    The precision of these guys driving a 25 ton vehicle, lining it up, and picking up knocked over cans, is something to be admired. 🤯🙌

      @@jacobolson6145 You'd be surprised, most of them are pretty cool with it. When you are sitting in a truck by yourself for 8-12 hours a day doing nothing but collecting trash cans you begin to appreciate stuff like kids following you around and talking to you a lot. They show a lot more appreciation towards trash collectors than most residents do so I can understand it. Course i'm bias cuz I'm 17 and still making videos for people to enjoy of trucks but that's just what i think happens. I would definitely would be that way if i was the driver.

      he helped the world by sharing these videos. he helped the garbage man out (that he knew on first name basis) by laughing loudly every time the bin fell into the truck. he helped youtube out by creating content. he helped other people in the community by picking the bins that were spilled by those who put their bins too close together when they are told repeatedly including on the bins themselves to space them a couple feet or so for the drivers. he is a good boy. but i dunno if we should thank the boy for doing his job though, that sends the wrong message to an future hustler.

    These guys are doing the absolute best they can, There are multiple issues that they are battling, first waste management needs to check their grippers, and belts, the fact they don't close fully is one issue. Next residents need to space their containers out, and there won't be as many issues. Third, because carts are so close they fall over and these carts to tend to not have the best balance issues. I don't see any driver error.

    • @andrew5117
      @andrew5117 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s no lock involved with a side loader. I drive one of these and the only thing holding the can is the claw fingers that’s why there is rubber on the inside of the claw to help grip it. The bars on the front of cans are useless with these types of trucks

I helped him out through the whole neighborhood he even let me run the packer. He wouldn't let me ride from stop to stop because there was a supervisor following him in the previous neighborhood. He was so grateful. He said I cut his time by about an hour and a half.

    I'm from Australia and in most waste collection situations we don't usually put our bins so close that they're touching each other. Some people put bins a bit too close together, but not so close as to be touching. I've seen garbage truck operators who have had to go forward a bin, empty that one in, and then back up to the previous bin that was supposed to be emptied, so they can then empty it. I try to put the bins at least a spread hand width apart, solves a lot of problems. Some older style clamping mechanisms have the straps swing wide which may hit the bins next to the one being picked up, although newer style clamping mechanisms have a slightly different swing path due to a better design that doesn't swing the straps so wide, so can more easily pick up bins close to one another. Worst case scenario I have seen is that the operator has to get out of the truck and manually rearrange the garbage bins before picking them up
    Other things garbage truck operators don't like include - but are not limited to:
    Overfull bins that have garbage bags fall off the bin they've been perched on, when they clamp onto them, and which are only staying on due to their weight and the negligible pressure of the thin bin lid.
    Bins that have excessively long or spindly objects sticking or hanging out of the bin. if it dangles excessively out of the front or side(s) of the bin, they may even sticker the bin instead of collecting it.
    Bins that are broken or are in need of replacement because part of the bin has broken and is in need of replacing, thus causing garbage to get stuck inside the interior of the bin because it is catching on a section of plastic that has broken and been pushed inside the bin by clamping forces when picked up. If the driver discovers damage, they may, at their sole discretion, replace the bin, or sticker it for the resident to get replaced. Some older bins are so badly damaged that they start to get brittle and fall apart, it's not fun seeing a bin get into the hopper, and usually, the driver just leaves it there and sometimes has to go back to the depot to get it removed.

    I'm British and our bin truck work differently, one driver with another worker who exits the truck, manually pushes the bins to the double tipper at the rear. once in place the tipper empties the bins and then lowers them back down. the cab has a standard drivers hinge door (right offside) and the nearside (left) has a consortia door (like a bus) so the worker can easily and safely enter/exit when needed. Some UK bin trucks ( or lorries as we call them) have a side claw, much like the trucks in your country.

    5:35 mark , those customers cans should have been tagged telling them to place cans farther apart . Come next week if they're the same, tag them and don't service. They will never learn if this isn't done.

      If they did that they would have to tag almost every cart on some routes. An ideal world they would be spaced well but you and me both know that will never happen

    Is it really better, faster or cheaper than the old way we do in Hungary?
    We have 2 workers on the back, who feeds the truck from the rear. There are no broken bins or missing tops, no mistakenly dropped in bins and they can get everything from the ground if fallen. It takes about no time as they don' t need to leave the cabin...
