Keep the motor in the prelude brother let her eat and build another engine for the hatch with the same setup in mind but modernized. I guarantee you 1200+ especially with the tuning Jedi Honda Master Brent! Been watching your channel grow for years now! Your content is always legit and not to mention ad free (not that I won't watch the adds to help your revenue) but u guys are genuine.. much respect. B safe lil homie...

or even better keep the prelude and buy a cleaner car to replace the hatch. with a 1000hp prelude and a built up mr2 I'd rather have a cleaner base car as a third than just another rough, high mileage car

Plus it's pretty stupid to cut up a nice car that could be crashed at any moment on the track.. this isn't a show car channel if you want to watch cars that look good but don't perform go to sema you'll meet a few people to follow
@@freedomfox8183 I don't mean he should build a show car. Just maybe like a 500/600hp setup or something that doesn't require full cage work and everything - More of a clean, daily driving setup but with power. Just an idea - that's more what I'd be thinking in his position
Kyle if you haven't seen it check out Motive Videos recent upload, Tuners edge drag battle on an unprepped runway in Australia. A beast MR2 ran 8.84 quarter mile at 167mph. Pretty sure it runs a K.

I wonder if you’re guy weighed the pin otherwise it could throw off the balance you had on rotating assembly
I'd expect them to would have stumbled over the large difference in weight from the other pins, but wouldn't hurt to make sure I'd guess.
I wondered the same thing. But what's a little extra vibration.... its only going to see like 9500 rpm or more. 😂
I'm not sure that would affect the balance much, as the pistons only move up and down in a straight line. Could be wrong though. But I'm certain it's less important than the actual rotating components being balanced
He said the dimensions were the same, and it seemed to be the same grade steel, so I doubt it could be off-weight by very much. And the dude that did it is an engine builder/machinist, so (hopefully) he knows to check that kinda shit
Right?!?! Of course it makes a difference on the piston end. Those things are hauling ass at 10k rpm. And you can’t assume it’s the same weight just because it “looks like the same steel” and it’s the same size. Guys, when they balance an engine, they match pistons to wrist pins and rods. This has just thrown an unknown part into the mix. Who knows if it’s a shitty Ebay pin? All this time and effort and this could be a failure point. It could also be fine.
The thing that would worry me is that the “balance shop” mixed up AT LEAST one part. Who knows what else is wrong. Also, did they really even balance it? How did they balance it with that long pin?

Just so ya know those copper rings are usually referred to as "fire rings" more commonly used in high boost diesel applications but have worked their way into the performance gas engine world. Went to auto zone and advanced auto yesterday looking for some plastigauge...neither store even knew what it was...I had to show the guy on his website that they could get it..goofs
AutoZone employees aren't the smartest they tried giving me two different axles in completely obvious different boxes.. not all of them are car people and the ones that are still have limited knowledge or they would be working somewhere else

If you do top ring more loose then you are risking have your top ring lifted because compression will be stuck between first and second ring so top ring will be not pushed and sealed as should be.

Thanks was looking for this comment, that's why second ring is gaped bigger from what I understand.
@@MJTAUTOMOTIVE Gasses that escape the top ring (looser in this case) do not make it past the 2nd ring due to it being tighter, and are forced back to the top compression ring (pushing from underside), causing it to lose its sealing effectiveness. Every piston manufacturer and their mother recommends a 1-2 thou (or a certain %) larger 2nd compression ring gap.
@@JulioCCires that might be the case but the lower ring will not get as hot therefore it will not expand as much. If you a to large of a ring gap it is just wasted hp.

He'll yeah bro i thought the same thing with ring gap when building motors I enjoy watching you guys assembling motors it would be cool to see a long in Depth video of the motor assembly like Timing and sealing ect i am interested in k motors (b series guy) so the little differences id like to learn more

gaps for the wrist pin clips should either be at the very top or very bottom. if you leave the gaps on the side, the clip can compress when the piston changes direction and pop out.

Why are you going full Argon over the mix if Helium and Argon. For those of you that don't know Gas acts as a shield for welding. Without GAS your welds will be full of holes.
Because helium is excessively expensive. I mix it on a y and rarely use it.
