Great Reaction, Gary! Me yah ko She composed this song, Asami wrote the Lyics - Miyako writes about half of their songs. Valhalla is Norse Heaven, where soldiers who die in combat go to party and celebrate their lives. The keyboards during the Chorus are a backing track - done by Miyako. Miyako started classical piano at age 3, bought a guitar @18, taught herself out of a book, and joined a Metalcore band. Miho (bass and Lovebites founder along with Haruna) knew Miyako and Midori from playing gigs at the same places with their old band, Light bringer. She invited them to join, then they got together to audition Asami, who had never sung metal before in her life. That is the start of Lovebites History. Fami started in Oct of 2022 after Miho left the band. 🤘🐺🤘

Thanks for the reaction! "Etude Op.10, No.12" ( or "Revolutionary Etude") by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland. When I commented on your Metallica If Darkness had a son reaction video 3 weeks ago, that you had to check out Lovebites. Was I lying about having to see them? 🙂 People can say what they want about women in metal; heavy metal is in good hands with Lovebites as far as I'm concerned. This song is a clinic for showing how a MASTERPIECE is done. Best intro / outro I've ever seen for a heavy metal song. Mi-yah-ko...NO ONE like her in all of music (imho). She and the band are lightning in a bottle. Haruna, the 4' 9" little BIG engine. They are all insanely talented. Well done Gary, thank you for this reaction! Keep it going! 🤘

