Worked better than I expected it to do. Thanks for posting and especially starting off with your safety concerns, which are necessary to follow or at least consider before starting your work.
Traditionally you would use a cable or rope in a V with the center just under the log, with the hook on this bite, this way it will track straight every time and you get a double purchase making it easier on the winch. You will need to move the winch back some. If you read the small print on the winch it says not to use it non stop for more than a few minutes or it will burn up, I have done that.
I have heard that about concrete but not dirt. Either way this was temporary for the video and I am going to install an actual shelf for the battery when I do the solar panel, charge controller, and inverter install.
The Battery case insulates the internal cells from the ground. 12 volts is not enough voltage to overcome the insulation of the base, therefore a 12 volt battery will not discharge through the base to ground or concrete.
@@bebo5558 , I am an electrical engineer. If the a car battery case was conductive between the internal cells and the exterior case, it would discharge to the metal car frame. Most car batteries set directly on metal inside the engine compartment. The negative terminal of the battery connects to the metal car frame. Any conductivity through the battery case would quickly discharge a car battery. What you experienced was most likely a battery that had a bad cell.
@@RRinTNi thought your video was fine your not going for an Oscar. TY for sharing, I might do a manual winch I use that now when pulling logs out the woods with my. Log hauler. Is that a woodmizer mill or woodlands mill?
@@hjr927 woodland Mills.... Sadly had to stop doing videos for a while... Too many people in this space causing trouble for people like myself. Won't get into it but let's just say people need to mind their own business.

Thx for sharing
apa kayu kasia boss
Wood and concrete will drain your battery charge..need a rubber mat to sit it on
Using 2 winches u could straighten out the most aggravating of logs
Don't set the battery directly on the ground, sometimes it can pull the charge out of the battery! Maybe a box or shelf to set it on.

@jacklabloom635 Obviously, you have a different opinion, but don't tell me it doesn't happen, I've had a battery do it to me!

You need to record your work and not show us the after work and if need be speed up the video.
I am starting to as I do more videos... I had to get some items to hold the camera and such. Newbie LOL

@ sorry to hear that but I have heard other channels complaining about being harassed on YT
