Looking forward to this van build. Got a Chevy G30 ambulance which iam converting I to an overlander/bike carrier and may swap the 6.5 diesel for an OM 605 onto the 4l80e. Also looking to use a divorced transfer case and Dana 44HD front axle. Have had all the parts for years and this may be the project to use them on.
What transfer case you're using? Np271 have an option for divorced input flange, can't remember what company makes them but they do, shame is too expensive and hard to find them in UK
@@zurawskimotorsport It's an NP205 which I've had for years. Super strong but heavy bastard. I do have an adaptor for 2wd 4l80e which I could use but it depends what output shaft is fitted as I will have to shorten it substantially to suit the adaptor. It is pretty easy to set the NP205 up for divorced mounting thankfully so that may be the best option which also makes it easier for me to have a different transmission if I need to swap out the 4l80e. Still need to get the Chevy on the road to give it a good shake down as it's been standing for years. I've been through the whole vehicle and replaced just about everything that is likely to fail on it but still don't have that much faith in the old 6.5 lump.
I’ve been following ur builds online mainly the vivaro van. And seen here kits u been building. I’ve just got myself involved in a sprinter engine swap, just looking at options. I’m getting this right??? Ur making a bolt in frame/kit to take a transfer box and axle for a sprinter or crafter? Do u know when these will be available? Ps loving the work.
Thank you. Well, don't know is the accurate answer really, mr2 mk3 1.8t swaps and my racing is taking all my time, as soon as I have time I'll do it but when will that happen I don't know atm. I want my crafter to get the 4x4 system on so.... And yes about 50/60% of it is done as I've already designed the sub frame. But the rest have to wait. Hopefully at some point next year
Very curious about the 4x4 conversation. I have a 2011 Crafter 2.5 10v engine and wish I had 4wd on it. I think there would be a market for a conversion kit for the Sprinter/Crafter. Maybe not something as hardcore overlanding as you planning to build but a refit that that leaves the van mostly stock but adds 4wd....
The problem with a proper 4x4 system is that the front differential needs space in the subframe in order to maintain the std suspension setup, that requires 5,5" lift and at least 33" tyres ideally 35", plus final differential ratios would require that size tyres as well in order to maintain a good speed to engine rpms ratio when cruising. It is quiet a complex setup
Okay, I was hoping there would be a not so complex solution. Iglhaut in Germany makes something like that but is hideously expensive. The original MB 4x4 versions have a very compact front diff and a front subframe that lifts the van to make space for the diff en other stuff. Was hoping you could make something like that... Anyway, cool project, very curious how it wil end up!
@@jan-willemterhorst3936 That's exactly what I'm doing but only with the slim Merc diff is possible to lift it it a little only any normal/traditional diff needs much more space but gives more options plus is stronger and can change ratios
This is such a quality Van Build, like your previous one.
Crazy 4x4 system plan
Тоже собираюсь ставить ом605. 960 на крафтера вместо родного двигателя. Тнвд механический с плунжерами 6мм.
🎥👍
I would love to 4x4 om606 my crafter.

Hi Thomas did you get the clocks working with the om605 ?
Cool

Okay, I understand. Only option is with original MB 4wd parts then....
Hi Thomas, what VNT turbo you running on the Om605 and Om606!
Hyyymm
Wish I'd never sold my 605 sprinter ☹️
Witam znowu zajebisty projekt mam pytanie skrzynia biegów pasuje czy trzeba flananszw pod im 605? Dziękuje pozdrawiam Robert
Dzieki, skrzynia pasuje ale od sprintera 2007.
Jakiś konkretny model sprintera? Ja chce tylko napęd na tył dzięki