It’s such a beautiful song, full of artistic talent & music. I never thought that piano had anything to do with heavy metal.. until I heard Lovebites! 🎶🔥
Even before I started watching your reaction, I was convinced that you would love this performance, especially Miyako's handling of the piano, which is amazing. How gently she handles the keyboard, and how easily he moves directly to the guitar. They are all so special that I don't get tired of watching them ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I also have to give full marks to the sound technicians because this whole concert is a great example of how to work behind the mixing desk 👍👍👍
Pronunciations: AH-sami HA-runa MI-dor-i MIH-ah-ko FAH-mi Most Japanese names accented on the first syllable. "a" is sounded "ah". Valhalla is the Norse (Viking) "heaven", where warriors went after they were killed in battle. There they would wait until the final war at the end of time, when they would fight a final battle against evil.
The Chopin piece performed by Miyako (guitar/keyboard) as the intro is "Etude OP10, No12", known as "Revolution Etude" In 1831, an uprising of some officers and civilians against the Polish government under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, dubbed the "November Revolution", failed due to the direct intervention of Russian forces. Chopin is informed of this news during his travels. he lost his place to return to When the Russian army invaded Warsaw, Chopin's agents released "Etude OP10, No.12" in Paris. People called it a "revolutionary etude" because of the agent's exaggerated promotion of the song. Miyako composed "SwanSong" with reference to this "revolutionary etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony". Former ballerina Asami (vocals) wrote a poem inspired by Norse mythology and "Swan Lake" based on the historical background of "Revolutionary Etude". "SwanSong" is a requiem dedicated to the warriors who fought to reclaim fatherland, a masterpiece that only LOVEBITES can complete.
That's the reason why Miyako nicknamed in the band as "The Golden Touch" Thank you for keep supporting LOVEBITES by doing reaction of their stuffs More love for you, Sir!
It's not hard to "stick around" to the end of your reaction when you're clearly enjoying LOVEBITES. Who would have thought that a mix that included classical piano and a bit of ballet (watch Asami) by women under 5ft 3in in white dresses and high heels would make such a kick ass metal song. - Priceless.
Fantastic reaction. Miyako is a neo-classical god.... Midori is a new-metal and hard rock god... and it amazes me that they two play together as well as they do.... despite Miyako's seemingly calm exterior, she is clearly an extremely strong personality underneath it all, and Midori is super showy on the outside as well as internally. Amazing to have both of them in the same group.
btw, when you start listening with good headphones your LOVEBITES experience will enter an even more intricate & enthusiastic phase... almost like hearing 'for the first time' all over again. I particularly notice more clearly Midori's hyper-tremolo-picked, palm-muted, arpeggiated 'rhythm' parts, often 'beyond' what many would call a 'lead' or 'solo'. Also, Haruna's cymbal work, usually heard as seen in an audience-view-of-stage spread, discovering how much she is 'supporting' the rhythm guitars, the vocal melody and her 'legendary' transitions using her many differently 'pitched' splash, crash, china & bell cymbals. She is 'melodic' !! The 'stereo mix' of all the LIVE recordings is as-good-as-it-gets, imo. Reminiscent of Cream, Wheel Of Fire LIVE with guitars 'panned' & drums spread across the stereo spectrum, just like sitting in the front row at a show (like I got to do seeing Cream in 1968!) How Asami projects her melodies over the top of the METAL ONSLAUGHT is part of what gives their "metal" such broad appeal, imo. 🐺
LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics: If this was the last day you could live on this earth Would you still go on, accusing someone for today It’s better to fail than not do anything at all It is not the length, but depth of life that counts Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life Sometimes the life of one can save so many more Oh brave soldier Oh gallant warrior Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla Believe what’s in your soul For death will come to all You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: miyako / both Floating lotus You are so graceful Saintly and glorious Till the end of time Floating lotus You are so beautiful Sing me your sweet song The legend of the swan SOLO: midori SOLO piano: Miyako ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami) album: Electric Pentagram 01/29/2020
Your comments have been assessed by an independent fact checker. Me. Miho was the bassist, not Fami 🙂 Miyako wrote the piece, not Fami (or Miho) 🙂 Valhalla is the resting place of Norse Warriors, not a battle, which is what Asami is alluding to. Yes, she did write the lyrics. Whilst the spotlight definitely shines on Miyako for what is a work of art, Haruna’s constant double pedal and fantastic mixture of fills puts her right alongside her. Poor Midori. Hers is a fantastic solo yet we hardly get to see her playing it. On the Heavy Metal Never Dies recording we see a little more, but still not enough to do her justice. Great reaction Gary. The penny is slowly dropping as to why the Wolfpack exists and is so vocal. Nobody else playing today does so to this standard this consistently. 60 songs, 60 bangers, always performed to this level… and now to an even higher standard.
According to Scandinavian mythology, in the heavenly Hall of the Warriors who fell heroically in battle (Valhalla), in the city of Asgard (City of the Gods), there were 800 of the most daring Vikings. Only the bravest Vikings who lived a life full of battles and heroic deeds and died heroically with weapons in their hands in a glorious battle could get into Valhalla. Everyone worthy of the honor to get into Valhalla was gladly met by the Supreme God Odin and greeted . Every day, as soon as dawn broke, all the Vikings put on armor, took swords and began to fight with each other. They fought with joy to prove to God Odin and other Vikings that they are brave and courageous warriors who are not afraid of death. This continued until no one was left alive in Valhalla. After another death, all the Vikings resurrected and feasted with God Odin. And so it goes on every day of their stay in Valhalla: 800 Vikings killed each other in duels, then resurrected, feasted and again fought many times to the death. Until Ragnarok comes (The End of the World and the Death of the Gods). It's very short.
That's right up there with one of the greatest things I have ever heard or seen in my life. Truly one of the greatest performances. It's up there with a handful of things that should go down in history. The talent on stage is just too much to believe sometimes, and the beauty of the harmonies, Asami's singing and her voice, combined with the power coming from Haruna and Miho is just unreal. My current favorite band, and I think the best metal band in the world. And yeah, they're all amazing, but Miyako's talent is otherworldly. So amazing. It's pretty hard to comment on any Lovebites reaction because I always say the same thing! Lol. Check out Frozen Serenade if you'd like another one like this, or, one of the "E" songs: Endless Daydream, Edge of the World or Epilogue.
For "Swan Song", Miyako combined elements of Chopin's "Revolutionary Etude" and Dvorak's "New World Symphony" Lyrics: Asami Music: Miyako Arrangement; Miyako/Lovebites
Hey Gary.. Great reaction to another Lovebites master piece.. You should listen with headphones. Miyako on the right and Midori on the left.. You can hear exactly what they are playing and when they are playing together.. You get so much more with a good head set.. Plenty more to go, looking forward to your next one.. Best wishes from France..
Nice to hear you comment on the little big engine 👍 Haruna is on another level of drumming, stamina speed, and never misses a beat 💓 her presence only 4ft 9" but plays like a giant.
There are quite a few more songs where she play piano in the beginning (Edge of the World, Empty Daydream), in the middle (Frozen Serenade, Rising) and then there is "Spellbound" where she doesn't touch a guitar at all and plays only keyboards and even a Keytar 😃😃🤘🏼🤘🏼
Of all of Miyako's musical compositions for Lovebites (over 20) this is still my favorite and probably my favorite Lovebites song in general. In my opinion, Miyako has composed three clear masterpieces - Swan Song, the closing track of the Electric Pentagram album, Dystopia Symphony from the Glory, Glory To The World EP and Soldier Stands Solitarily , the closing track of the new Judgement Day album. She is simply an amazing all around artist.
The piano playing in "Swan Song" is Miyako's pre-recorded backing track. The backing track plays during the choruses in "Swan Song" (at concerts) when Miyako's hands are busy with the guitar. Miyako can't play piano and guitar at the same time. 🤗Although .......🤔 during the performance of ""Burden of Time" (Live concerts: DVD "Battle in the East", 2018 and DVD "Awake Again - Live from Abyss", 2020) Miyako plays keyboards solo with her right hand , and with his left hand takes the chords on the guitar. And does it at the same time.😲 ❗VALHALLA ❗According to Scandinavian mythology, in the heavenly Hall of the Warriors who fell heroically in battle (Valhalla), in the city of Asgard (City of the Gods), there were 800 of the most daring Vikings. Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as the Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). For this performance, she actually played the Etude as a prelude, but it’s not normally included in their shows. All five members of the band are Jedi-level musicians, but I think Miyako is a once-in-a generation talent, a true savant.
The piano tune you hear in the middle of the song is a backing track which Miyako recorded. As amazing as Miyako is, I don't think she'll be able to play the lead guitar and piano at the same time (even though she came pretty close at another live stream but that's another story 😎 )
@@kyles5513 Yep, that's what I was alluding to at the end of my comment. She played the cords on the guitar and the piano at the same time. Not sure if just playing the cords counts as playing the guitar but it's probably just semantics. Anyway, I don't think there are too many people on this planet who can do what Miyako did in the Burden of Time at that live stream. It was just incredible
And THAT'S why I argue that Lovebites are the most musically talented hard music band on earth. I challenge anyone to name another metal band that could play this song, and that is even without their Chopin intro.
How do you go from a Classic like Show Pan to Speed Shred with an emphasis on Melody and Musicianship. Why Lovebites of Course. Wow is an understatement.

