    Do you prefer interview questions about your teaching or research?!

      I would certainly prefer research questions as I have the most experience as a researcher. I am ok to answer teaching questions if it's ok to derive answers based on your teaching assistant experience :)

    @DrCST I just discovered your channel and loving your videos! I was wondering whether you could make a video on the topic of cover letters. I've adjusted my CV as per your suggestions in a different video. However, I am lacking some tips on how to prepare a solid cover letter. As I prepare to apply for my first job as a soon-to-be law Ph.D., it would be extremely useful and surely a great addition to your collection!

      Thanks for watching and the great video idea! Cover letters are now on the list 😀 All the best for your PhD.

    I will have my I interview in June as I have just started my PGCE (as part of lecturing role). I am really enjoying the course so far.

    Thank you for this very resourceful channel. You shed a lot of light in these significant matters about the UK academia. My first question is what if a candidate for a UK lecturer in public health doesn't have British English, but rather practices American English (speech).
    The second question is what if you don't have a PhD at all, and I understand the prerequisite to have a PhD in majority of lecturer jobs, but instead use a substitute - a medical degree and relevant master's degree for example?
    The third question is having experience as a teaching assistant and a research assistant (within American academia/university) can fulfill the most requirements for teaching/research experience?

      1. From my experience, within the science, it is the communication of ideas/research that is important not the phrasing of your language.
      2. Check out th-cam.com/video/IRj5rX5UF30/w-d-xo.html about needing a PhD.
      3. This will really depend on the requirements of the job you are applying for. For research experience demonstrating a good publication track record, academic network and funding experience is often required.
      Hope this helps 😀

    Hi Dr, amazing video. Could you do a video on dressing code of lecturers in UK on various days teaching and non teaching.

    • @DrCST
      @DrCST  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Of course - I am no fashion star 🤣 but absolutely can share typical UK dress codes.

    Hi Caroline,
    Can you please throw some light on inclusive education and the practices followed in the class. This question is constantly asked in the teaching fellow interviews. Would be highly obliged if you could also share some some links.

    Hi, I really like your videos and find them so helpful. Do you think having worked as a GCSE/A-Levels private tutor is relevant teaching experience for a lectureship? Thanks

    • @DrCST
      @DrCST  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching the videos! I'd suggest working as a private tutor would give skills that could be applied to undergraduate tutorial classes, especially in year 1😃

    Hello. Thank you very much for these videos. I would like to inquire about employment in UK universities. Can I be employed in it? I am from outside the UK. I hold a Ph.D. And beyond. I have nearly 10 years of teaching experience.

      Within my academic department and faculty I have colleagues from around the world 😀 I would recommend having a look at UK job adverts for your subject - this should give some insight into both the technical/teaching job specification and also eligibility requirements (e.g. visa's). Thanks for watching the videos :)
