When you are good at just about any fps game now, sbmm puts you against these types of players almost every game. Its not exclusive to halo, i cant name an fps title right now that doesnt have some form of skill based matchmaking for public matches AND competitive, the only place sbmm actually makes sense.
Some my greatest memories playing this game. Going to my friend's house because he had a 360 and spending the weekends playing Halo and snacking on junk food from the gas station. Or pizza by the slice at the nearby pizza spot

Man. Seeing this now and remembering the simple yet deep mechanics of this game just highlights how bad games have become. Like, you miss a headshot, shields are dropped, switch to BR, trying for the headshot with the non power weapon is the efficient option. Every round you have with the sniper is weighted and counted. Another time, both dudes lose shields, do you go for the kill? Out maneuver and melee? Avoid and shoot? Or do you frag and cover? Such a perfectly balanced game without slews of perks or attachments or gimmicky crap. Just refined, balanced, perfection. Fuckin miss it.

What I miss mostly about this game was the community was like no other. I miss the days of playing Big Team Battle or slayer for hours, then randomly getting an invite from someone that decided to invite me through their "recent players" list. I accept it, and the next thing you know, I'm in a lobby full of 16 strangers, nobody knows each other, but we're all down to chill and play custom games together. You may have just met, but you'd be sharing laughs and conversations for hours, and you'd look at the time and see that it's 4AM.
Halo serious had some of the nicest graphics for games before 2010. The color schemes were great. I love how cold and blue is was. And the transitions between objects on screen was great. All the lighting, reflections and texture. Amazing. The low gravity made running and jumping slower and look so fluid because it was trying to render at Mach Jesus speeds.
I love Halo but really unpopular opinion here but the sniper rifle ruins MP for me, one shit kills from over the map, your lucky to even see where it comes from half the time. Then to top it off, you get people literally fighting their own allies for the gun. Other heavy weapons like rocket or laser at least have limited ammo.
And people like me and that guy who are really good have a bloody hard time finding a challenge. People this good are few and far between and from my experience rarely get put in the same lobby especially against each other. I stopped 0playing Halo online for a bit because I got bored at easily destroying everyone. Most of the real good players seemed to have moved on to other games or something and left the average players and the noobs with Halo.

When I did play the MCC maybe 5 years ago, I wasn't pitted against basically bots who didn't touch power weapons and charge across the map with ARs against rockets. Rat is good, I'll agree, but the vast majority of his videos are of him pub stomping social noobs on alts. Even a mediocre player will look godly against players of such "skill".
Not saying this looks bad by any means,but if you compare this to new shooters in terms of graphics it comes no where near,polygon count,high res textures,complex shaders,lighting etc etc,and this is also remastered version,so I would disagree games in last 6 years changed lot in how good they look.
Graphics are overrated, they just need to be decent for fps games and that was achieved in early 2000 and probably even before. It's the gameplay that's most important. The weapon balance, the map (items placement, maneuverability, special areas etc.), the controls (not having to use too many buttons), the hud (maybe the most important part of any fps game as it makes you aware of the world you are in).

Whether you’re bad at a game or good at a game, we’ve all had those in game moments where there’s like an algorithm you just can’t drop. It’s not even skill half the time. There’s just a good algorithm you pick up DURING said game and sometimes you just land really good shots and your aim is really on point and your sense of spawns points is really accurate and your flowing with the direction of all enemies and can almost predict incoming attacks. I love when that kind of equilibrium occurs in a game

Sometimes I’ll give games an extra leg but now way am I a try hard. But there’s some games I find myself landing almost all my shit, looking directly at spawns after one another kill, reacting to shots very quickly and just flowing with the game naturally and owning the map entirely. But I’m still just a casual gamer, sometimes I just have that muse and that’s what this particular gameplay reminds me of.

When I did play the MCC maybe 5 years ago, I wasn't pitted against basically bots who didn't touch power weapons and charge across the map with ARs against rockets. Rat is good, I'll agree, but the vast majority of his videos are of him pub stomping social noobs on alts. Even a mediocre player will look godly against players of such "skill".
I love the fact that every kill in this video is some insane play and the very last one is just a classic BR 4 shot.

Not saying this looks bad by any means,but if you compare this to new shooters in terms of graphics it comes no where near,polygon count,high res textures,complex shaders,lighting etc etc,and this is also remastered version,so I would disagree games in last 6 years changed lot in how good they look.
Graphics are overrated, they just need to be decent for fps games and that was achieved in early 2000 and probably even before.
It's the gameplay that's most important. The weapon balance, the map (items placement, maneuverability, special areas etc.), the controls (not having to use too many buttons), the hud (maybe the most important part of any fps game as it makes you aware of the world you are in).

Whether you’re bad at a game or good at a game, we’ve all had those in game moments where there’s like an algorithm you just can’t drop. It’s not even skill half the time. There’s just a good algorithm you pick up DURING said game and sometimes you just land really good shots and your aim is really on point and your sense of spawns points is really accurate and your flowing with the direction of all enemies and can almost predict incoming attacks. I love when that kind of equilibrium occurs in a game

Sometimes I’ll give games an extra leg but now way am I a try hard. But there’s some games I find myself landing almost all my shit, looking directly at spawns after one another kill, reacting to shots very quickly and just flowing with the game naturally and owning the map entirely. But I’m still just a casual gamer, sometimes I just have that muse and that’s what this particular gameplay reminds me of.
