I was part of the 10,000 person crew who opened the Bellagio. Mr Wynn took stellar care of us and it's an experience I'll always treasure. People said Bellagio was doomed to failure because it was too big and he'd spent too much money. I left to go work at the Paris across the street--a letdown after working for the best.

+Jeremy T A friend of the family used to work for him at the Wynn, and she said whenever he opens a new property, he creates a vacuum of the top talent in town because they all want to go work for him.

I can't believe you were one of the lucky employees to open Bellagio. The only hire the best of the best! Don't look back. Be grateful for being the lucky one to open the best hotel in the world! I opened the Aria and I can tell you we always looked at the Bellagio and we could not come close to the mystique. 88,000 employees applied for the Bellagio and only 10,000 were called to open Bellagio. Thanks for sharing on this post. Mr Wynn was way ahead of his time. So grateful for his magic and mystique.

WYNN HAS CHANGED LAS VEGAS FOR THE BETTER AND FOR ALWAYS. THE MIRAGE/TREASURE ISLAND/BELLAGIO/WYNN AND ENCORE ARE THE BEST OF LAS VEGAS. STEVE GAVE JOBS AND LIVES TO MILLIONS OF EMPLOYEES AND FAMILIES OVER THE DECADES HE WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED AND RESPECTED BY MOST PEOPLE. I’M SICK OF THESE WOKE ANTI POLICE ANTI MAN WOMENS LIBB CHICKS BASHING MY USA AND MEN IN GENERAL. I HAVE DEALT WITH MANY WOMEN WHO KILLED THEIR KIDS/LET THEIR BOYFRIENDS MOLEST THEIR KIDS FOR A FIX OF DOPE OR TO PLEASE THEIR BOYFRIENDS. Yes, the conservatory and the fountains are top tier, I must say! Stayed their twice and it's the first hotel bathroom that was so over the top with large amounts of marble , glass and space! Ironically, Room Service was the most reasonably priced of any hotel from memory. Who knew?... Nice joint!

One of my favorite resorts, truly an unbelievable accomplishment. Gotta correct Steve on one thing, he said his collection of shops was more dense than anywhere else in the world, but Rome absolutely has him beat. That's ok though, he was bursting with excitement and just like a good fishing story, we all gotta stretch it now and then. It's sad his reputation went down hill, but we can't ignore his accomplishments while accepting his downfalls.

@Vanquish73 No problem ;). Your right, that was a great time. I was only 6 years old when Bellagio opened, and it was my first trip to Vegas together with my dad. The Bellagio and the openingsshow were one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen in my life. Now more than a decade later Bellagio is still one of my favorite spots in Vegas..I also love the Wynn and Encore but the other new resorts kinda suck :S. Personally I think that Las Vegas needs a new visionair like Steve Wynn...

VivaLasVegasBoy Bellagio is by far the most beautiful (or was) Wynn still looks brand new even though it's 12 years old. Bellagio is getting old- and MGM's attempts at re-inventing it has somewhat failed. I wish steve was still running Bellagio- it would still be paradise

I agree. I just stayed there a few weeks ago for the first time and I was semi-let down. It's nice but no major renovations in 20 years makes it just above average for modern Las Vegas. Rooms were a solid average. We decided to stay 2 more nights and checked out of Bellagio and went to Encore.

Everyone knows vegas is about gambling...if you can't handle that...well, than you should go somewhere else or leave your wallet at home.

How can there not be stronger emotions involved when it comes to eating? America is the fattest nation on the planet, buddy. It is absolutely false to say that a gambling addiction is worse than an alcohol or a food addiction. An addiction is an addiction, plain and simple.

Actually the vast majority of those profits come from people who would love to win some money but who are prepared to lose some money and will have a good time regardless .
