bergevin are they ruined an entire rebuild/retool in 2 years
Wow, three idiots in black shirts and your negative nancy attitude, nice. Sounds like from your comment that you should just quit the Kings and go root for any other of the other 31 teams. Maybe the Ducks?! Bye.
Sadly Luc is the real problem since all the destruction by Blake is happening on his watch! Bothe Blake and Luc need to GO and are the worst management in the NHL !!!
Idk why people hate on the Fiala for Faber trade at the time nobody knew Faber was going to be that good, and they had a ton of right D Doughty/Roy/Clarke/Spence, and the Kings badly needed offense, and Fiala has been the Kings best offensive player over the last 2 years
We did know Faber was that good and is why Minnesota asked for him. The bigger issue has been giving away our top picks so easily-- that's the mistake.
@bhbecca people knew Faber was a good prospect, but nobody knew he was going to be that good he was never viewed as a high end/top-tier prospect. I still like that trade for the Kings even knowing how good Faber is now, because of how many good right D the team has/had, and cause without Fiala they'd probably have a bottom 5 offense in the league. I agred about getting rid of top pick too easily, getting rid of Vilardi so easily for PLD ruined the team
If everyone "knew" how good Brock Faber, why did he fall to the late 2nd Round (11th DMan Drafted)??? Kings wanted to sign him and he told them he was going back to school for another year. Kings could not wait on him, they needed to upgrade on offense. Fiala has been great for the Kings. Wild were fortunate that Faber got better in his last year of college. The 1st Round pick as a sweetener in the Fiala'Faber trade was a bit a major overpay in hindsight, but you win some, you lose some. But this deal has worked out for both clubs, with the Wild getting the better of it by virutre of a 1st Round pick and a stud defenseman.
@@AugieLens They knew how good he was after they drafted him. After his stellar season in college. After his big World Juniors showing. It was on display. Had the Kings kept him he'd be there on a cheap contract and money to go get a scorer in free agency. Kings have mismanaged their assets and budget. Durzi was given away and shining running the PP in Arizona.
@@bhbecca Kings fan practically ran Durzi out of town, with quite a few of them offering to drive him to the airport. As far as Faber goes, the Kings could not wait around. They needed offensive help and identified Fiala as the guy they wanted Every deal, every draft pick, every decision on who to keep and who not to keep is a calculated risk. It seems as if something may have happened behind the scenes that we are not privy to that may have scared the Kings away from him from the standpoint of their ability to sign him and lose him for nothing. Just speculation on my part.
Putting contracts aside, these are the type of players needed to have the kids like, Laffy, Clarke, Thomas, Turcotte and Spence play to their abilities. Lots of kids on roster, they will need some sort of protection, expecially since they all penciled in the bottom 6.
I agree to this, but I fear knowing how this usually goes, they are going to play sheltered minutes. They need to put players in a position to succeed and they cannot have Fagemo, Turcotte, and Thomas get low minutes night in and out on the 3rd/4th line. I see Clarke and Spence succeeding as they showed amazing promise and play, but I want our young forwards to truly have a shot and not get shafted by an aging and offensively inept Trevor Lewis.
What I have come to realize about Rob Blake is that he probably sees the criticism by fans and what not, but he really doesn’t care. I think he has decided that he is going to do this thing his way or the highway. He’s going to build this team the way he initially desired, despite all the hate and criticism. He’s not going to adjust like good GMs, he’s just going to stay old school. If he’s going out, he’s going out doing it his way. Very selfish, and very surprising he’s still GM
Kings fan, I get getting rid or Roy because they want to unclog the RHD side because Doughty, Clarke, and Spence are what they want but they should have traded him at the deadline at that point. I get the uncertainty of going into the playoffs and getting rid of a middle pairing piece like Roy, but this was not the way to do it.
Hey, we all know right handed defensemen are a hot commodity around the NHL. So if you have a bunch of good ones you should be able to get some nice assets out of it, right? Well the Kings moved Matt Roy, Sean Durzi and Sean Walker for basically nothing, and on July 1st those guys earned a total of $76.5M between them.
I agree with Jesse here. I think LA got worse. On the other hand, they still have $10 million in cap space and maybe they can sign someone or get an asset from Washington, who desperately needs to dump cap space.
Sad Foegele is all about the money, but he didn't look happy with the Oilers, so something else going on there. Foegele is a great player, great skater. Will only get better.
