Reddit is so weird. There can be thousands of upvoted threads of them bullying someone to death for absolutely nothing yet they cry when their favorite celebrity gets bodyshamed.
It's called mental illness. When I realized that reddit was toxic and full of degeneracy I was on a speed run to get banned from the site. Took longer than expected but eventually got it.
Redditors need to have the most basic things explained to them. You can say that you like color red more than green and they will keep asking you "why?" and demand an explanation. These people are out of touch with reality.

From my experience reddit boils down to these things: - Upvote farmers - Butthurt people who wine about everything - People who desperately need to touch grass - People who think that since they're "anonymous" they can treat everyone like shit - some nice, cool people to talk to
The lesser people the sub has, the funnier is to use, piratefolk, a one piece subreddit was incredibly fun at the 20k, middly funny at 30k, and basicly "main sub 2.0 after the 40k
The "Terminally Online" phenomenon really highlights the slippery slope of a shame-free society. It used to be that if you were a secret weirdo, you'd be ashamed to share it in public, so you'd keep it to yourself. "Quarantined degeneracy" if you will. Finding a community of thousands of like-minded people justifies your actions in a way, therefore compounding unhealthy lifestyles.

Reddit is really only good for things like fanbases and hobbies. Those are places where you can genuinely connect with people with shared interests in a non-degenerate and semi-normal manner. There's a subreddit for every type of niche hobby under the sun and one for every series/genre of media out there. That's the only thing I'd ever suggest anyone use Reddit for.

That day, I knew redditors deserved their reputations.

I got banned from Reddit with a fairly old account (Not like it was a good deal, but I had a lot of conversations and articles saved etc etc) for having a peaceful discourse with the Trump supporter back in 2016 where I was simply expressing my confusion as to supporting someone like him). Not sure why, and it was on r/politics, but when I was talking about Trump's propensity to ramble and never answer questions, I likened him to a kid making things up as he's telling a bogus story. I was not rude, nor was the Trump supporter, it was peaceful. The reason for the ban: *Hate speech* I suppose another Trump supporter reported me, but that mod read that very civil discussion, and banned me for it. Legitimately, I was always fairly civil online, didn't really talk about politics much, and I had had like two warnings several years before that and that's it... The moderators were doing nothing to control the disinformation in the comments section, but they sure were picking off very subjective things. There was no standard.
I got permanently banned because someone told me to kill myself. I called them out on it in a comment saying they were promoting suicide and I got banned for harassment and promoting violence. Sucks because Reddit is a genuinely good idea that is managed and mutilated by the most petty, power hungry, and petulant people to ever walk the Earth. I think r/antiwork is a perfect example of Redditor mentality from a political standpoint. People are still trying to convince me that r/antiwork is actually a movement to help the downtrodden in society while simultaneously telling me half the people there work in physically and mentally demanding jobs... I highly doubt that seeing just how many posts about minimum wage exist on that sub. I lurk there from time to time and there's at least a few of them per day. It's extra disappointing that they don't flick an eye at inflation like it isn't ruining minimum wage work, they just want to continually increase it no matter what the circumstances are. In general a LOT of posts have some pretty retarded takes, even from a Leftist point of view. There's thinking that shelter, water, and food are basic human rights, and then there's antiwork level where they think the only thing they should work for is buying random shit they want, and for only 4-8 hours a day too! They believe the way to achieve their utopia is through massive reform and a socialist gov. Because you know, people are able to get every single need quenched for free while working a low stress 6 hour job in countries like Denmark or a more extreme version like the Cold War USSR. Not to say livings standards in places like Denmark and the now-defunct Cold War USSR were terrible, but no where near the utopian lalaland they strive for. (Denmark has good living standards but it isn't utopia) The few good posts on that sub were, surprise surprise, made by people in actual jobs who have at least a basic understanding of economics and whatnot. We know that he was a moderator because following the interview, the mods over on the subreddit posted a statement where they said that there were 4 other interviews that had been done, and that following the Fox fiasco this particular moderator was removed. This alone quite clearly shows that the person doing the interview was not some rando that Fox pulled to do the interview, this person was a moderator. Similarly I find it hard to believe that none of the other moderators knew him. We can speculate how well they knew him, but at the very least they had to be aware of his existence. The truth is that there was no grand conspiracy by a TV channel do discredit a fucking subreddit, what happened instead is that you got played. The question remains as to whether you played yourself or were played by the mod, but going by how some of you try and spin this story I am leaning more towards the former

as someone whose had experience with being a mod, i can say that it's mostly the huge subs with 100+ mods that are like this. it's not nearly as bad on niche subreddits, and I just do it to help people who need it. also, if anyone thinks that it's a real job, they probably have never touched a real woman before.

