Anyone who discovers these ladies seems to instantly fall for them.. no surprises of course. I'm glad you've discovered them bud. With respect to their attire it's funny that you come to them with this track since this is pretty much the most dressed down I've ever seen them.. lol. You come to them just as they've reinvigorated themselves after a hiatus, and swinging with a new bassist (from Miho to Fami - Miho left for her own reasons, nothing derogatory, and Fami comes in with bounce, big smiles and the raw appeal of someone very happy to be playing in Lovebites, as you can tell), but there's a whole world of material for you to check out and yes, they're as good live as recorded. The musicality of these ladies will keep flooring you I can pretty much guarantee it. You're going to love this road man!

I'm meanwhile a veteran devotee of these ladies (discovered them in December, 2018), and I can assure you that there is nothing better in the field of Metal - they are light years in front of the competition. One thing of note, the video you have watched it with the new bassist, Fami, and she is freaking fantastic. The ones I recommended above are all older songs with their original bassist Miho.

I love when someone discovers Lovebites for the first time. I discovered them about a year ago and I'm an old metal head from the 80's into - Maiden, Priest, Metal Church, Testament, Exodus, Metallica, Slayer etc All of them are very talented musicians. This song is off their new album "Judgment Day" that was just recently released. This is the first album with their new bassist Fami. They are dressed down for this video. Normally they are in dresses. My favorite song on their new album is Soldier Stand Solitarily, it totally shreds, if you love speed metal, you will love that one. There are a whole lot of great Lovebites songs to discover after that, especially there live performances. Enjoy.

Exponentially improved playing with each release, great camaraderie with their fans, as good live as in the studio (note perfect, incredible production) unbelievable vocalist and front woman drummer who defies physics. I could go on and on. I’m in Japan, 16 hours after seeing them live. One of only a couple of western people in the crowd. Small venue, new, young, creative and talented, super exuberant bassist. 63 years old. Best band ever. I mean it. Ever. Most reactors who play guitar say one of two things. “That’s it, I may as well quit” or “right, no more reaction’s for today, I’m off to play my guitar” !!
@@garyguitarguy84 I don’t own a pc, I’m watching on an iPad via app. My view is that you should listen to the new stuff while it’s fresh. The older stuff will still be new to you, but by the time you reach the current stuff it’ll have lost its impact. I've seen all the great bands of the 80s; Lovebites is last / only band I want to see live at this point and can only hope they come to the US. They are talented AF and wonderful human beings based on what I gather from social media, articles, and interviews. Their rabbit hole is deep and Japan overall is overflowing with hard rock / metal musical talent, with Lovebites leading the way (just my opinion). The musical talent in this band can't be described by words. The fact they're barely known in the US is criminal, however, they're starting to get some play time on Liquid Metal and other media platforms. A reactor has found the best metal band out there and Lovebites has gained another fan. The only band I would ever recommend to anyone. They are all about making great music for their fans, literally, Asami (vocals) quoted "Judgement Day is an album for our fans to judge for themselves if we're heavy metal or not". One of their live albums is literally titled Heavy Metal Never Dies and within the CD cover it states their intent is to protect heavy metal music. I know, because I have the CD. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids (when you see their usual stage outfits, it'll all make sense). They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. You just watched another song from the same album, which just dropped. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing. In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. I was immersed in Led Zep, Sabbath, Thin Lizzy and many others. Lovebites is in my opinion, today, what is best at all levels in the world of heavy, power, trash, metal ... These 5 young women, that I discovered in 2018 in concert in Paris, are simply virtuosos in their respective art and for me there is among them a stratospheric genius: Myako (the brown guitarist) I do not say more you will discover why during your journey with Lovebites and especially on the track named "swan song + Chopin intro". Asami - Singer a unique voice with a power like rarely heard in metal Haruna - Drums a phenomenon a concert is for her almost 2 hours of drum solo lol Midori - Guitarist (blond) what can I say, just amazing, an extraordinary talent Miyako - Guitarist and not only (brunette) she is not of this world it is certain... a genius as it is born 1 by century Miho - Bassist (co-founder of the group with Haruna) she left them in 2021 and was replaced very recently by Fami, another Japanese bassist, Absolutely extraordinary. You will realize that this duo of guitarists is absolutely gigantic in power, technique, writing and osmosis !!!! they only lack the notoriety outside of Asia to become the best that history has created in the world of metal. We could make a list of different songs on which you should react but it's useless, the whole of their work is a masterpiece with in it some Masterpiece with a very big M. Thanks for the great reaction video! I love seeing how people are surprised, excited, and fascinated when they see Love Bites for the first time. But I don't think this video is a good introduction to Lovebites. They usually wear gorgeous white dresses and play seriously. Also, their songs are usually not as simple as this song, often containing complex transitions and tempo changes. A lot of people recommended a lot of songs, so I won't add any more. But every song is sure to blow you away. I look forward to the next reaction to Love Bites. postscript: Except for the bass player "fami", they are around 30 years old.("fami" is 20 years old) Lead singer “asami” and black-haired guitarist “miyako” are married and have children. So I think they are ladies, not girls.

