Mackenyu is amazing in this role, what great talent!! I'm so glad the Rurouni Kenshin are dubbed in English on Netflix!! Love all three of these. Watched the Knights of the Zodiac and he does a great job in that movie also.
This song is so haunting and so sad..his character was soo well written. For the sake of his sister, he used her death as a way to fuel his rage and his revenge became more devastating since he wanted to make everyone around the main guy suffer but he dealt with his own demons by failing to realize that she wanted the main guy to live even if it meant she had to die to do so. You see him struggling as he tries to kill the girl but ends up barfing because in his mind, his sister isn’t smiling by the way he chooses to live his life
I just couldn't hate his character at all no matter what he did as what can you expect from a 10 year old who witnessed his world his sister killed by the man who once robbed her of her happiness then killed her. I read the manga and his life after she died was so excruciatingly painful in china. Illusion of his sister and rage for revenge was the only thing that kept him alive. He actually gone insane as his hair turned gray from shock and he started hallucinating and the frenzy nerves he developed to survive
