I was waiting for you to react to this one since "the beginning" :). Daniel Darc was really "Dark"... He was tortured, felt into hard drugs and depression... He was an underground poet. This song is famous although it's almost the only one known by mainstream...
    Totally cult in France.

    • @corvusnox5940
      @corvusnox5940 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Absolutely, Daniel Darc was an underground poet. These texts are relatively simple but it is precisely this simplicity that touches. And it's not given to everyone, even if it seems simple........ Regarding the name Darc, I do think it was a deliberate pun on his part. Just like you I realized many years later !

Other french songs from 80's : Vivien Savage (la p'tite lady) ; Claudia Phillips (quel souci la bohétie) ; Tristan (bonne bonne humeur) ; Regrets (je veux pas rentrer chez moi seule) ; Alain Bashung (vertiges de l'amour ; Gaby) ; Gérard Blanchard (rocamadour) ; it's bananas !!! 😂

Same French mood or sounds ?
_ Eli et Jacno - Main dans la main
    _ Lio - Amoureux solitaires
_ Richard Gotainer - Le Sampa

This kind of sound is why I love the 80s music. The synths are absolutely epic and full of power. I absolutely feel energetic when I hear these kind of synths. If music nowadays can match up to this kind of energy, I would be happy for it 😃

Yes it's Mirway. It's the beginning of this french story punk new wave. Same type of energy stranglers when they used keyboards. Dark was a dark poet. He given his life to rock. This period and band is emblematic of aids culture. What is v particular here it's the sound. For a french band, they played a real rock, not an imitation of english or american rock. No complex. They opened the door to the mixture of french classic culture and expérimental rock sounds and composition. After in France, rock culture will never be the same. They gave a lot of forces to the new wave movement, in the exact articulation between punk and electronic sounds. Others french punk band of this period are very interesting. Like lucrate milk or stinky toys, élie et Jacno, and of this vibration came the Rita Mitsouko !

Funny how you misspelled Daniel's Darc as Dark... Writing a comment in English myself, I realized that maybe, he chose this name on "purpose" as a... dark pun...

I had the chance to meet Daniel Darc in the early 2000's. I was in a record store with a friend and he heard us hesitate between two records he knew so he came over to help us and we stayed there a while talking music. He struck me as a very kind and intelligent man.

Can you please react to their "Mannequin" and/or "Aussi belle qu'une balle" - in my opinion, much superior to "Cherchez le garçon" - the synths will blow you away! :)

I propose the new wave song , "Je t'aime tant " ( I love you so much ) , recorded by Elli et Jacno , in 1982.
The Indochine's audio cover , recorded in 2009 , is available.

A title that always makes an impact in clubs 🙂 ! Yes, they started very young and knew the success very (too) quickly with this title. The drug circulated rather easily unfortunately. For the anecdote, during the tour with the Stranglers, Daniel Darc opened his veins on stage (I do not know until which point... I mean, between notching his wrist or really opening his veins, there is a difference ! ).
The album "Seppuku" also exists in English version (I prefer the French one) and it is indeed very good. You who like synths, you should appreciate it. But there are also excellent titles on the other productions of Taxi Girl.
Mirwais also made two pop albums with the band "Juliette et les indépendants" (the album "14 Juillet" is a little jewel too unknown, brilliant from beginning to end) and produced 3 solo albums, I only know the second one "Production", really very good but you may already know it.
Daniel Darc was a raw skinned, he knew the loss of friends, the hell of drugs, alcohol, psychiatric hospital, prison before resurfacing in the years 2000 ...
I had tenderness for this guy and his death touched me .... I loved his way of writing. His album "Crève-Coeur" is really incredible but many other titles of Daniel Darc also deserve to be rediscovered.
Thank you for choosing Taxi Girl (too bad the song is cut at the end), I hope you will try other songs. Thank you for having read these lines 😉

Vraiment pas une des chansons 80's que j'aime! Y'a mieux, plus entrainant et plus festif que ça. Des titres dansants à partir de 1983-84 à 1989 qui font bouger y'en a encore plein! 😉