gary you should see them play slow in epilogue, one of the best power ballad out there, i’ve seen grown men and women cry to it, it’s a very beautiful song.
Their songs cover many sub-genres of the metal - power, thrash, symphonic, progressive, plus ballads and some that are more rock. (edit: grammar) The piano was recorded by Miyako and played back here as a backing track, until when she jumped back on the piano. Miyako's name is pronounced Me-yah-ko. My suggestion for another masterfully composed song - Frozen Serenade th-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/w-d-xo.html. It's a slower song, or, is it? 🤔🤔🤫😁
Notice from 9:33 to 9:46 the band is playing the same stuff, as earlier, and the only one driving the change is Haruna with her change ups. In the 2 handed tap section she does 3 changes. in the beginning of the song she doubles her kick speed from one measure to the next for 3. When that repeats close to the ending she alters her middle measure. She is a damn genius and I've said this song if you pay attention is a tour de force of Haruna's creativity. She has become my favorite in the band.
In fact, Midori not only possesses outstanding performance skills, but also has a strong presence on stage. Many people are initially more attracted to her. But Miyako, who has been training her fingers on the piano since childhood, also has exceptional guitar skills that are difficult to compare with Midori's. Miyako is also highly regarded as a composer. Having been familiar with classical music for many years, she realized the similarities between metal and classical music and entered the world of metal. She excels at composing pieces that are a fusion of metal and classical, with intricate structures and emotional melodies. This is another level neoclassical metal.
Yes, in fact I don't think there is a Japanese syllable where 'yay' is used, it is almost exclusively a 'yah' sound. (I'm no expert, but I have seen this discussion more than once in other videos)
Midori is a bad ass, full on metal chick with so much energy its scary. She's probably a better guitar player, but Miyako is so much more talented. She plays, writes and composes much of the music.
Great reaction. I hold MakoDori, the guitar duo, as the best twin guitar attack. The name combines their names this way: Miyako (Mako) Midori (Dori). Miho was the bass player in this concert. She departed after the Ride For Vengeance Tour. She founded the band and Haruna was co-founder. Where Miyako has the edge is her composing skill and that she is a multi-multi-multi-instrumentalist. She plays guitars, keyboard, keytar, drums, bass and sings. Miyako wrote this song based off Chopin "Piano Etude Op. 10 No. 12" and Dvorak's New World Symphony. Chopin's "Piano Etude No. 10 Op. 12" is alternately titled Revolutionary Etude. It was based on The November Uprising (1830-31), also known as the Polish-Russian War 1830-31. This is about a Polish soldier who gave his life being looked at, probably, by the love of his life. Lovebites does have a lot of range from some blues rock, ballads, thrash metal, power metal, speed metal and melodic speed metal. These all female Japanese bands are killing it. Gave you a sub and a like.
Guitar battle between Midori vs Miyako is a common in most of their tracks. But if you want to see battle guitar vs keytar, so i suggest you to check : Spellbound live from 2021 concert
Miyako wrote the music to this song & Asami wrote the lyrics. Fami is not the bassist. Their old bassist Miho is in this video. Fami did not join the band until Sept. / Oct. Of 2022. 😏❤️🎙🎸🎹🥁😎🤘
Hi Gary!!!In this composition, Miho plays the bass guitar and not Fami.Fami replaced Miho in 2022.Miho and Haruna founded the band in 2016 and in 2021 Miho left the band because she wanted to find herself in something new.
Great reaction. These two titles make one set of suite sharing the one theme about death of heroes, dedication and sacrifice, honor and glory. Revolutionary Etude has a back story as Ahodori explained down below (the story also said to be fabricated later by a historian) and similar motif in the lyrics of Swan Song. The heroes can be anybody dedicate and sacrifice themselves to the others such as Polish cadets, Ukrainian soldiers, fire fighters and policemen in your town, or even your father and mother. These two songs also may be a suite musically starts with Chopin piano etude piano solo and ends with Chopin Ocean etude style piano solo. Try their Edge of the World th-cam.com/video/UZjxMjBop7w/w-d-xo.html. It is Miyako's guitar solo masterpiece, starting with Asami's beautiful slow ballad and Miyako's soulful and wailing bluesy solo. You may need a box of Kleenex. Enjoy!!