Great reaction Gary...subscribed! I won't repeat what many others have said, instead I will just offer this: I'm an old white guy who has never been outside of N America, who discovered the Japanese - predominantly female - rock/metal scene in 2020. Since then I have seen Band-Maid and Nemophila live, spent a ridiculous amount of money on CDs, Blu-rays, online streams, fan clubs and merchandise, met a great online community of fans some of whom I now call friends, and listen to 90% Japanese music. This is your final warning...turn back now or your life will never be the same! :)
Judging from the patches on your jacket, I suspect you'll probably enjoy their thrash and traditional NWOBHM-inspired heavy metal the most. That makes up roughly a third or so of their catalogue. If you also enjoy power metal, symphonic metal, and prog metal, you'll enjoy pretty much all of it! There is no filler material with these ladies!
There's a lot of good bands out there and a fair few great bands and then there's Lovebites a once in a generation band who just blow your mind with how such a ridiculously talented group of 5 musicians can be in one band

I wait for each new album like I used to get excited about Megadeth or Metallica dropping an album. Yeah that good. BTW, they normally dress in elegant white dresses on stage to get a contrast between appearance and the intense metal they play, this video is kind of an exception. Also, this song is a bit atypical, having been written as a singalong crowd pleaser. Normally they play songs ranging from very fast power metal (think DragonForce) to thrash metal to classic metal in the Iron Maiden vein, with a few ballads and hard rock tracks thrown in. A mixture of 80s styles, you might say, but modernized and faster. What stands out in all that they play is their really incredible musicianship. When was the last time you heard a one-and-a-half-minute guitar solo duel in a NEW song? They do that regularly. This is the second video off the new album Judgement Day, the first is the title track, which could be your next video by them (in white dresses this time). I Am Always Amazed About Heavy Metal Experts That Still Know Little Or Nothing About Lovebites Or Bandmaid. I Have Been Watching And Promoting These Ladies Shamelessly Since 2017. I Have Seen Every Hard Rock/Metal Band From The Mid Seventies On, Maiden, Priest, Scorpions, Sabbath, Deep Purple, AC/DC And Just About Every One Else. I'm sure there's a chance this has been said already but Miyako, the one playing the brown Dean and using the wah, only started plying guitar at 18-19 y/o, per her Dean Signature Guitar bio. She plays multiple instruments but mainly is a classically trained on piano.

They are among the best. But there are many incredible japanese bands like Galneryus, Unlucky Morpheus, Nemophila, and many more. And if you are a guitar guy, Hal-Ca from Asterism (instrumental) is from another planet.
A once in a generation band, male or female. Lovebites are a band best experienced live. I am sure other people will or have recommended the live versions of Set the World on Fire, Holy War, When Destinies Align, Signs of Deliverance, Winds f Transylvania, We the United, Break the Wall, Scream for Me (14 guitar solos) and to really show thweir versatility Swan Son with the piano intro, Frozen Serenade, Spellbound, Epilogue, Empty Daydream. BTW you should also check out another all female Japanese metal band called Nemophila, you could start with their video 'Rise'. You will not be disappointed.

