thats is a very nice car, love the anti lad, very very nice sound and flames... best video of a subaru with anti lag that i have seen very entertaining...
I'm making a ALS on my turbo but I'm using air from my dump valve venting back into my cast chromalloy header, this won't melt the exhaust system but will keep boost up between gear shifts. The video is great.
@bradistanis Hey Buddy, this is running an Autronics SMC, any of the top end engine management systems will have anti lag features. Blowing out your cat with some aggressive usage also helps.
its the exhaust system, anti lag exhaust system, its basically a pipe that joins both sides of the turbo and the ignition timing is altered, the hole idea behind this is that there is no turbo lag.
"Stupid toy", ahh It's being used as a kick ass toy. Thanks for your input and sharing your opinion on what I should do with my own stuff. Always great to hear from people I don't know about shit they have no idea on.
@Heath3250.. you'd guess wrong then. Never had an issue with the turbo, manifold, valves.. if I did have an issue 'my guess' would be that it wouldn't be the manifold.
i don't know if it is the case with the vehicle in this vid, but as used in competition it retards timing so that the ignition fires after the exhaust valve is beginning to open, it also keeps throttle butterfly cracked open to allow additional air into the engine. The amount of anti-lag effect (and thus noise/mechanical stress) is dependent on the amount of air allowed into the engine, more air = more combustion in the exhaust manifold = more turbo spoolage
Don't remember asking for uniformed comment, but since you've taken the time. The car had a cat, still use to get some flames with it. But it didn't take long for the lag to turn it into ash and spit it out the back. No additional spark, just the SMC anti lag feature. Maybe if you spent less time getting pedicures and more time reading up on how combustion engines work you'd be able to make more relivant comments? just a thought.. but nice vid.
I've had problems with the extra power I put into it like breaking the gearbox ect. But as for the lag this vid would be the longest I'd leave it on for and that's only maybe once every 6 months. But with those temps, yeah expect some stuff to melt.
80 thousand K's and still humming.. but again thanks for your contribution. FYI anti lag on this car is operated by a switch on the dash so when you only use it a few times a year its really a non event.
@themaxpower78 (this is youtube, nobody "asks" for comments) Alright, so you have anti-lag... so you must be saying that this is the after effect of having anti-lag. This video, like you said above, is you just tapping the throttle. Those flames are unburnt fuel that any catless car(or i suppose with enough fuel a catted one too) will have, anti-lag or not. I don't hear anti-lag in this video, I just hear reving with burble on the way down.
@Tat2b the track.. or down the 1/4?, not sure if this is coming as news to you but wrx's were designed for the dirt? but since you asked it managed 12.9 before the engine was rebuilt and the turbo upgraded.
good way to root your turbo... and your valves as jasaircraft mentioned..... im running the anti lag on my rsk-b4 01 and its mint but after a set of vf23 and vf24 turbos i gave up doin this and just let the people admire it from behind me as i pull away...hehe nice wrx though
I like the ALS,it´s sad that we don´t use it here much on my country.. It´s true that the exaust pipe resists just about 100 miles with the car using als?
lol it means the turbo doesn't lag for example in my wrx the turbo doesn't spool until around 3500 rpms with anti-lag it spools as soon as you push the gas
Hi, yes Anti lag is bad for the turbo and exhaust manifold as your throwing unburnt fuel down there so temps soar!!! BUT!!!.........Bugger me it sounds good, lol. What ECU was the car running? Nice vid!
Have to ask this with Anti-lag depending on Country an State you live in is it illegal to have your car set up like this and emission level's and noise like if a cop saw that would they pull you over with the quickness just asking but vary cool and a real nice WRX STI great video.
Yeah champ it's linked up to a factory dash switch so you can turn it off and on. As I mentioned above this shits really just for a bit of show every now and then.
it was good for eliminating turbo lag for acceleration when driver release the throttle for braking.. but definately its shorten the turbine lifespan and also fuel consumption enemy.....
I was so excited about going to The Varsity when I visited Atlanta and then I ate there. The food is horrible. Dick's hamburger in Seattle is much better IMO
hey i saw an evo 5 on the freeway the other night, wasnt going fast, 80km/h, the whole s/s exhaust under the car was glowing orange and had a 4" blue flame emitting from the exhaust tip, was this antilag in 5th gear or was there something horribly wrong with this beautiful evo 5 lancer?
@Adrenalien406 • great story thanks mate.. but yeah this is as the titel suggests "Anti-Lag" using the stock setup of the engine management an aggressive tune on road fuel. So while your comments are fantastic they have zero relevance.. again thanks for all your rubbish post's though about your friends and things you once saw, been fascinating.
Had it on the car for 5 years with the same turbo... there are so many "etc's" as you put it that a broad statement like 1000 miles is a bit of a joke.
I know it would be bad for the turbo and stock exhaust,well...how bad is it for the turbo?I don't mind about the ex. cause it's a cat less Invidia...Thanks and nice vid btw :D
ALS isn't good for a car, prolonged will cause temps so hot that it will fuck up just about everything in the engine bay. But does that really need to be said, pretty fkn obvious I would of thought considering the meter long flames and all. ALS doesn't have any practical use in a road car but most advanced engine management systems come with it standard. ALS can look pretty fkn impressive when it's on song.. so hope you enjoyed the vid.
@nightwalker00 Turbo's been on the car for 3 years buddy and never missed a beat. Not sure what piece of shit you’re blowing up turbos on but WRX’s are the real deal my friend.
@nightwalker00 I don't even know wtf a 'two-step launch control is" What your watching there champ is an Austronics SMC / with Anti-lag, I think I'd know given it's my car.. but thanks for your truely worthless contribution.
nice, lol just dont try (like my friend did) that with a cat, u might get a new hood scoop, an one more thing, gas is expensive, but darn its worth it XD
feel sorry for the turbo and exhaust valves. Shouldnt be used that way, as a stupid toy. Show it off while doing 120km/h in a turn on a dirt stage with sun against your sight
Na it is aa STi, v5 99 2Dr Aus Spec STi. They made STi's since 95ish from memory but none ever left Japan. I love how on here so far someone's told me it's not anti lag and isn't an STi. Idiots.
"I just hear reving".. you my friend have NFI, go google anti lag so you at lest have half an idea of what this is. Anti Lag systems change injection duty cycles, spark & valve timing. Go post on something you have some idea on and leave the grown-ups alone to talk. By reving it's an extream case of the effects as on the road you would either be reving up out of a staight or down going into one.. but that didn't really need to be said did it given how obvious it is?
The exhaust? it's amazing.. this vid seems to be a bit of a dickhead magnet. The turbo heats up to about 1000deg with that much use and your giving me shit about the exhaust? It's got no cat, no resonators or any headers.. it's just a 3' stainless steal pipe.. what you think I'm going to melt it?
Mr Group N hu, your a genuine Hero!
Tell us all more about how good you are.
I've had the car for 7 years without issue.. but thanks for your input.
thats is a very nice car, love the anti lad, very very nice sound and flames... best video of a subaru with anti lag that i have seen very entertaining...
I'm making a ALS on my turbo but I'm using air from my dump valve venting back into my cast chromalloy header, this won't melt the exhaust system but will keep boost up between gear shifts.
The video is great.
Still is my man, what up Geoff.
Great comments optic, couldn't wait to approve them. Your a real intellectual by the sounds.
@bradistanis Hey Buddy, this is running an Autronics SMC, any of the top end engine management systems will have anti lag features. Blowing out your cat with some aggressive usage also helps.
Thanks Sick Guy, that was some real funny stuff. Your rad to the power of sick!
Aweosme motor mate, sounds amazing!
its the exhaust system, anti lag exhaust system, its basically a pipe that joins both sides of the turbo and the ignition timing is altered, the hole idea behind this is that there is no turbo lag.
Nice, my fav car!
@Thetechseat professionals say that on road use, its good up tp 50-100km after that you are seeing serious damage on valves, piping and turbo
Your turbo's f-u-c-k-e-d mate
sounds savage man.
"Stupid toy", ahh It's being used as a kick ass toy. Thanks for your input and sharing your opinion on what I should do with my own stuff.
Always great to hear from people I don't know about shit they have no idea on.
dont listen to the haters dude. car is sick.
Ha.. it's my car and you're telling me what make it is, that's golden. You couldn't buy a clue my friend.
@Heath3250.. you'd guess wrong then. Never had an issue with the turbo, manifold, valves.. if I did have an issue 'my guess' would be that it wouldn't be the manifold.
anti lag system is fucking sick man! GREAT CAR!