Unfortunately, most of Kings Defensemen are puck moving but undersized and were exposed year in and year out, especially during playoffs. Also, their 3rd and 4th lines weren't clicking, so Kings signed more grit and "sandpaper" players. Did the Kings regress skillwise? Yes. But I think they got tougher to play against with Jeannot and Foegele getting on board. In addition, they are opening more audition times to their picks: Turcotte, Thomas, Spence, and Kaliyev.
What are they thinking?! Edmundson played in all of 138 of 328 games in the last 4 seasons for $3.8 million hit for a 31-year-old bag of broken glass! $2.75M for Foegele who's averaged 13 goals over the last SIX! seasons? Turcotte??? Career Minor Leaguer taken at #5? Blake has to go, maybe Luke should bring in President Joe Biden as GM next season as it looks like he will be available.
How much of all this nonsense stems from LA drafting Byfield, who is just a top six player heading to D+5 year while Stutzle became a franchise-level first line player who has PPG+ NHL talent in his D+2 year. If we had him, maybe we don't trade Faber for Fiala and maybe we don't dump a whole bunch of good young players from Walker, Durzi, Vilardi and also the disgraceful dumping of Quick while having no cap room to get a 1G. And now we lose Roy for nothing. Just horrible asset management to just to make horrible moves like this while acquiring PLD. We even have an extra cap hit in Provorov in this whole process.
You guys are wrong , kopitarv, kempe , Moore , FIALA , denault , byfield , kings may had to much talent and not enough toughness , they got a better mix of both now , they will make a run , and keumper excelled in la and will do it again . Mark my words
Flakes draft picks, trades and signings are CRAP and he's done nothing to make this team better! They've actually regressed since he's taken over! Ownership must be happy with being mediocre since why else would he keep his job?
Arvidson didnt produce when he was on the ice, talbot let shitty goals through, we had a soft defence that couldnt keep up with EDM power forwards. Hiller has a plan and blake let him do it. This is going to be an entertaining last season for Rob Blake... unless he wins it all?
Thinking getting a 31 year old arvidsson is a win for edmonton is laughable. foegele isnt tiny and isnt injury prone. Arvidsson has only gone downhill since his back surgery. Blake is fine, hes stacked the team with young talent and they will only get better.
There’s still some really good pieces in LA. They’ve drafted decently well. Byfield and Clarke are exciting. They got a goalie now in Kuemper. Foegele is a decent Arvidsson replacement. I think they’re better than they were last year
They haven't drafted well at all. Look at who is on the ice that Blake has drafted-- it's only a handful of players and not a single dominating player. Our goalie situation is inexcusable-- especially with all the picks we've had. So many of our picks have turned out to be third line type players-- it's pathetic.
Couple things for East Coaster who haven't been following the King's, ever. There are tweets dating back to 2020 from m King's media saying Blake was interested in Edmundson the year Bergevin signed him in Montreal. King's targeting players of French heritage: The King's have this guy named Luc, you may have heard of, that the GM Blake reports to. Yes, Bergevin is an advisor, but he's not the one driving these decisions.
It's always 1 step forward, 2 steps back with this Kings management team. They'll make a really good move (or a couple solid small moves) and start to look like they're heading in the right direction and then turn around and shoot themselves in the foot. They JUST got rid of the Dubois disaster and finally had some cap space to worth with and they turn it into Foegele, Jeannot, and Edmundson... Foegele and Jeannot aren't terrible adds (although paying more for Jeannot than the Caps paid for Chychrun isn't a good look) but that Edmundson contract is atrocious - Exactly the 1 thing they couldn't do (overpay for a bad bottom pair LHD) and they found a way to make it happen day 1 of free agency. So frustrating with this team.
The most honest thing you can say about this team is they have too many question marks to be able to predict how they're gonna do, except that it will certainly be better than last season. Edmundson is better than Andreas Englund. He was on several really bad teams, yours was one. Kuemper is better than Talbot. Jeannot is better than the bottom 6 muscle with offensive potential that they haven't had for 5 years. Foegele is not as good as Arvidsson, but he's healthier, so if he puts up 20 it'll be 20 they didn't have.
That's just a straight up rumor. He even stated in an interview post-trade that he was surprised he was traded. Who knows what his demands were with Blake when they met in person though? Still, it was an overpayment by Blake giving up a 1st and Faber when the Wild didn't have the cap space to re-sign Fiala.