Damn, it’s only now that I’m realizing: growing up in the digital age really made my brain overstimulated, and that’s why I can’t seem to enjoy a lot of things in the real world. And before you call me a no-life loser who needs to touch grass in the replies - you’re right. I also think this is why especially now so many younger people can’t focus on stuff like school or work, because we’ve been constantly exposed to all these different stimuli in such short times so often that our brains have just become conditioned and used to having so many things happening at once that everything else seems so boring.
It's honestly frightening what companies and other greedy inbreds have come up with to addict us to products. They introduce us to a "super-stimulus" that's far more appealing to our brains than any normal/healthy activity, and make it relatively easy to access. Then, they simply play off the bad side-effects of their super-stimulus and make you think it's actually perfectly normal to engage in. See porn or to some degree junk food. Always cheap and easy to access, while incredibly addicting/unhealthy to engage in. Also, touch grass. (Side note: Obviously, not all super-stimulus are malicious, it's one hell of a stretch to say all people who do a specific thing have ill-intentions. Sometimes, even murders don't have malicious intent.)
I hear you, and recognizing it is a great step. If I can offer you a challenge that will help you, go watch a bunch of videos on "dopamine detox". Basically you cut off all screens and can even include sugar/carbs, porn/mb, and anything that is overly-stimulating. And your brain stops being dependent on these things after a while. Then disable your social media accounts, block the websites using an extension for browser, and a blocker app for your phone, and put parental time limits on your games. There are even soft versions where you can just limit your access time to 1-2 hours a day if the cold turkey is too much. It's hard at first, but it improves your life soooo much.
My parents found out the problem quite early (twelve years old) and they told me inmediately. At first I was mad at them, but when I analised myself and realised what I did every day I came to the conclusion that I had developed some attention span issues. Now that I'm sixteen I do feel a visible improvement from two years ago when I started taking the issue seriously. I've discovered that I love going out for walks, traveling and living, now I can manage school better and I feel more confident about starting hobbies and personal projects. I feel like I'm more connected to my life and my goals. I really encourage you to find things to do outside the computer (specialy social media, as I personaly feel that it is WAY worse for time management than video games and other stuff), get used to apreciate life more and create at least a short term life project. I'm quite happy right now with my life and I want to work for my future. Sorry if this came off a bit pretentious. I didn't really mean it, as I probably am even younger than you, who I guess is already living full on independent and stuff. You're probably dealing with more inmediate issues right now that I haven't even got to at this stage of my life, but change on this front is possible, and you have already taken the first step by realising the problem in the first place, so congrats! It probably took me way more time than you to figure things out. You can make it, you just need to analyse yourself and plan accordingly, not just on this, but on any personal issue you might find yourself in. Good luck in life, Graham!

I only really found out about their degeneracy after one of them banned my favourite subreddit 2Balkan4You and other subreddits with connection to it for hate speech and racism I think. How ironic that it was stated more than enought that all the posts are ironic and that nothing really broke the terms of service. @@209_FM yep it was banned. I was there when it happened, I saw how the discord server fell into chaos and all that happened afterwards. All the desperate attempts to bring it back failed. Every new sub related to it got banned. Now the discord server is the new 2Balkan4You, but it isn't really the same since it's a discord server. A lot of new people joined there too which poured even more salt into the wound.
I'm an comission artist and I tell you that those kind of people are just a top of an iceberg. In my job I've encountered so many fucked up people. In my pursuit of easy money I was diving deeper and deeper and things I've seen and heared are truly terrifying... I can tell you from personal experience that there are sex workers out there who subject their children to bullying because they chose to publicize their adult content. i’ve used reddit only a couple times since the people who use it tend to either be complete smartasses, degenerates, and in rare cases, good people. I remember posting my first reddit post when I was around 13 of a game that i was playing on my grandparents pc, but i took the picture on my PHONE of the monitor. Was immediately lambasted and called a retard by multiple people for not knowing how to take a screenshot on a computer.

Sharing something I found cool that a mobile game has better engine building mechanics than AAA games. You know what I got? A moron called me out and said "What a shitty advertisement" I'm not even advertising it FFS just sharing something I found amazing, and then proceeded the downvotes, few people are concerned on why the down votes when I'm just showing something cool, then that moron literally got up voted several times, and literally got mad when I said I'm not even advertising the game and called me a "New account advertiser" dude. Redditors literally lack the common sense, basic understanding, and holy shit their breaking down ability is total garbage. Their brains seems to be made out of a fucking brick, gosh, how can someone assume something that's not even real yet people agree with him? There are subreddits dedicated to mobile gaming like r/iosgaming and r/AndroidGaming which are decent if you're interested.