The Chopin piece performed by Miyako (guitar/keyboard) as the intro is "Etude OP10, No12", known as "Revolution Etude"
In 1831, an uprising of some officers and civilians against the Polish government under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, dubbed the "November Revolution", failed due to the direct intervention of Russian forces.
Thanks for the info 😁

It's not hard to "stick around" to the end of your reaction when you're clearly enjoying LOVEBITES. Who would have thought that a mix that included classical piano and a bit of ballet (watch Asami) by women under 5ft 3in in white dresses and high heels would make such a kick ass metal song. - Priceless.
I truly appreciate the feedback thanks
Fantastic reaction. Miyako is a neo-classical god.... Midori is a new-metal and hard rock god... and it amazes me that they two play together as well as they do.... despite Miyako's seemingly calm exterior, she is clearly an extremely strong personality underneath it all, and Midori is super showy on the outside as well as internally. Amazing to have both of them in the same group.
What a combo with these ladies indeed 🤘
btw, when you start listening with good headphones your LOVEBITES experience will enter an even more intricate & enthusiastic phase... almost like hearing 'for the first time' all over again.
Reminiscent of Cream, Wheel Of Fire LIVE with guitars 'panned' & drums spread across the stereo spectrum, just like sitting in the front row at a show (like I got to do seeing Cream in 1968!)
How Asami projects her melodies over the top of the METAL ONSLAUGHT is part of what gives their "metal" such broad appeal, imo. 🐺
Thank you I may infact start doing my reactions with headphones

LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
Floating lotus
You are so graceful
Saintly and glorious
Till the end of time
Floating lotus
You are so beautiful
Sing me your sweet song
The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
Oh brave soldier
Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven

You are so graceful

Miho was the bassist, not Fami 🙂
Miyako wrote the piece, not Fami (or Miho) 🙂
Valhalla is the resting place of Norse Warriors, not a battle, which is what Asami is alluding to.
I know I realized I screwed up the bass players' names. I'll get there 🤣
According to Scandinavian mythology, in the heavenly Hall of the Warriors who fell heroically in battle (Valhalla), in the city of Asgard (City of the Gods), there were 800 of the most daring Vikings.
One of Midori’s best solos in my opinion. Gets overlooked here due to the camera not giving her enough screen time while playing it.
@@doomfable3378 not once but twice, they don’t really keep the camera on her in the HMND version either. I agree, the solo is so melodic.

Awesome 😁
Agreed, Dystopia Symphony is their best prog metal.
And does it at the same time.😲

@@garyguitarguy84 I'm always happy to share information 😊
Ohhhh I had no idea thanks for the info
The piano tune you hear in the middle of the song is a backing track which Miyako recorded. As amazing as Miyako is, I don't think she'll be able to play the lead guitar and piano at the same time (even though she came pretty close at another live stream but that's another story 😎 )
Thanks for the info 😁
There's a song where she plays the piano and guitar at the same time
@@kyles5513 Yep, that's what I was alluding to at the end of my comment. She played the cords on the guitar and the piano at the same time. Not sure if just playing the cords counts as playing the guitar but it's probably just semantics. Anyway, I don't think there are too many people on this planet who can do what Miyako did in the Burden of Time at that live stream. It was just incredible
The piano you can hear is Miyako playing the key with he feeds, 😃
😆😁😁
And THAT'S why I argue that Lovebites are the most musically talented hard music band on earth. I challenge anyone to name another metal band that could play this song, and that is even without their Chopin intro.
Such amazing musical talent
How do you go from a Classic like Show Pan to Speed Shred with an emphasis on Melody and Musicianship. Why Lovebites of Course. Wow is an understatement.

They're pretty fn good
Hell yeah they are
Their songs cover many sub-genres of the metal - power, thrash, symphonic, progressive, plus ballads and some that are more rock. (edit: grammar)
The piano was recorded by Miyako and played back here as a backing track, until when she jumped back on the piano.
Miyako's name is pronounced Me-yah-ko.
My suggestion for another masterfully composed song - Frozen Serenade th-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/w-d-xo.html. It's a slower song, or, is it? 🤔🤔🤫😁
Hahahah or is it?
Tell me any song by them thats Symphonic or progressive. because they literally have none. Trash i can argue. but mainly its power metal
I can certainly understand why
In fact, Midori not only possesses outstanding performance skills, but also has a strong presence on stage. Many people are initially more attracted to her.
But Miyako, who has been training her fingers on the piano since childhood, also has exceptional guitar skills that are difficult to compare with Midori's.
Miyako is also highly regarded as a composer. Having been familiar with classical music for many years, she realized the similarities between metal and classical music and entered the world of metal. She excels at composing pieces that are a fusion of metal and classical, with intricate structures and emotional melodies. This is another level neoclassical metal.
For reference: Miyako is pronounced as “Mee-ocko” Try “Frozen Serenade” next, another masterpiece!!
Thank you I'll try and get that pronounced correctly next time 😁
Yes, in fact I don't think there is a Japanese syllable where 'yay' is used, it is almost exclusively a 'yah' sound. (I'm no expert, but I have seen this discussion more than once in other videos)
A better way to say it would be me - yah - koh since it's three syllables.
@@PaleHorseShabuShabu Yeah, but the way Asami pronounces it, it’s only one! 😁
welcome!miyako world!
She's awesome
Midori is a bad ass, full on metal chick with so much energy its scary. She's probably a better guitar player, but Miyako is so much more talented. She plays, writes and composes much of the music.
They both bring so much to the band