The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba). I have heard some Lovebites songs before this one but they didn't really grab my attention before, because they typically have more of a power metal sound. Not that I don't like some PM but there are just too many bands out there already. They really stepped it up with this one though. This is a straight up thrash tune. I'm gonna have to go and check out more of their stuff.

Anyone who discovers these ladies seems to instantly fall for them.. no surprises of course. I'm glad you've discovered them bud. With respect to their attire it's funny that you come to them with this track since this is pretty much the most dressed down I've ever seen them.. lol. You come to them just as they've reinvigorated themselves after a hiatus, and swinging with a new bassist (from Miho to Fami - Miho left for her own reasons, nothing derogatory, and Fami comes in with bounce, big smiles and the raw appeal of someone very happy to be playing in Lovebites, as you can tell), but there's a whole world of material for you to check out and yes, they're as good live as recorded. The musicality of these ladies will keep flooring you I can pretty much guarantee it. You're going to love this road man!

One thing of note, the video you have watched it with the new bassist, Fami, and she is freaking fantastic. The ones I recommended above are all older songs with their original bassist Miho.

I love when someone discovers Lovebites for the first time. I discovered them about a year ago and I'm an old metal head from the 80's into - Maiden, Priest, Metal Church, Testament, Exodus, Metallica, Slayer etc All of them are very talented musicians. This song is off their new album "Judgment Day" that was just recently released. This is the first album with their new bassist Fami. They are dressed down for this video. Normally they are in dresses. My favorite song on their new album is Soldier Stand Solitarily, it totally shreds, if you love speed metal, you will love that one. There are a whole lot of great Lovebites songs to discover after that, especially there live performances. Enjoy.

@@garyguitarguy84 he’s not exaggerating. 60 songs, no album filler, tremendous variety, 4 albums, 2 ep’s and single/EP. Exponentially improved playing with each release, great camaraderie with their fans, as good live as in the studio (note perfect, incredible production) unbelievable vocalist and front woman drummer who defies physics. I could go on and on. I’m in Japan, 16 hours after seeing them live. One of only a couple of western people in the crowd. Small venue, new, young, creative and talented, super exuberant bassist. 63 years old. Best band ever. I mean it. Ever. Most reactors who play guitar say one of two things. “That’s it, I may as well quit” or “right, no more reaction’s for today, I’m off to play my guitar” !!

The older stuff will still be new to you, but by the time you reach the current stuff it’ll have lost its impact. It's sad that so many potential Lovebites fans have never heard of probably the most musically talented hard music band on earth. That's why I am pleased whenever a new reactor discovers them and hopefully helps spread the word.

You better go listen to it again, ladies deserve all the recognition they can get. 🙂 They are really something aren't they. My favorite band of all time and I've been listening to metal for 35yrs+. I've seen all the great bands of the 80s; Lovebites is last / only band I want to see live at this point and can only hope they come to the US. They are talented AF and wonderful human beings based on what I gather from social media, articles, and interviews. Their rabbit hole is deep and Japan overall is overflowing with hard rock / metal musical talent, with Lovebites leading the way (just my opinion). The musical talent in this band can't be described by words. The fact they're barely known in the US is criminal, however, they're starting to get some play time on Liquid Metal and other media platforms.

A reactor has found the best metal band out there and Lovebites has gained another fan. The only band I would ever recommend to anyone. They are all about making great music for their fans, literally, Asami (vocals) quoted "Judgement Day is an album for our fans to judge for themselves if we're heavy metal or not". One of their live albums is literally titled Heavy Metal Never Dies and within the CD cover it states their intent is to protect heavy metal music. I know, because I have the CD. Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids (when you see their usual stage outfits, it'll all make sense). They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. You just watched another song from the same album, which just dropped. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.