Regarding that "resisting primal instincts" and the obsession for sex...I was unlucky enough during the start of the pandemic to be working in another province/state from where I lived...and for various reasons was trapped there almost 5 months in a hotel room the company paid for us...far away from my family, friends and girlfriend. Next year I was checking income vs expenses and there was like a USD 1k hole in my accounts...turns that I had spent most of it in "adult material" during those 5 months (even sending money to random women influencers for them to buy things for photoshoots)....the level of thrist I had was inhuman! I guess out of boredom and social disconnect....so for a time I totally was a Reddit degenerate (or at least felt like one) even if I don't use Reddit myself ^^ It's truly one of the lowest levels of human existence and felt like shit during all of it, even worse when I realized how much money I lost in it. This video was cathartic to watch, thanks for that!

Man, this gives me hope. I’m not really someone who’s online much. I’m 22, and mostly stick to myself. I don’t really text or use social media at all. Never owned a Reddit account, never owned a Twitter, and I use Instagram to shitpost history memes. I see my friends like once a week, and I like it that way. I’ve always thought I was weird for preferring to stay off line and have like 4 or 5 close irl friends and that’s really it. This makes me glad to know no matter how strange I am for preferring to be alone, I’m not a complete degenerate like these guys

@@NdellaTall While I’m lucky enough to live in a mountainous state not everyone can go hiking or go to nature. So id also suggest going to parks if you can. Another good hobby is fishing. I personally use hooks that cause minimal harm and only try to catch what I’m going to eat. I’d also suggest working out. Doesn’t have to be anything crazy, but going on a daily jog in the morning instead of scrolling through Instagram seriously is a great mood lifter. I’d also suggest getting into some sort of art. I do photography which can be expensive, but drawing is super cheap, and very therapeutic. Wood carving is another very fun one. Also, might seem strange but honest to go, shooting is a really good therapeutic hobby. I go to the state game lands range, and most people there are very sociable and friendly, often they wanna talk about whatever firearm you bring (me and the boys bring the old WW2 rifles to the range and all the old guys always come over to see what we got) I’d also suggest getting into something like paintballing or airsofting if that’s your thing. Also, video games aren’t as bad as social media if you don’t let yourself become addicted. Maybe play like, an hour of a puzzle game when you feel like you’re bored and wanna scrolls thru social media.

Reddit is really only good for things like fanbases and hobbies. Those are places where you can genuinely connect with people with shared interests in a non-degenerate and semi-normal manner. There's a subreddit for every type of niche hobby under the sun and one for every series/genre of media out there. That's the only thing I'd ever suggest anyone use Reddit for.

I got banned from Reddit with a fairly old account (Not like it was a good deal, but I had a lot of conversations and articles saved etc etc) for having a peaceful discourse with the Trump supporter back in 2016 where I was simply expressing my confusion as to supporting someone like him). Not sure why, and it was on r/politics, but when I was talking about Trump's propensity to ramble and never answer questions, I likened him to a kid making things up as he's telling a bogus story. I was not rude, nor was the Trump supporter, it was peaceful.

I think r/antiwork is a perfect example of Redditor mentality from a political standpoint. People are still trying to convince me that r/antiwork is actually a movement to help the downtrodden in society while simultaneously telling me half the people there work in physically and mentally demanding jobs... I highly doubt that seeing just how many posts about minimum wage exist on that sub. I lurk there from time to time and there's at least a few of them per day. It's extra disappointing that they don't flick an eye at inflation like it isn't ruining minimum wage work, they just want to continually increase it no matter what the circumstances are.
In general a LOT of posts have some pretty retarded takes, even from a Leftist point of view. There's thinking that shelter, water, and food are basic human rights, and then there's antiwork level where they think the only thing they should work for is buying random shit they want, and for only 4-8 hours a day too! They believe the way to achieve their utopia is through massive reform and a socialist gov. Because you know, people are able to get every single need quenched for free while working a low stress 6 hour job in countries like Denmark or a more extreme version like the Cold War USSR. Not to say livings standards in places like Denmark and the now-defunct Cold War USSR were terrible, but no where near the utopian lalaland they strive for. (Denmark has good living standards but it isn't utopia)
The few good posts on that sub were, surprise surprise, made by people in actual jobs who have at least a basic understanding of economics and whatnot. I can respect them, but that subreddit I cannot respect.

Yeah some subs require a certain amount of Karma to comment but pretty much that’s something that people can easily achieve. Also 4Chan for the most part it’s just trolls looking to piss people off, Reddit does have some weird af communities and many communities as well are very biased and very discriminatory or just very rude towards certain people. Id say they’re more on par with each other and worse than each in their own certain aspects.

We know that he was a moderator because following the interview, the mods over on the subreddit posted a statement where they said that there were 4 other interviews that had been done, and that following the Fox fiasco this particular moderator was removed. Similarly I find it hard to believe that none of the other moderators knew him. We can speculate how well they knew him, but at the very least they had to be aware of his existence.

