Awesome video, Clay! I’m also a Birmingham area hiker/backpacker/camper. Let me know if you’d ever want to do a meet up in sipsey, cheaha, or oak mountain!

Enjoyed the video. Sucks about the trekking poles. Loved that canyon area. So pretty!

I’m just glad it was still light! My power went out at home and made it so I could get on the trail earlier. The original plan was to start the trail when it was dark and it would have been a much bigger pain if I had to do that crossing at night.

Thank you! Hoping to have more content coming soon. Less hiking since it’s getting to be summer heat.

Ha! I’m always leaving my trekking poles and having to go back for them. But I’ve never had to cross a river to get them back. 😂 Great video. Love the Sipsey!

Thanks for the compliment! And yeah this is the first time I’ve forgotten them to this degree lol, definitely learned my lesson and hope it will keep me from making the same mistake next time

Did you use anything besides your iphone for footage?

Nothing but iPhone for this video! My gear load out was the first video shot on my new camera

Yeah! I clarified with my dad and he said that it’s the southernmost exposure of hemlock in the US so I think I had my fact a little off haha.

Way to persevere on the double water crossing. If there was off camera 🤬 that’s okay. Lol. You may have saved me and many others from doing the same thing on a future hike.

It wasn’t too bad! I was just happy that the crossings on my trip were at theme of day one and towards the end of day two. Would hate to have done a crossing in the middle of the day!

I always do my best to! Was there something that I left or didn't catch?

I realized you might be referring to the saw and hatchet. I only used those to process wood that was already dead on the ground, just breaking down into smaller pieces. Nothing was chopped or sawed that was standing!
