+Diaboloshadowkill I get where he is coming from. Ken is not played at the ranges youw would usually play him. He is extremely good at long range though his fireball suck balls, he sucks at mid range, footsie range, and is decent applying pressure, but you need to know what buttons to push and read your opponent.
I'm still learning to play him and at first I felt like I could not do a thing because I wanted to play footsies, and he only has his crouching medium punch for that (which is really good). But now I'm starting to wrap my heard around his gameplay and he really is good.
And a Ken player must activate his v-trigger. It is super helpfull. The possibility to absorb a fireball with his tatsu during v-trigger is very needed against Ryu.
Ken isn't bad, but he has to work harder in this game. Everyone in the game is solid, it's just who & how you want to play.
How to win with Ken.
Step 1: Shoryuken
Step 2: Shoryuken
If the first two steps fail try doing another Shoryuken.
And you'll get rekt.

I like playing as Ken but his normals do suck balls, his fireball too. His best poke is MP. Momochi makes him look good though.

Ken is supergood. You just need to be a decent player, and be able to hit confirm consistantly.
I'm new to the game and have picked up Nash and can do his basic combos pretty easy now, but I've taken a liking to Ken, think it'd be a bad idea to switch to him for a beginner?
Double Kill Both are good but Nash is better overall. As far as who's better for a beginner, Ken or Ryu would work.

also Ken is my favorite character, also the design of Ken is super good looking and cool! playing as him is just the besttttt!
I feel that Ken is stronger in this game than Ryu. While Ryu definitely does more damage, Ken has so much more confirms because of c.MP > target combo as well as heavies > V skill > L. Tatsu. Fireballs are pretty bad in this game so his far range game isn't affected that much anyway and his dashes cover for his longer range neutral game anyway. His V-trigger is up there with M. Bison as far as getting damage conversions go too, unlike Ryu who needs to make more risky plays to get burst damage.
i have one rival/friend on sf, in sf4 i use vega as my main, and can fight pretty even with him, but in sf5, he just keeps destroying my vega because he was too weak against ryu, now i discover ken and realize he's the only character i know of being on par with ryu.
On Combo 5 (7:18) if you do the Shoryuuken with MP it will do more damage.
I hope they add more critical arts.
+Elven King In the trailer to cinematic story mode Ken does his Shinryuken, so maybe it will be added later.
+Elven King don't hold your breath, the execution of the movesets have been designed as to not interfere with buffering so adding new ones in would mean having to choose between one or the other. And because CA's are used as combo enders with vtrigger being the utility skill there wouldn't be much added to the game with a new set of CA's.

It was stated that using quick step cancel after a normal was good to get in, little do they know, you can punish all his quick step cancels AND HE IS RIGHT BACK OUT.

+biohazard724 it's actually what alot of other players are saying due to ken's garbage normal range and priority. where as he can just range people out and punish hard on whiffs.

i feel like i rarely throw a fireball from ken unless i cancel it in from a normal in this game... either way, it feels natural running and pressuring people unlike ryu. both shotos feel diferent in this game which they should.

Ken can be a good character though you see alot of incompetent ones floating around the only Kens that I've seen are good are silver or above he's changed a lot in style but his basic inputs have remained the same .

yo, I just started playing this game. Load a casual match, did okay against some big guy. Went against mirror ken and oh.my.god. I am scared to play again. He combo 4d me so many times and I just was in aweh that the character could fly and do so much. He finished me with combo 5 and I had to see how he did it, thanks YT

Stuff like this annoys me... This is information that should be on the disk. Instead they put that stupid useless tutorial. This is what Capcom needs to have to allow players to have something to practice on. Add footies, blocking training, make it interactive so players can practice while they are learning, because causal players won't go on the Internet to look for information... They just give up and stop playing
Also, see the combo examples... Imagine a trial like system where you could practice, however these combo would be more efficient than the normal trial system Capcom have had for years
+Franky Keney The challenge modes are coming out in March. Those will give you the same combos they put here and more. It is a lot to put into the game and most players would not sit down to watch them.
+EloquentandRarity I absolutely disagree most players won't watch it... I don't understand why people think this. When all new players do is complain about how fighting games are hard/they don't know how or what to learn. Something like this would be easy information access on disk. And like I said before, then make this interactive so it's not all watching/listening, which allows the player to take in what being said by trying out said information given. And then even if down the line if frame data changes because they have basis they can easily adapt than coming from nowhere
They want to complain without spending time to learn.
Too bad the only way a player can learn is through extensive research on the internet... which is really ineffective... Also, just because other players had to learn primarily this way, doesn't mean it good, because it not imo

+Okey Agu servers are only down because they werent expecting that many players from pc and ps4 to play. its normal for most new games. its been a week since launch and they did a server maintenance yesterday to try and resolve the problem. Capcom is playing close attention is SFV. so if it sucks, just keep bitching and they'll listen.

I can, just keep practicing. Here's a funny combo you can practice: J.HK, C.HP, HADOKEN, V-TRIGGER, cr.MP, L.Tatsu, H.Shoryu, Critical Art
It only works in the corner but there are variations to make it work anywhere, this foe example: (right after initiating V-TRIGGER) MK-HK TARGET COMBO, Critical Art.

it means neutral.
+Alfred PianoMan It means neutral position. That's when the stick isn't being tilted in any direction. Not typically used since you'll be holding a direction down for buffering purposes 98% of the time. The only time you really leave the stick in the neutral position is while playing the footsies game and throwing off your opponent's sense of distancing.

America Eagle I don't care if SF5 is a demo. I seen the gameplay footage here on TH-cam. The Street Fighter 4 series is WAY better than the Street Fighter 5 series because Street Fighter 4 has focus attacks, armor breaks, and vice versa. Ever since SF5 was made, the good stuff from SF4 was removed.

THis guide is all wrong, listen if you want to do well with Ken online you do: Heavy Tatsu, Dp, DP, dp, dp, dp, jump ,jump, runt atus, tatsu, dp jump run run throw, throw, run throw, H tatsu, m tatsu, sweep kick. You'll win 90% of matches this way online