Yes I will be buying anti-lag from day one
1 Bar is 1 bar.. the pressure's measured in the manifold so you can use a thousand little turbos or one big one to make the pounds, no diff.
@TeamAction2 Yeah as in "BAD ASS"
just being thorough, w-e nice scoob
Good shit dude, I can appreciate the time spent making this car what it is, unlike some other haters on youtube :P
You are right about that, greatly reducing the life of the turbo if you keep doing that for long.
I've had problems with the extra power I put into it like breaking the gearbox ect.
But as for the lag this vid would be the longest I'd leave it on for and that's only maybe once every 6 months.
But with those temps, yeah expect some stuff to melt.
lol love to have that at a light or infront of a tailgater
@arctyler Yeah has a switch.
it got flame thrower wit it. ive never seen ALS throw out so much flame.
80 thousand K's and still humming.. but again thanks for your contribution.
FYI anti lag on this car is operated by a switch on the dash so when you only use it a few times a year its really a non event.
Dude this is amazing. How does it affect the running life of the car? Is it harder on the turbo?
@themaxpower78
(this is youtube, nobody "asks" for comments)

ok cool, i am only going on what i've been told, i got a full decat on my MY00 turbo 2000, just need it mapped and hopefully get some flames!
@Tat2b the track.. or down the 1/4?, not sure if this is coming as news to you but wrx's were designed for the dirt? but since you asked it managed 12.9 before the engine was rebuilt and the turbo upgraded.
Came factory, but you can buy them around the place.
good way to root your turbo... and your valves as jasaircraft mentioned.....