The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Asami - Singer a unique voice with a power like rarely heard in metal

Midori - Guitarist (blond) what can I say, just amazing, an extraordinary talent
Miyako - Guitarist and not only (brunette) she is not of this world it is certain... a genius as it is born 1 by century
Miho - Bassist (co-founder of the group with Haruna) she left them in 2021 and was replaced very recently by Fami, another Japanese bassist, Absolutely extraordinary.
You will realize that this duo of guitarists is absolutely gigantic in power, technique, writing and osmosis !!!! they only lack the notoriety outside of Asia to become the best that history has created in the world of metal.
We could make a list of different songs on which you should react but it's useless, the whole of their work is a masterpiece with in it some Masterpiece with a very big M. So whatever the song or songs you choose let yourself be carried and enjoy

I love seeing how people are surprised, excited, and fascinated when they see Love Bites for the first time.
But I don't think this video is a good introduction to Lovebites.
They usually wear gorgeous white dresses and play seriously.
Also, their songs are usually not as simple as this song, often containing complex transitions and tempo changes.
A lot of people recommended a lot of songs, so I won't add any more.
But every song is sure to blow you away.

I won't repeat what many others have said, instead I will just offer this: I'm an old white guy who has never been outside of N America, who discovered the Japanese - predominantly female - rock/metal scene in 2020. Since then I have seen Band-Maid and Nemophila live, spent a ridiculous amount of money on CDs, Blu-rays, online streams, fan clubs and merchandise, met a great online community of fans some of whom I now call friends, and listen to 90% Japanese music. This is your final warning...turn back now or your life will never be the same! :)

Judging from the patches on your jacket, I suspect you'll probably enjoy their thrash and traditional NWOBHM-inspired heavy metal the most. That makes up roughly a third or so of their catalogue. If you also enjoy power metal, symphonic metal, and prog metal, you'll enjoy pretty much all of it! There is no filler material with these ladies!

BTW, they normally dress in elegant white dresses on stage to get a contrast between appearance and the intense metal they play, this video is kind of an exception. Also, this song is a bit atypical, having been written as a singalong crowd pleaser. Normally they play songs ranging from very fast power metal (think DragonForce) to thrash metal to classic metal in the Iron Maiden vein, with a few ballads and hard rock tracks thrown in. A mixture of 80s styles, you might say, but modernized and faster. What stands out in all that they play is their really incredible musicianship. When was the last time you heard a one-and-a-half-minute guitar solo duel in a NEW song? They do that regularly.
This is the second video off the new album Judgement Day, the first is the title track, which could be your next video by them (in white dresses this time). The style is very different from this song.

I'm sure there's a chance this has been said already but Miyako, the one playing the brown Dean and using the wah, only started plying guitar at 18-19 y/o, per her Dean Signature Guitar bio. She plays multiple instruments but mainly is a classically trained on piano.

I am sure other people will or have recommended the live versions of Set the World on Fire, Holy War, When Destinies Align, Signs of Deliverance, Winds f Transylvania, We the United, Break the Wall, Scream for Me (14 guitar solos) and to really show thweir versatility Swan Son with the piano intro, Frozen Serenade, Spellbound, Epilogue, Empty Daydream. BTW you should also check out another all female Japanese metal band called Nemophila, you could start with their video 'Rise'. You will not be disappointed.

On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER.
On 17 August 2021, LOVEBITES took an extended break after the departure of their leader, bassist Miho.
The remaining girls organised an audition for a new bassist from around the world and recruited a new bassist called Fami(Ba).
Fami is a five-string bassist who can dance, sing and play and has 674,000 TH-cam subscribers.

@Gitterich: Please, what is your source for Haruna's family name? On Metal Archives, she's listed as Haruna Yosai.
@@oliphant2848 I read that in 2020 in old tweets from Japanese Destrose fans. There they said that Haruna's maiden name was Yosai. Then when she got married in 2014, her last name was Ishikawa. As long as it is not officially corrected, that is the latest state of affairs.

Interesting as you consider them young and yet four of the five are over 30 at the time. The youngest is the bass player who got hired when she was 20 a year ago.

Lovebites are a great band in the studio - BUT they're a SUPERB band live . This song is from their recently released new album ( they had a 2 year hiatus during which time they got a new bassist and 2 of them had babies ) .
Just to blow your mind even more the two guitarists didn't start playing guitar until they were - Midori 20 years old and Miyako ( in the black leather jacket ) 18 years old and she is self taught ( she's also a trained classical pianist ) .
