The best dead show I attended. We drove down to Des Moines state fairground from Cedar Falls with my friend Joe and our girlfriends. The band was kicking on all cylinders and electrical energy filled the crowd in front of the stage. The rainbow broke out as they played Here Comes Sunshine in the 2nd set. What a show. Thank you for posting. It brings back very fond memories after all these years.

There's a wonderful poignancy to He's Gone that also hearkens a good ol' New Orleans funeral: the person may be gone but the soul lives on and inspires others to continue truckin' on! Well done, again, Wall!

Another selection from WOS packed with awesomeness (is that a word?). Many highlights but China Doll is the Zenith. Jerry's sings this so incredibly well. Maybe my fave China Doll ever.

I'm kind of surprised they played outside in the Midwest in May. The weather is touch and go at that time of year (I'm from Minnesota). I checked the weather on that date and it was 39 the night before the show, but I guess it got up to 65 that day. I saw them at the 6/16/74 show in Des Moines. My oh my. Miss you Jerry! OK, Deadheads, what's the coldest outside show the Dead ever did?
Rush was never my cup of tea, but I've always had great admiration for Neal Peart. A very classy guy and an extraordinary musician. My heart feels heavy with this news.

You can hear the difference...

Mothers Day '73. The Dead were definitely feeling the flow during this time. Seems like everything they did from '72 to '74 sounded perfect.
So I asked Mom what she wanted for Mothers Day. She said some peace & quiet. So I went to see the Dead. Good choice.
