    Healthy alternative to ice cream: Cut 2 bananas (or however many) into chunks and freeze overnight. Once they're frozen, blend them up with some soy milk/almond milk/whatever milk you want, some sugar, cocoa powder. Voila! Chocolate and banana ice cream! You can use any flavourings with the banana, this is just what I use!

      you can also just freeze banana chunks and blend them without adding anything else and you get really nice banana ice cream

      +Helen Anderson I love and watch all your videos big fan so this is only constructive criticism, but u do know that eggs are absolutely packed with cholesterol making them extremely unhealthy in fact one egg a day can kill u just as fast as smoking and not to mention (it's a hen period) and free range or not thousands of adorable baby chickies have to be brutality slaughtered just because male chicks can't produce eggs obviously because men don't have periods.

    I rarely comment but felt like I had to regarding all the egg stuff. I am vegan and yes, I am grossed out by eggs HOWEVER!! I am so pleased to see Helen promoting healthier meals using vegetarian foods! This will encourage over 500,000 subscribers to eat less meat and that's a great step into the right direction. I started out as a vegetarian and took my time before going vegan and I'm glad I did as I may have never gone completely vegan. I think when vegans get angry at non-vegans it can discourage people who want to make an ethical change because they think all vegans are the same. We're not! :) Helen thank you for promoting healthy eating without using meat!

      I could not agree more!! She's making a really positive step in the right direction. Veganism doesn't happen overnight in most cases. It took me 3 months to go fully vegan after being veggie all my life. Best thing I ever did! We should support!! Xx

      +Demetra Roumana of course, I completely see where you're coming from. I just thought it was awesome that Helen was promoting healthier meals using veg alternatives to such a large amount of people, whether her meals inspires them to cut out meat a few times a week or even completely is up to them. Hope I don't seem rude or anything, I'm really not looking for a fight :)

      That's not what I meant - I just told her even healthier alternative, not recommending vegan lifestyle to her. If she is or isn't vegan doesn't affect my life so I'm just going to let her eat whatever she wants without ranting about it (like many others).

  • @hopewetherall2916

    a healthy alternative to the eggs in the fry up recipe is tofu scramble - you just cut tofu into small pieces (I prefer silken for this), plop it in the pan and mix it around like you would scrambled egg, adding any spices you prefer (turmeric will turn it yellow and pepper is good too). It tastes great mixed with onion, mushroom and tomatoes too :)

    A tip for making the curry, add in the spices prior to adding in a liquid. The spices need to be "toasted" slightly to bring their flavour out properly, it also makes it so there's a less grainy texture in the end result. :)

      CapriceHolford she's not saying that Helen is a bad example, she's just saying that if Helen were to promote veganism it would be amazing for the community and for all the people that watch her channel and are influenced by her. No need to get offended by a simple comment like that because its 2016 and everyone's offended by everything, in her comment she even specifically says that she is already a great example.

    In regards to the vegans commenting, please understand that as a community we are incredibly passionate because we really really care about the world, more than you know. Forgive us, it's a habit. Unless anyone has lived a life without meat, eggs or diary you won't understand.
    But Helen, this is awesome! Love how dedicated you are getting 😝

      +Katherine Sillaman too expensive? Care to explain?

    • @mumblesandwool1243
      @mumblesandwool1243 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +john580 in my area, organic foods are more expensive than ones that are grown with pesticides and other chemicals etc. other "vegan" foods are also more expensive in my area. i have come from a one income household that needs to feed 4 people, so buying organic, cruelty free and vegan products can really add up. some people dont find it expensive, in my case for the amount of money my family is making, it is.

      It's not about being on a "strict vegan diet" the title of the video is misleading. There's so many eggs in these recipes which are not healthy.

    • @benjaminholmes5220

      +Ben Holmes 😂you do your research mate. There full of cholesterol and fat. Not to mention it's an hens menstrual cycle. Would you eat your moms periods? Then why you eating an animals

    • @benholmes2491
      @benholmes2491 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +john580 Cholesterol and fat are not bad for you, you need cholesterol to make many vital hormones like testosterone and its a vital molecule for the body, its in every cell of the body. 85% of the cholesterol we use is made by the liver itself anyway, so to say that dietary cholesterol is bad for you shows how little you know about the subject. Dietary cholesterol does not raise blood cholesterol by any margin, so even if it was bad for you, consuming cholesterol wouldnt be damaging to your health. Im not even going to comment on the hens munstrual cycle remark because it clearly wasnt an intellectual one. Being vegan is a valid life choice if its basis is in ethical reasons but for the purpose of improving ones nutrition it is 100% inferior to an animal based high fat low carb diet.

    Bean/lentil burgers are a great source of protein as well but are healthier than quorn because they don't usually contain eggs. Most supermarkets have their own cheap versions as well :)

    Is there an alternative to banana in the healthy pancakes as I would love to to eat healthy pancakes but I don't eat banana?

    • @krrrzzzzzz
      @krrrzzzzzz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've seen a recipe with almond flour, almond milk baking powder and agave/maple syrup. Almond flower is pretty expensive though. Honestly, whole wheat flower, baking powder, milk alternative and agave/stevia, that's how I make my vegan pancakes and it's just as fine. There is nothing wrong with eating carbs, as long as they are loaded with nutritional benefits (whole wheat).

      You can mix 30g oats with a pot of yoghurt, leave for overnight in the fridge then add an egg and then fry like pancakes. Sticks to the pan a bit so you need a good pan but taste like pancakes x

    • @leoniallen402
      @leoniallen402 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also use fat free yoghurt

    • @krrrzzzzzz
      @krrrzzzzzz 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try applesauce instead of bananas. It works! I'd still leave out the eggs though, there is no need for them

      And they're not healthy, considering the saturated fat and cholesterol. Let's not even think about the male chicks being shredded by the egg industry.

    For your pancakes, you could cut out the oats by using greek yogurt :)

      The oats aren't even neccesary in that recipe, I used to do those exact same pancakes before turning vegan but just with a banana and two eggs. But adding oats in those is actually really smart, adding fiber is always good

    why dont you peel the potatoes? is leaving the skin on healthy? I've never seen that done

    • @mieke109
      @mieke109 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Martina Makek It's actually healthier to leave the skin on as a lot of the nutrients are stored underneath it and if you boil them without the skin water soluble vitamins can get lost. You just have to be careful if there are green parts on the potato as they can be harmful if consumed in large quantities

    • @martinamakek9608
      @martinamakek9608 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Emma Vicktorius but aren't the pesticides from the skin/peel harmful?

    • @mieke109
      @mieke109 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Martina Makek I'm not an expert but as potatos grow underground there shouldn't be too much of an issue with excessive pesticides on the sein. But wash them thoroughly beforehand and buy organic if that's your biggest concern

    I suggest you swtich that low calorie thing with some naturals fats like coconut or something.

    • @krrrzzzzzz
      @krrrzzzzzz 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Coconut oil is also not natural, as you need to extract it from the coconut. Eating avocados or eating nuts or eating a coconut, for example, thats the only way to eat "natural" oil/fat. Fat in its natural form. Coconut oil might be perceived as healthy, but it is just as unnatural as a slice of cheese, because both are processed foods. Did you maybe mean healthy oil?

    • @tobeygun

    Although these recipes sound pretty good, I wouldn't necessarily say that low calorie cooking spray is healthy. I would just use olive oil or sunflower oil instead, they're much more natural.

    • @john580
      @john580 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No oil is any healthier than another, there all 100%calories from fat with no other nutrients