It´s true that the exaust pipe resists just about 100 miles with the car using als?
i got the 04 wrx sprot wagon whit the anti lag and i tell u is asome and is better to intimidate ricres
yea thast real smart... nice going kids !
@themaxpower78 ive just heard of several issues with the manifold doing this?
lol it means the turbo doesn't lag for example in my wrx the turbo doesn't spool until around 3500 rpms with anti-lag it spools as soon as you push the gas
Hi,
yes Anti lag is bad for the turbo and exhaust manifold as your throwing unburnt fuel down there so temps soar!!! BUT!!!.........Bugger me it sounds good, lol.

Nice vid!
@Tat2b subarus arnt made for going in a straight line they are made for going sideways through forests
Have to ask this with Anti-lag depending on Country an State you live in is it illegal to have your car set up like this and emission level's and noise like if a cop saw that would they pull you over with the quickness just asking but vary cool and a real nice WRX STI great video.

Badass

does this thing got a on and of switch? i wouldnt want to be behind the car at a red light
Jesus farcking christ, this is now my favorite Suby vid. Then comes the Subaru launch control one.=)
I was so excited about going to The Varsity when I visited Atlanta and then I ate there. The food is horrible. Dick's hamburger in Seattle is much better IMO

what software is this person running? AKA full standalone or just reflashed?
what do they have for lunch? is it redbull?
STI ALL the way...
sounds and looks awsome! how do u go about of gettin it done?
where can i get that wrx sticker for the trunk?
how many times you had to replace the exhaust manifold for this? i'm guessing more than once or either you will very soon
might be a dumb question but what cause it to shoot flames cause i know it has to do with anti lag but what about it makes it do that
I miss my subie
Is that a 2.5 rs? And how much boost does it make?
@Adrenalien406 • great story thanks mate.. but yeah this is as the titel suggests "Anti-Lag" using the stock setup of the engine management an aggressive tune on road fuel. So while your comments are fantastic they have zero relevance.. again thanks for all your rubbish post's though about your friends and things you once saw, been fascinating.
I can tune if your near FL. ;)
A true anti-lag will kill most turbos in 2 minutes though.
Ok I'll bite.. so what is it then Slime?
can you turn antilag on and off or is it on all the time
anti lags ruin your turbos, max life of a turbo with anti lag kit on it = about 1000 miles, depending on how much u use it etc
is anti lag bad for the car??
well u might b able to, but the only thing itd b good for is throwing flames.
Had it on the car for 5 years with the same turbo... there are so many "etc's" as you put it that a broad statement like 1000 miles is a bit of a joke.
I would rather watch this car driving past old ladies at the bus stop
lol lol that's funny.
FIRE breathing STI.
Well now ya have ;) sorry bud, no flame thrower, neons.. or glow-in-the-dark windscreen wipers.
you wont say that when half of your manifold shoots out of your exhaust in a thousand little pieces.
I know it would be bad for the turbo and stock exhaust,well...how bad is it for the turbo?I don't mind about the ex. cause it's a cat less Invidia...Thanks and nice vid btw :D
can anti lag be turned on and off just read a comment down bottom of page wanna kno if its true
He means it wont work on your 1 litre Corsa mate.
ALS isn't good for a car, prolonged will cause temps so hot that it will fuck up just about everything in the engine bay. But does that really need to be said, pretty fkn obvious I would of thought considering the meter long flames and all.

nice, lol just dont try (like my friend did) that with a cat, u might get a new hood scoop, an one more thing, gas is expensive, but darn its worth it XD
Well If you have to ask it's not a good sign champ.
if this guy is gonna show off a lot, he better have deep pockets
feel sorry for the turbo and exhaust valves. Shouldnt be used that way, as a stupid toy. Show it off while doing 120km/h in a turn on a dirt stage with sun against your sight
There's no lag problem on NA cars....
My valves eat that shit for breakfast.
is it yours?
if so, thanks for not ricing it out. lol.
aint no1 have nE iDea hu dat subaru belong 2
there goes 40 dollars
That`s one way of F***ing you`r car up!!

Well.. it isn't good. But then everythings bad if not in moderation.
thats not anti lag
lol people cheering at the "import" version of a burnout.
mum?
now hold up...because modern language has - sick : which is an illness. and - sic: which means awesome at everything.
so am i ill or sweet?