Damn, it’s only now that I’m realizing: growing up in the digital age really made my brain overstimulated, and that’s why I can’t seem to enjoy a lot of things in the real world. And before you call me a no-life loser who needs to touch grass in the replies - you’re right. I also think this is why especially now so many younger people can’t focus on stuff like school or work, because we’ve been constantly exposed to all these different stimuli in such short times so often that our brains have just become conditioned and used to having so many things happening at once that everything else seems so boring.
It's honestly frightening what companies and other greedy inbreds have come up with to addict us to products. They introduce us to a "super-stimulus" that's far more appealing to our brains than any normal/healthy activity, and make it relatively easy to access. Then, they simply play off the bad side-effects of their super-stimulus and make you think it's actually perfectly normal to engage in. See porn or to some degree junk food. Always cheap and easy to access, while incredibly addicting/unhealthy to engage in.
Also, touch grass.
(Side note: Obviously, not all super-stimulus are malicious, it's one hell of a stretch to say all people who do a specific thing have ill-intentions. Sometimes, even murders don't have malicious intent.)

If I can offer you a challenge that will help you, go watch a bunch of videos on "dopamine detox". Basically you cut off all screens and can even include sugar/carbs, porn/mb, and anything that is overly-stimulating. And your brain stops being dependent on these things after a while.
Then disable your social media accounts, block the websites using an extension for browser, and a blocker app for your phone, and put parental time limits on your games. There are even soft versions where you can just limit your access time to 1-2 hours a day if the cold turkey is too much.
It's hard at first, but it improves your life soooo much.
My parents found out the problem quite early (twelve years old) and they told me inmediately. At first I was mad at them, but when I analised myself and realised what I did every day I came to the conclusion that I had developed some attention span issues. Now that I'm sixteen I do feel a visible improvement from two years ago when I started taking the issue seriously. I've discovered that I love going out for walks, traveling and living, now I can manage school better and I feel more confident about starting hobbies and personal projects. I feel like I'm more connected to my life and my goals. I really encourage you to find things to do outside the computer (specialy social media, as I personaly feel that it is WAY worse for time management than video games and other stuff), get used to apreciate life more and create at least a short term life project. I'm quite happy right now with my life and I want to work for my future.
Sorry if this came off a bit pretentious. I didn't really mean it, as I probably am even younger than you, who I guess is already living full on independent and stuff. You're probably dealing with more inmediate issues right now that I haven't even got to at this stage of my life, but change on this front is possible, and you have already taken the first step by realising the problem in the first place, so congrats! Regarding that "resisting primal instincts" and the obsession for sex...I was unlucky enough during the start of the pandemic to be working in another province/state from where I lived...and for various reasons was trapped there almost 5 months in a hotel room the company paid for us...far away from my family, friends and girlfriend.
Next year I was checking income vs expenses and there was like a USD 1k hole in my accounts...turns that I had spent most of it in "adult material" during those 5 months (even sending money to random women influencers for them to buy things for photoshoots)....the level of thrist I had was inhuman! I guess out of boredom and social disconnect....so for a time I totally was a Reddit degenerate (or at least felt like one) even if I don't use Reddit myself ^^
It's truly one of the lowest levels of human existence and felt like shit during all of it, even worse when I realized how much money I lost in it.

Man, this gives me hope. I’m not really someone who’s online much. I’m 22, and mostly stick to myself. I don’t really text or use social media at all. Never owned a Reddit account, never owned a Twitter, and I use Instagram to shitpost history memes. I see my friends like once a week, and I like it that way. I’ve always thought I was weird for preferring to stay off line and have like 4 or 5 close irl friends and that’s really it. This makes me glad to know no matter how strange I am for preferring to be alone, I’m not a complete degenerate like these guys

@@NdellaTall I go hiking, go to the range with my friends, go on walks, do photography, stuff like that. Social media is really mentally damaging in the long run
@@NdellaTall While I’m lucky enough to live in a mountainous state not everyone can go hiking or go to nature. So id also suggest going to parks if you can. Another good hobby is fishing. I personally use hooks that cause minimal harm and only try to catch what I’m going to eat. I’d also suggest working out. Doesn’t have to be anything crazy, but going on a daily jog in the morning instead of scrolling through Instagram seriously is a great mood lifter. I’d also suggest getting into some sort of art. I do photography which can be expensive, but drawing is super cheap, and very therapeutic. Wood carving is another very fun one. Also, might seem strange but honest to go, shooting is a really good therapeutic hobby. I go to the state game lands range, and most people there are very sociable and friendly, often they wanna talk about whatever firearm you bring (me and the boys bring the old WW2 rifles to the range and all the old guys always come over to see what we got) I’d also suggest getting into something like paintballing or airsofting if that’s your thing. Also, video games aren’t as bad as social media if you don’t let yourself become addicted. Maybe play like, an hour of a puzzle game when you feel like you’re bored and wanna scrolls thru social media.
