    Very interesting to hear him talking about games (in his example, Fallout, Torment) forming strong memories enhanced by music and having strong memory formed by Disco itself for me. That feeling when you first get out into city and these horns kick in. Unforgettable. I felt like a kid again, opening new world. It's been more than a year since I played DE, but occasionally somethingout of the blue reminds me of that, dare I say, nostalgic feeling of being there. They succeeded.

    The bit about storytelling for writers being like a mystic honeycomb is so true, and Robert expressed it so eloquently that it made me feel so understood... I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that storyteller-FOMO; that it's a universal thing.

    Although Disco Elysium is already great enough as it is, I'd agree that it would've been better if the skill checks weren't dice rolls and instead requirements like in New Vegas. It would make the feeling of investing skill points into certain thoughts more rewarding imho...

    • @smidlem1117
      @smidlem1117 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      see my thing (and I do reckon kurvitz would agree) is that a game like NV is more about controlling your character and the world about you, so the non-random skill checks make sense there! DE is a game that is way more about trying and failing and trying again to take control over your life and the ways in which we don't have control (think the relative linearity of the story, how everyone treats the detective as an addict and trash regardless of whether you indulge in alcohol and drugs everyday or stay 100% sober, how the entire martinaise people have given up on true revolutionary action to unstick themselves from their capitalist hellscape, it is everywhere if you look for a moment), so I think dice rolls make sense here. and yes once or twice I will admit I rerolled stuff but I really mostly stuck to it personally. hope that makes sense

    • @antondavidovic3996
      @antondavidovic3996 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@smidlem1117 That's a fair assessment. It took me a while to realize that I very much enjoyed the game just as it is. Sometimes I have to let things sink in before I realize how good or bad they are.
